Scott Howard completed an A2 coursework project in video production. His planning showed proficiency, though notes on theory could have been more detailed. His video construction demonstrated excellence in technical skills, strong narrative, and genre conventions. All work has been completed to a proficient level. There are very brief notes on
Goodwins theory and how this can be applied to a video, this could be more detailed.
Good work on choice of location and storyboards. Time management was poor at
times.
Construction – Main Task – comments and mark out of 40/40
The candidate has shown excellence in the in the creative use of all of the technical
skills. Editing matches the song well and excellent use of transitions. Controlled use
of the camera with a good variety of shots. Mise en scene and performance follow
genre conventions well and has a very strong clear narrative. Excellent use of lip
syncing and special effects.
Construction – Ancillary Task 1 (Digipak) comments and mark out of 7/10
Digipak has been constructed as an album. Using some well framed photographs.
There is proficient awareness to genre and layouts, some better fonts would have
helped improve this.

Poster has been constructed to match the single. A well framed and edited
photograph. There is proficient awareness to conventions and layouts. Some focus
to conventions added (social media).
Evaluation – Comments and mark out of 14/20
Question 1 – answered proficiently using prezi. Answered using real products to
back up points.
Question 2 – answered proficiently using a youtube video. The question has been
answered well but could benefit from comparison to examples from bands of the
same genre.
Question 3 – answered using wordle, analysis of a focus group and a podcast.
Would have been nice to see some evidence from the focus group, but analysed
well. The podcast features the candidate and another candidate discussing audience
feedback well but then focus shifts on problems that could not be changed. Also
focuses slightly more on the second candidate.
Question 4 – answered proficiently using a collage a prezi. You could have split the
editing software up to provide more information on each one.
Overall a proficient evaluation. All questions fully answered using a variety of
technologies.
