Since then, Syria has seen the rise of new political and military opposition forces seeking to end Assad's rule. However, the opposition remains fragmented, with differing ideological views among leadership and on-the-ground militias. While the end of Assad may come, it will not end the war and Syria's future post-Assad remains highly uncertain, as outside groups will have less influence than anticipated over the country's course.

While the end of Assad may come, it will not end the war and Syria's future post-Assad remains highly uncertain, as outside groups will have less influence than anticipated over the country's course.
Refugee Responsibility and Sustainability Index
The Refugee Responsibility and Sustainability Index was created as part of my Personal Project at Lincoln Community School. This index asses the responsibility level of a country towards tackling refugee crises in three parts: One, whether or not a country has a responsibility to absorb and resettle refugees within their territories; Two whether or not a country has a responsibility to increase its contribution to humanitarian aid efforts; and Three the amount of overall contribution a country should make to help tackle any refugee crisis. To accurately and objectively measure this, parameters such as GDP Per-Capita, Natives per refugee, humanitarian aid given, and poverty rate amongst others have been taken into consideration.

Lesson plan syrian refugees
This lesson plan aims to teach 13-14 year old students about migrations by reviewing the locations of European countries, introducing Middle Eastern countries, and raising awareness about the Syrian situation. Students will match country names and shapes on maps, watch a video to identify countries mentioned, and reflect on pros and cons of welcoming refugees in writing or discussion. Their knowledge will be assessed through a true/false quiz about the involved countries and problems. The teacher will self-evaluate the lesson and assign students to research newspaper articles on the topic.

The humanitarian crisis has impacted 7.5 million Syrian children inside and outside the country, with over 2 million living as refugees in neighboring countries and 2.6 million no longer attending school.

It proposes that pedagogical knowledge, views of children and childhood, and the ability to make wise educational judgements are also essential. The article outlines three core aims of education - schooling, socialization, and subjectification. From these aims, five principles for teacher education are derived, including a focus on pedagogical knowledge and understanding children. The article concludes that knowledge of children and views of childhood are foundational for foundation phase teaching.

Pupils share their ideas of who the girl is in the photo, using suggested prompts if appropriate. Introduce Israa and her story using notes on PowerPoint. • Where is Israa and what is she doing? Pupils share their ideas. Explain what has happened to Israa and her family following the outbreak of civil war in Syria using notes on PowerPoint. • Pupils complete Activity Sheet 1 by filling in what their day is like in the left hand circle, what Israa‟s day is like in the right hand circle and then writing similarities in the circle overlap. • ‘Children in Conflict’ PowerPoint • Activity Sheet 1 - A day in the life • Suggested websites for more information: o BBC o UNHCR o NASA PSHE/Citizenship: KS2 4b. to think about the lives of people living in other places and times, and people with different values and customs. 4f. that differences and similarities between people arise from a number of factors, including cultural, ethnic, racial and religious diversity, gender and disability Main • Split pupils into three groups. Each group answers a question from the PowerPoint, using „Think – Pair – Share‟ technique. Pupils can use the Information Sheet to help with their answers. (optional) PSHE/Citizenship: KS2 4b. to think about the lives of people living in other places and times, and people with different values and customs English: KS2 En1 2a. identify the gist of an account or key points in a discussion and evaluate what they hear Plenary • Pupils write a post for a school blog (including title, tags/keywords) or an article for the school newspaper (including headline) to explain Israa‟s story to other children at their school. They should compare and contrast their lives with Israa‟s in the article. • Newspaper template (optional) English: KS2 En3 9a. to imagine and explore feelings and ideas, focusing on creative uses of language and how to interest the reader En3 11. The range of readers for writing should include teachers, the class, other children, adults, the wider community and imagined readers. Introduction: Since civil war broke out in Syria in March 2011, more than two million Syrians have fled Syria and are now living as refugees in neighbouring countries such as Jordan and Lebanon. The UN estimates that 80% of refugees are women and children. This lesson explores the life of Israa, a 13-year-old refugee.
