This document summarizes the results of a school survey conducted at Redwood Elementary School. It notes that the school has a website and teacher blogs maintained by staff. Most classrooms have 1 computer for every 2 students, and there are two computer labs. Teachers received district technology training and integrate tools like educational games, YouTube videos, and a smartboard into lessons. While 73% of students in one class had computers at home, two students who struggled with technology did not.

School website: They do have one. It is maintained by the principle and two of the teachers.

Teachers’ class blog: Yes they do and they maintain their own blog. Students have access and I
was able to get into the one I tried.
School Tech Supervisor: Monica Thare
Classrooms with computers: There are 6-7 classrooms with 1 computer for every 2 students to
use. They are mostly in the 3rd grade and up rooms.
Computer Labs: They have 2 rooms set up for computer labs. Classes have scheduled times in
there.
Kinds: PCs
Internet in instruction: The teacher I observed used educational games on different websites.
Showed “Schoolhouse Rocks” video from YouTube.
Teacher training on technology: They were trained at the district.
Percentage of students with computers at home: 73% (16 out of 22) had computers in homes in
class I was in.
Students using technology: Went to smartboard to move nouns into categories. They played
educational games on computers. I helped two students find the games they were to go to.
Later, I found out that those two students did not have computers in homes.
Other: Mrs. Clegg taught class about nouns on smartboard. She had lyrics to a song on there.
She went to a YouTube video from there. She used smartboard to get students to decide what
words were nouns. Shealso used it to demonstrate educational games. She also used Lanschool
to send the connection to the games to the students’ computers.She said that the students get to
use the computers for a couple of hours a week now and they gradually increase the usage

2. throughout the year as they get better at using them. She also said that they can take tests on
them as well.
