ASSIGNMENT ON BASIC SCIENCE
COMPOUND MICROSCOPE
Uses of a Compound Microscope
Uses two lenses to make things look larger.
It is used to make images look more larger
and clearer.
The light microscope, so called because it
employs visible light to detect small objects, is
probably the most well-known and well-used
research tool in biology.Yet, many students
and teachers are unaware of the full range of
features that are available in light
microscopes.
COVER SLIP
USES OF COVER SLIP
Used to cover specimens on a microscope
slide.
A cover slip (bottom) and a microscope slide
(top).A cover slip, cover slip or cover glass is a
thin flat piece of transparent material, usually
square or rectangular, about 20 mm (4/5 in)
wide and a fraction of a millimeter thick, that
is placed over objects for viewing with
a microscope.
HAND LENS
USES OF HAND LENS
A magnifying glass (called a hand lens in
laboratory contexts) is a convex lens that is
used to produce a magnified image of an
object. The lens is usually mounted in a frame
with a handle.
is commonly used as a symbolic
representation for the ability to search or
zoom, especially in computer software and
websites.
Graduated Cylinders
USES OF GRADUATED CYLINDER
A graduated cylinder, measuring cylinder or
mixing cylinder is a piece of laboratory
equipment used to measure the volume of a
liquid. Graduated cylinders are generally
more accurate and precise than laboratory
flasks and beakers.
The graduated
cylinder issued for measuring volumes
(amounts) of liquids.
BEAKER
USES OF A BEAKER
A beaker is a simple container for
stirring, mixing and heating liquids
commonly used in many
laboratories. Beakers are generally
cylindrical in shape, with a flat
bottom. Most also have a small
spout (or "beak") to aid pouring as
shown in the picture.
Beakers are designed to hold a
particular amount of liquid and are
not designed to
accurately measure volumes of
liquids. If an approximate volume is
needed with little accuracy,
a beaker may be used to contain
the liquid.
Florence Flask
USES OF FLORENCE FLASK
It is used as a container to hold liquids.A
Florence flask has a round body, a single long
neck, and often a flat bottom. It is designed
for uniform heating, boiling, distillation and
ease of swirling; it is produced in a number of
different glass thicknesses to stand different
types of use.
