This document provides a summary of exploration activities on the Norwegian Continental Shelf in 2005 and plans for 2006. It identifies 95 oil and gas play and prospect locations within the open acreage of the 2006 Awards in Predefined Areas licensing round. The results from 2005 included 12 exploration wells with 6 new discoveries that could replace up to 50% of Norway's 2005 oil production. Plans for 2006 include drilling 20-25 exploration wells and awarding 10 new production licenses. The report identifies prospectivity close to infrastructure with over 2 billion cubic meters of recoverable oil and gas resources across a range of risk levels.
