The article discusses how oil and gas companies are increasingly pursuing localization strategies by working with national oil companies in developing countries. This helps developing countries build local capabilities and economic development through training, knowledge transfer, and supporting local suppliers. Examples are given of Norway working with Statoil and Nigeria working with Shell to develop their oil industries and local economies. Localization benefits both international and national oil companies by giving access to resources and reducing risks.
The document provides updates on various oil, gas and petrochemical projects. It discusses key milestones achieved including:
1) Meeting an increased production target of over 100,000 bpd at the Rumaila oil field in Iraq ahead of schedule.
2) Successful completion of the $800 million Inter Refineries Pipelines project in the UAE connecting various refineries.
3) Receiving an award for the enhanced oil recovery project using polymer injection at the Marmul field in Oman, which will increase oil production by 8,000 bpd.
The Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone provides economic opportunities in metals beneficiation, agro-processing, port operations, renewable energy, and ICT. It has an existing land portfolio of 237 hectares and plans to expand into additional zones identified through a 50-year master plan. Recent highlights include signing investment agreements totaling R4.8 billion and creating over 1,700 construction jobs. The zone aims to attract further investments in steel production, oil and gas infrastructure, and shipbuilding through initiatives like Operation Phakisa. It also signed a memorandum of understanding with a technical college to develop workforce skills.

It lists previous EDIN-USVI clean energy workshops dating back to 2010 that were held in locations across the US Virgin Islands. It then outlines topics discussed at the current workshop, including goals to source 60% of energy from clean sources by 2025, as well as breaking down clean energy sources like solar, wind, biomass, and the benefits of energy efficiency and propane.
The document discusses conducting a survey of a target audience for a metal music magazine. It provides responses from 3 candidates who were asked questions about their musical tastes, interests, and preferences for a metal magazine. All 3 candidates expressed enjoying Kerrang and Rocksound magazines and listening to metalcore and screamo artists. They suggested taking inspiration from the style and layout of these magazines. They also favored featuring artists like Asking Alexandria and preferred a color scheme of red and black for the magazine. Most were willing to pay around £2 for the magazine, which would make it competitively priced compared to Kerrang. The responses helped reveal the target audience's interests in newer metal genres and bands and informed decisions about the magazine's content and design

Criteria for the design of pressure transducer adapter systemsYavuz özkaptan
This document discusses criteria for designing pressure transducer adapter systems. It presents equations derived from a wave model to describe the frequency response of adapter systems consisting of two concentric tubes. The simplest case is the Helmholtz resonator equation, which is only accurate for large volume ratios. More accurate equations are presented to model common adapter configurations with small or unequal tube volumes. Approximate equations are derived that allow calculating the fundamental resonant frequency with less than 2% error. Experimental data from a compressor application illustrates how adapter resonances can affect measurements of plenum pressures.
The document summarizes the implementation of an energy savings program across Department of Education schools in the US Virgin Islands. It began with an initial phone call in 2009 and led to two task order schedules (TOS) that implemented energy conservation improvements. TOS #1 invested $6.8 million and achieved $1.3 million in annual guaranteed energy savings. TOS #2 invested $10.8 million and is projected to achieve $1.7 million in annual guaranteed energy savings. The program has resulted in local economic benefits through job creation and spending, and feedback from school principals indicates it has been well received and should continue.

Statoil is expanding into offshore wind power and has set a target of 9 GW of capacity by 2020. Offshore wind is a lower margin industry that requires a different mindset and governance model than oil and gas. Statoil will focus its renewable energy efforts on areas where it can apply its existing technology and experience. Its first project, Sheringham Shoal, met commercial targets and provided learning for future projects. Statoil sees potential for huge cost reductions in offshore wind and hopes to demonstrate grid parity without subsidies in the 2020s. Future projects may involve synergies with oil and gas expertise and working with contractors to improve safety and planning.

Economic Risk Factor Update: June 2024 [SlideShare]Commonwealth

In a tight labour market, job-seekers gain bargaining power and leverage it into greater job quality—at least, that’s the conventional wisdom.
Michael, LMIC Economist, presented findings that reveal a weakened relationship between labour market tightness and job quality indicators following the pandemic. Labour market tightness coincided with growth in real wages for only a portion of workers: those in low-wage jobs requiring little education. Several factors—including labour market composition, worker and employer behaviour, and labour market practices—have contributed to the absence of worker benefits. These will be investigated further in future work.

Formed in 2004 from a group of 30 companies which made up the Scottish subsea technology group.
Supported by Scottish enterprise and DTI for the first 2 years and since then Subsea UK has been self funding, and is for the industry, by the industry.
Almost half in Scotland with 43.4% of companies from the UK are based in the NE of Scotland with other main hubs in the NE of England and the NW of England
Subsea sector has grown 50% in past 3 years with a 45% share of £20 billion global market
The NE of Scotland dominates the subsea sector output with 81% of sales but many companies throughout the UK supply to the NE of Scotland where the sales are made to operators. This avoids “double counting”.
Almost half the UK output of £4.3 billion is attributed to exports around the world.
NE of Scotland dominates the exports from the UK with 70% coming from the region.
Over 53,000 people are directly employed by companies working in subsea and there is an additional 13,000 who are working for non-subsea companies that provide raw materials or support to the industry.
Still a challenge to get more skilled people into the sector to meet demand.
Global market set to double over next 5 years.
Challenge is to retain 45% share of the global market.
UK subsea companies with their proven track records and expertise are in a very good position to take advantage of the opportunities and the countries are open for business.
These are the key global subsea centres where Subsea UK works closely with SDI in these areas - very supportive by assisting companies in country. New Ghana office –looking forward to working with Gary to support companies with information about the opportunities in the region.
West Africa is predominantly driven from USA, UK and France
2 previous reports co-produced with SDI, the first focussing on doing business in Brazil and the second Australia.
The third in the series was more challenging.
The research for the third in the series focussing on Angola, Ghana and Nigeria was not so straight forward as there were challenges in producing a report on West Africa where the three countries in one region we focussed on are so different and each have their own challenges.
All of the countries have their own weaknesses which are impeding progress and strengths UK subsea companies with their proven track records and expertise are in a very good position to take advantage of these opportunities and the countries are open for business.
Angola and Nigeria are well established while Ghana is developing new discoveries.
Angola and Nigeria hold significant Deepwater potential while Ghana is increasing its levels of offshore activity.
The guide is designed starting by giving the bigger picture with various statistics then focussing in on energy and specifically subsea. To be effective companies need to do their research, understand the culture and the law, be familiar with the supply chain issues and procurement process, select the right market entry option and invest building relationships. It can be a long process.
Three case studies Aquatic experience of working in Angola, Global SCS experience of working in Ghana Enermech reporting on their experiences in Nigeria.
Hopefully the reports will serve as a guide to help businesses compare opportunities in overseas markets and assist them in making the right decision for their company global strategy.
Finishing off with promoting the guide as a great tool for companies wanting to do business there.
