Japan And India Dbq Essay
Throughout the late 1800s to the early 1900s, both japan and India saw a rise in the use of machines in
the textile industry. Both showed similar recruitment techniques, but were not so similar in who the
workers were and their working conditions.
The Indian textiles chart showed how India used machines to produce greater yarn and cloth amounts
in 1914 as compared to the production in 1884. As well it demonstrated how the amount of people
using machine made textiles had greatly increased opposed to hand made textiles (Doc 1). In 1916
Radhakamal Mukerjee, an Indian economist, explains how that handwoven textiles cannot keep up
with the machine made textiles, and therefore is on a decline (Doc 6). This identifies how India is

The story of a Japanese factory worker illustrates the harsh long hours fork work, no heat, and small
portions of food. On top of that they were not paid much or at all for the first year of their work (Doc
3). When the horrifically high number of sick people at the factory is added, the working conditions in
the Japanese textile factories seem barely livable. In contrast the Indian factory workers lived in their
own huts and worked for only two years (Doc 9). This shows much better living conditions for Indian
workers than Japanese workers. Since the document is written by a commissioner not a worker, the
author could be leaving out bad details to make his report look

Giving Advice For Communication Tech Users
Giving Advice to Communication Tech Users Communication is involved in both virtual setting and
face to face settings. You may not think so, but it is true. There is a lack of effective communication in
a email that people may not realize. It really depends on who you are sending that email to. If you are
talking to someone who is like a friend, boy friend or girlfriend, or relative, you may text them with
emojois and exclamation marks. Now, if you were sending an email to a doctor, a lawyer, or for a job
application, it would be completely different. You would sound more mature. Do you see the
difference? Although, it is important to have effective communication in every single email, it does
not matter who you are talking to. Here are some mistakes people make sending an email, and also
solutions to make the email better and have effective communication.
 Mistake: People are not clear with their messages: This can make the person that is reading this
very confused. They are not getting the main idea across of what the email is about. Then you two
would keep going back and forth with emails.
 Solution: How to make your email clear and specific is to look at the email as an outline for writing
a one page essay. That means make bullet points for the parts you want to say in your email. You want
to make it clear and short. Don t make your email sound like a list of things because you may repeat
the same thing. You want the person who is reading the email to have

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Web-Based Education
However, there are a few issues to be dealt with if web based learning is fully implemented in
educational institutions. Firstly, change in learning theories and approaches may lead to confusion or
difficulties among teachers and students (Web based Learning: Good or Bad?). As discussed earlier, in
web based learning approach, teachers are facilitators and motivators. It is up to the students in
carrying out the activities planned by the teachers creatively and constructs their knowledge about the
lesson by themselves with guide from the teachers.
Therefore, some of the students might feel lost especially during the early stages of implementation of
this approach as they are used to be spoon fed and depend solely on the teachers to give ... Show more

V. Pawar, of Department of Computer Science,North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon, India, in his
research paper titled Web Based School Education In India: Problems, Considerations, Approaches
Important Features Of Web Based Learning Environment claimed that limited bandwidth of Internet
connection gives slower performance for sound, video and intensive graphics, causing long waits for
downloads that can affect the ease of the learning process .
Therefore, implementation of web based learning in educational institutions might be quite difficult
due to issues such as change in learning approach leads to confusion and difficulties for teachers and
students, and the problem of computer illiteracy and connection and bandwidth issues.
All in all, web based learning leads to some changes in teachers and students role in learning
processes, and it also comes with some prospects and issues in implementing the approach in
educational institutions. However, if it is to be viewed from the perspective of education in Malaysia,
we are moving towards the implementation of this innovative approach. Teachers, regardless of either

High School, The Place I Despise Essay
Trinity High School, the place I despise. Everything about it screams hell.
The students themselves were annoying, but add in the teachers, it was pure chaos.
I, of course had to keep my bad girl reputation, although I didn t act as bad as the kids in the kingdom
penitentiary. Now that was one place that I did not want to end up in. It gave me the chills just talking
about it.
Daydreaming again, Jill The teacher smiled at me. I looked up from my phone.
No I m just bored I said, she gave me a sad smile before continuing with her lecture. I shook my head
as I looked back down at my phone. I cursed it when the battery died. I pushed it in my pocket and put
some hair behind my ear.
It s like every teacher expected me to be a good girl. It was my destiny to push my brother down, but
that didn t mean that I couldn t take the whole school with me.
It was like I was compared to my brother 24/7. He was the star of the whole school, not even one
prince could compare to how he played football. It was his only talent, I called him brain dead whilst
the school called him the miracle we needed . I always rolled my eyes when they said it. I was the bad
girl of the school while he was the good guy.
I didn t want to grow up and smash my brothers crown . I wanted to be apart of the king s royal guard,
protect something, not just become a criminal.

Communication Is A Vital Weapon Of American Politics
Communication is a vital weapon in American politics. Our leaders have won and lost our favor with
organized speech since before the signing of the declaration of independence. With a well written
speech, and a practiced delivery, one man can change the views of our entire country. No one has done
this more successfully than Ronald Reagan. When Ronald Reagan gave the televised speech A Time
for Choosing for the Barry Goldwater Campaign in 1964, he changed the way that American
campaign speeches would be given forever. According to critics, his performance is the most effective
of its kind, prompting comparisons to William Jennings Bryan as a great American speaker and
earning him the title of The Great Communicator. Despite the wide acclaim, the speech did not work
as Goldwater lost the election by a cavernous margin. So, why was his speech considered a success if
the candidate it was supposed to bolster did not even win the election? While many explanations are
offered about the success of this speech by scholars, this paper will focus on the most widely
supported school of thought, The Teflon President . More formally, this paper will argue that Reagan
solidifies his identity as The Great Communicator during his A Time for Choosing speech, by using
unprecedented rhetorical strategies in order to create and unify an audience around his new
conservative populism. This paper will first provide historical context for the speech, then the paper
will address the

Depression Among International Missionaries
Running Head: DEPRESSION AMONG MISSIONARIES Depression Among International
Missionaries Jonathan E. Sullivan Liberty University Abstract Missionaries have a unique calling
accompanied by unique challenges over the course of their service. As these individuals and families
face these challenges, depression can be an enemy that hinders and even stops the good work they
perform. While most of the time a professional counselor can be seen in the United States to help with
depression, a therapist may not be so readily available in remote parts of the world. This paper looks
at the factors that may lead to depression for those on the mission field and some preventative
measures that may be taken to avoid major depression. The well being ... Show more content on

Still, Carey pressed on recognizing that a price must be paid for their success . However, the reality is
that for the missionary today on the foreign field, when persecution, loneliness, despair, frustration,
and temptation manifest themselves it can take its toll physically and psychologically. In Luke 14:28,
the Lord instructs in the biblical text to count the cost of an endeavor before you undertake it. This not
only should be done financially, but emotionally, physically, and psychologically as well. It is
recognized that wherever God calls He will give that individual and family what they need holistically
to accomplish the task at hand. At the same time, a call to serve is a call to prepare oneself for service
and it should be recognized that there are always consequences to our decisions. This preparation time
includes not only a seminary education and experience in ministry, but psychological stability is
paramount for these missionaries. Many sending agencies have a thorough psychological screening
process in place and some do not. Hall amp; Sweatman (2002) recognize that psychological
assessment is only one piece of a larger assessment strategy for the missionary candidate. Along with
the psychological issues to be tested are the assessment of doctrinal unity with the sending agency, a
unity in the vision of the mission work, and proven leadership just to name a few areas. This same
research by Hall amp; Sweatman (2002) also understood that the

The Influence Of Student Habits And Student Athletes
For any college student, one of the most important things to be learned is good time management and
study skills. This becomes even more imperative when the student in question is an athlete and has the
majority of their day planned out for them. Being a student athlete comes with its own unique set of
challenges, including finding a way to balance the amount of time they allot to the sport they play and
to their studies. It is a common perception that student athletes spend less time and efforts on their
studies than the average college student, but it is not that simple. When considering whether or not
student athletes focus the appropriate amount of time on school work, it is necessary to take a deeper
look at why they focus on what they do, and some of the factors that influence an athlete and the
academic habits they have formed. If student athletes are focusing more on athletics, it would be
helpful to understand what drives them to do so; likewise, knowing why athletes are just as dedicated
to their academics as they are athletics could help pave the way for all student athletes in the future.
Most athletes that are more concerned with their academics have something or someone that influence
their academic habits. Influencing factors can include things such as needing to maintain a certain
GPA for their coach or a scholarship, or potentially that they use the drive they have developed as an
athlete off the court as well.
Out of all factors that influence a student

1.0 Introduction Due to outstanding properties, graphene got more attention by the scientific
community; all its exceptional properties are owing to hexagonal monolayer of honeycomb lattice
packed with carbon atoms. The mechanical properties of graphene have been investigated using
various experimental, theoretical and computational approaches. By experimental based work, Lee et
al. [1] estimated the mechanical properties of graphene such as Young s modulus of about 1.0 ± 0.1
TPa and fracture strength of 130 ± 10 GPa. Frank et al. [2] estimated Young s modulus of 0.5 TPa for
2 to 8nm thickness of graphene sheets. Zhang et al. [3] measured Young s modulus of 0.89 TPa for
single layer graphene sheet. Besides experimental work, numerous theoretical and computational
studies have been carried out to investigate mechanical properties of graphene. By orthogonal tight
binding method Zhao et al. [4] estimated Young s modulus of 1.01 ± 0.03 and fracture strength and
strain of 107 GPa and 0.20 in zigzag direction and 90 GPa and 0.13 in armchair direction respectively.
By Ab initio calculation Liu et al. [5] estimated young s modulus of 1.05 TPa and also estimated
uniaxial tensile stress of 121

Lucy Pevensie s Influence Tactics And Charisma
Influence Tactics and Charisma
Two other factors played a huge role in Lucy s leadership: the way she influenced others and the way
they perceived her as a person. The influence tactics she uses reflect her power type and the type of
relationship between her and those she is trying to influence. For most of the film, Lucy uses
inspirational appeals with her siblings to keep their spirits up and keep them focused on the tasks of
rescuing Edmund and saving Narnia. Inspirational appeals rely on emotional connection (Hughes,
Ginnett, Curphy, 2015, p. 69), which Lucy has established well in all of her relationships. Personal
appeals also have a large part in this, since this involves requesting a favor based upon relationship
quality (Hughes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

develops so much as a person and character throughout this movie, and her ability to use her
leadership to better herself and her world serves as an inspiration to audiences everywhere. Narnia

Electromagnetics Ruined Britain
In order to properly talk about radar, or Radio Detection and Ranging as it was once called, we must
first look at the history of radio waves and how eating carrots saved Britain. During the late years of
the 19th century, many advances were being made in the field of electromagnetism. James Maxwell,
among his many discoveries, stated that electromagnetic waves produced through oscillating charges
could propagate through space at the speed of light. Heinrich Hertz managed to prove this hypothesis
in 1887 in his famous radio experiment. Shortly after arriving in Karlsruhe, Hertz found some large
induction coils that could produce a pulsed high voltage and a pair of spark micrometers with brass
knobs forming an adjustable spark gap, which he hoped could be used to transmit electromagnetic
waves as predicted by Maxwell. With a battery and an interrupter attached to the primary coil, he
could obtain a pulsed high voltage across a secondary coil. He then invented a high frequency
oscillating antenna by forming a dipole with two metal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, a new technology was developed which provided enough warning time to deploy a
counterattack, the RADAR. Thanks to this the allies were able to know not only the direction of an
aircraft, but also the raid count, altitude and speed. With this the allies were able to win the Battle of
Britain (2). Immediately following this victory, the allies began research into developing electric
warfare to counteract technological advances by the Germans. After gathering enough intelligence on
the German antiaircraft radar and their communication, the allies began using chaffs, and airborne
jammers in order to suppress German air defenses (2). Like it s always the case with warfare
technology, ways were devised for counteracting the enemy s radar. These techniques can be divided

Who Was Nikola Tesla Is An American Inventor
Who do you think of when you hear the word genius? You most likely think of Albert Einstein,
Thomas Edison, Charles Darwin, or another famous name that we hear throughout our lives. However,
I doubt Nikola Tesla comes to your mind. Nikola Tesla was a Serbian inventor in the 1880s, whose
advances in electrical technology rivaled those of Thomas Edison. Tesla had one of the greatest minds
in recorded history, so why isn t he as well known as these other so called geniuses? Who exactly was
Nikola Tesla, not only as an inventor, but as a person? Nikola Tesla was born to Djuka Mandic and
Milutin Tesla on July 9th or 10th in 1856 in Smiljan, Croatia (part of the Austrian Empire at the time).
Tesla s father was an Orthodox priest and a writer. As Tesla grew up, his father tried to convince him
to follow in his footsteps and join the priesthood. Tesla, however, was uninterested in being like his
father and instead found a love in science. This love most likely came from his mother. Though she
was illiterate and uneducated, she often made small inventions to help her around the household. In
the 1870s, Tesla studied at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

He was asked to create a generator that could use Niagara Falls energy to power Buffalo, New York.

Spectral Band Replication in Audio Coding
Spectral Band Replication (SBR) is a novel audio spectrum recovery technology, it can greatly
improve the efficiency of perceptual audio coding compression, and thus more suitable for streaming
media applications with limited bandwidth. It will be widely used in the world of digital broadcasting,
the third generation mobile communications, multimedia downloads, video on demand and other
services. SBR use parametric coding technique that involves complex algorithms; simply take a long
time by the hardware circuit design. And this design cannot keep up with the constant development of
audio standards. In other words: When a new standard integration into the decoder, it takes a long time
to complete the new circuit design, the original method will no longer have a market value. Be
achieved only using the software in power consumption and cost requirements are higher for portable
applications with limited competition. With the increasing complexity and diversity of multimedia
signal processing requirements, hardware and software co design concept has been widely applied to
the actual design. The two main reasons why Spectral Band Replication can fit our needs are: First,
SBR is capable of reproducing the high frequency band by using the correlation information which
transmitted along with the low frequency band. Therefore, we can save the bits which were reserved
for coding high frequency band without actually lost the high frequency signal. Second, it is more

Oil Prices And Stock Market Essay
INTRODUCTION
In this empirical project I will try to explain the relationship between the oil prices, gold prices and
stock market in the United State using yearly time series data. Since the gold and oil prices are raising
their influence on stock market is also increasing and we will see how fluctuations in oil prices and
gold prices impact the stock market in the United States. So here oil prices and gold prices will be our
explanatory variable and stock market index will be our explained variable. In this study we will use
multiple regression analysis to explain the relationship.
The data is collected from years 1961 to 2010 so the sample size is 50. The explanatory variable gold

Another reason is due to depreciation of the US dollar as it depreciates people want to spend more in
gold to hedge against inflation so the prices of gold is increasing. The cost of country s economy is
determined by oil prices so oil plays a vital role in the economy of the US. Generally high oil prices
badly impacts the performance of the stock market and high oil prices means that people may
considered to invest more in stock market.
Hamilton (1993), Gisser and Goodwin (1988), and Daniel (1997) have shown that there is a strong
relationship between the oil prices and stock markets. Several further have been done by Jones and
Kaul (1996), Sadorsky (1999) and Faff and Brailsford (1999) in order to explain this relationship.
Sadorsky (2003) used the vector correction model to verify the relationship between the oil and stock
prices. Abken (1980) have shown that inflation influences the gold prices and proved that they have a
positive correlation where as Mahdavi and Zhou (1997) found out that gold is no longer inflation
protective asset. So there are several studies have been already done in this field which has helped us

Pulsing Target Gene Induction
Some signal transduction systems produce multiple pulses of target gene expression in succession
when exposed to a constant level of stimulus (Levine et al., 2013) (Fig. 1.1B). Although pulsing is
similar to transcriptional bursting in that target gene expression levels increase and decrease
repetitively, pulsing is regulated by genetic circuits that activate and deactivate pathway output
regulators with a defined frequency and amplitude instead of relying on stochastic gene expression
(Levine et al., 2013; Raj and van Oudenaarden, 2008). Pulsing can be beneficial during signal
transduction by allowing cells to respond in ways that would be difficult to achieve with a simpler
response (Levine et al., 2013).

In response to γ irradiation mediated DNA damage, ATM kinase activates the tumor suppressor
protein, p53, via phosphorylation. Once activated, p53 initiates two negative feedback loops. The first
negative feedback loop is caused by p53 activating the expression of the E3 ubiquitin ligase Mdm2,
allowing Mdm2 to target p53 for degradation. The second negative feedback loop is the result of p53
activating the expression of the phosphatase Wip1, which dephosphorylates p53 and therefore reduces
its stability. Wip1 also targets ATM kinase, which requires phosphorylation in order to be in the active
state. Therefore, the increased activity of Wip1 silences ATM kinase, which prevents the activation of
p53. If DNA damage persists in the cell, ATM kinase activates p53 once more after Wip1 expression
levels have subsided. Pulsing of p53 activity results in cell cycle arrest and DNA repair, and continues
until DNA damage has been completely repaired.

Keynes s analysis in Chapter 12 of the General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money suggests
that capitalism is inherently unstable due to its financial structure .
Discuss outlining Keynes s analysis of the stock market and identifying the related policy conclusions
he reaches.
In Chapter 12 of the General Theory of Employment, John Maynard Keynes focused on examining
the stock market and how it functions, in the sense of its structure and how it is affected by the
behavior of investors because he believed the behavior of the stock market affects the aggregate
demand, hence the rest of the economic system. He is most interested in the fluctuations of the rates of

Keynes (1936, p155 56) describes the stock market using an analogy between professional investment
and newspaper beauty contest: Professional investment may be likened to those newspaper
competitions in which the competitors have to pick out the six prettiest faces from a hundred
photographs, the prize being awarded to the competitor whose choice most nearly corresponds to the
average preferences of the competitors as a whole...It is not a case of choosing those which, to the best
of one s judgment, are really the prettiest, nor even those which average opinion genuinely thinks the
prettiest. We have reached the third degree where we devote our intelligence to anticipating what
average opinion expects the average opinion to be. And there are some, I believe, who practice the
fourth, fifth, and higher degrees. The Stock Market decisions work based on conventional values too,
where each is not concerned with determining the real stock value, but the market value the
community will place on the stock, before everyone else does. Keynes observes some other features of
this situation within the stock market. This type of liquidity not only leads to future fluctuations in

Divine Comedy Poem
The Divine Comedy The Divine Comedy is a narrative poem, which was written by Dante Alighieri.
The long narrative poem was written from 1308 and was completed around 1320. A deep analysis of
The Divine Comedy reveals that the poem is in a way, a story about Dante s journey throughout life to
the final salvation. The opening canto of the poem starts in the middle of Dante s life, where he finds
himself in a dark wood, with no clear direction in which to go. This canto becomes the introduction to
the Divine Comedy. The poem, (considered to be one of the greatest works in the history of literature)
is viewed as the finest work in the whole of Italian literature. Famous during its time, the poem seems
to somewhat represent the medieval world view (similar to that which had been developed by the
Western Church in the 14th century). This representation is brought about by the poem through
excellent imaginative vision of the afterlife. The Divine Comedy was among the last works of Dante
Alighieri, who met his death in 1321, a year after completion of this particular poem. For the purpose
of this essay, an analysis of The Divine Comedy will be researched. The Divine Comedy is a trilogy
containing three volumes, each of which contains 33 cantos, otherwise known as chapters, (Dante,
Alighieri). The three volumes are Inferno, Paradiso and Purgatorio. In all the three volumes, Dante
Alighieri plays the author as well as the central character. The poem is written using the

Bourgeoisie Vs Proletariat Essay
Karl Marx believed history was written in two class struggles: Bourgeoisie and Proletariat.
Bourgeoisie is the higher class who hires people and own the surplus value, which is the left over
profit. The Bourgeoisie exploits the working class for their own profit. The Proletariat is the working
class, individuals that sells their labor. The Proletariat becomes the instruments of labor. The mode of
production is the social arrangement of the productive forces within a society. There is a small group
of owners, the Bourgeoisie, that controls the means of production, which is the tools used to produce
the objects, the Proletariat. Marx believed that the working class can become non alienated by a

The roles in society is often gender based. Women are subjected to wage gaps from men, rejection
from job positions/opportunities, often seen as the caregivers, providers, and less than men. In
commercials, women are portrayed as objects, sexual appeals, and often property of men. The
revolution is the overcoming of political power (and in this case societal power). Political power...is
merely the organized power one class oppressing another. First women will see their oppression as a
personal and individual struggle. Seeking jobs is competitive so everyone is in competition. Women

Character Analysis Of Lady Capulet In Romeo And Juliet
A north pole and a south pole of two magnets pull together in a tight line. It takes a hard pull to rip
them apart. It s common knowledge. Opposites attract. How could such polar opposites pull together
so tightly? Well, logically, opposites are able to make up for what one part may lack in. In William
Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet , a play around a tragic love between two teenagers, Lady Capulet,
elegant and distant mother, and the Nurse, vulgar but kind caretaker, serve as a dramatic foil in the
story gratifying each other s character by exhibiting opposite traits. Sophisticated, lady like and
traditional, Lady Capulet is the mother of Juliet and wife of rich Capulet. She is quite distant from
Juliet, despite caring deeply about her. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In seconds, her chat flips to a joke her husband made about Juliet coming to age and falling on her
back . This shows that she is a person who is not quiet and is full of crude humor. She also cherishes
the moments she spent with Juliet as she thinks back to them only a person who cares for another will
do such things. Now, how these characters clash in their traits in almost all of their aspects. Lady
Capulet was the Lady of the house, so it s most likely that she wore fancy clothes and acted with
elegance. The Nurse, however, is more of a servant, so she would have worn simple clothing
compared to the Lady. Their way of talking are different as well. The Nurse makes many crude jokes
and sometimes can lack in vocabulary while Lady Capulet talks with authority and formality. See how
they both mourn Juliet: Nurse responds with, O woe! O woeful, woeful, woeful day / Most lamentable
day, most woeful day / O day, O day, O day, O hateful day! / O woeful day, O woeful day! (4.5. 50 55)
and the Lady cries, Accursed, unhappy, wretched, hateful day! / Most miserable hour that e er time
saw / In lasting labor of his pilgrimage. / But one, poor one, one poor and loving child, / But one thing
to rejoice and solace in, / And cruel death hath catched it from my sight! (4.5. 44 49) This emphasizes
the Nurse s vulgarity and Lady Capulet s sophistication. Speaking of

The Abolishment Of Slavery In Colonial America
After years of public momentum within Britain, Parliament abolished the British slave trade in 1807.
This was not the end, but in many ways, the beginning of what became a struggle toward the complete
abolishment of slavery throughout the Empire. This endeavor lasted well into the mid nineteenth
century as those within the planter class were not swayed by the moral arguments commonly utilized
by the abolitionist movement. While large efforts did revolve around preventing smuggling within the
coastal waters of Africa, Britain faced ensuing contention from many of its citizens who continued the
illegal importation of slaves into the British West Indies. This group had built fortunes upon the many
plantations in the Caribbean and were unwilling to give up their operations based primarily on
arguments of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Untold personal wealth was, either directly or indirectly, correlated to these intuitions of slavery, and
as described by Hilary Beckles in his writing on the colonial Caribbean, plantation culture was in
every respect symbolic of the signs of the times. These planters were not outliers from British culture,
but in innumerable ways were a precise representation of the Empire itself. Perhaps, it was in their
direct association to their fellow countrymen, that the planters within this region faced continual
notice from abolitionists. This was only magnified with the actuality that the planter group still
maintained the ownership of slaves, despite social pressures headed from abolitionist groups.
Regardless, many in Great Britain did not realize the degree to which the planter class had become
incorporated into all of society. While many plantation owners still did reside in the Caribbean, it had
become common for operations to be handed over to supervisors and administrators, thus creating a
group who were in fact quite isolated from the actuality of slave

Essay about Denali National Park
National Parks have awed tourists and even locals for years. They provide an escape from the ordinary
and relief from the everyday stress of society. National Parks provide insight into a simpler time where
our ancestors were surrounded by the beauty of nature instead of the concrete jungles of modern day
metropolitan areas. Few of these wonderful parks provide the same seclusion as Denali National Park
in Alaska. It s sights and sounds have fascinated many and will continue to provide a great escape
from everyday life. The original Mount McKinley National Park was established on February 26,
1917(Denali). It was originally founded as a wilderness area. In 1980, the park was renamed Denali

those camping in the park will have the opportunity to experience Denali through its hiking trails.
According to Denali, June is the best time of year to experience Denali hiking. There are numerous
trails where wildflowers and beautiful colored mushrooms are visible. Hiking maps are available in
the Visitor s Center for those wishing to experience this(Denali).

The Environmental Problem Of Oil Spill
Oil Spill
A B S T R A C T
Oil spill pollution, a severe environmental problem which arouses in a marine environment or in the
water bodies, has grown into an alarming scale with the increase in oil production and transportation.
Causes are either accidental or due to operational failure. Henceforth, it is almost impossible for
marine life not to be a victim of this vulnerable zone. Our planet has the largest oil reserves,
occasionally it cracks and rarely causes a major accident. However, human interference causes a
devastating damage to marine and ecosystem.
Introduction
Oil is marked as the most used non renewable natural resource throughout the planet. Innovations in
the automobile technology has increased the demand for hydrocarbons as its used for the source of
heat and light. Development in the petrochemical industry boosted the oil supply throughout the
world. Today we have miles and miles of wired petroleum pipelines and tons of crude oil on the go.
The quantity of oil transported over the sea has enormously increased in volume with tankers from a
capacity of 100,000 to 500,000 tons resulting in increased possibilities of spillage by accident. In the
event of an accident, oil pollution will be encountered in the marine environment or in inland water.
Within the past years Oil spills have created enormous debates and unhealthy concerns for the
ecosystem. On April 22nd , 2010 will be remembered as one of the darkest days in the history of oil
and gas industry.

Information processing and cognitive development Essay
Information Processing and Cognitive Development
Information processing is a perspective (approach) to the study of cognition and cognitive
development in which the mind is likened to a computer. However, rather than focusing on mere input
and output, psychologists who adhere to this approach place specific emphasis on the processes of
cognitive development. Cognitive perspectives examine development in terms of mental processing.
The two major views within this subject are cognitive developmental theory and information
processing theory.
Theorists claim that our cognitive processes are like that of a computer. They have used this as a
model to break down the process of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Processing capacity is the amount of information a person can remember or think about ay one time.
Researchers measure it by representing a series of information very quickly and counting how many
items a person can remember in exact order this changes in processing capacity help explain age
differences on many kinds of cognitive tasks (learned tasks). As children mature an their capacity
grows, they gain the ability to consider several sources of information at the same time, and their
cognitive processing becomes more flexible and powerful (Cook).
When the brain recognizes familiar tasks it processes the information and applies the correct rules to
the procedure in order to reduce the demand on the working memory and allow for higher order
processing of information. Automaticity is the ability to effortlessly complete everyday tasks with low
interference of other simultaneous activities and without conscious thought. The development of
automaticity involves a shift in brain usage and a reduction in brain activity. As skills are repeated, the
brain recognizes the information and can process it more quickly and with less effort(Cook).
Attention becomes more sustained and selective with age; children become better at focusing on just
those aspects of a situation that are relevant to their goals. Older children are also better at adapting
attention to task requirements. Gains in cognitive inhibition,

History Of The Periodic Table Of Elements
Leonardo Miranda Mr. Tagami Chemistry 10/24/14 History of the Periodic Table of Elements The
construction of the Periodic Table of Elements was prior to the discovery of the individual elements.
Elements such as silver, gold, tin, copper, lead and mercury have been known for centuries. In 1649,
the first scientific discovery of an element was made by Hennig Brand when he discovered
phosphorous. Prior to Brand s discovery, chemists had acquired an immense body of understanding
concerning the properties of elements and their compounds for the next 200 years. By the year 1869, a
collection of 63 elements had been revealed. As the number of known elements increased, scientists
began to notice patterns in properties and formulate classification schemes. In 1862, a French
geologist, A.E.Beguyer de Chancourtois, recorded a list of the elements on a cylinder regarding their
individual atomic weights. He was the first to identify that elemental properties reoccur every seven
elements. There has been some deviation on who deserves credit for being the father of the periodic
table, either the German Lothar Meyer or the Russian Dmitri Mendeleev. Both chemists shockingly
produced similar results during the same time period working individually. Meyer s 1864 textbook
included a shortened version of the periodic table, which contained about half of the known elements
ordered by their atomic weight and valence charges. In 1868, Meyer assembled a prolonged version of
the periodic

Anton Chekhov s The Cherry Orchard
Anton Chekhov s The Cherry Orchard Analysis of Comedic Characters Anton Chekhov s The Cherry
Orchard is one of his most famous plays, despite the fact that the comedic aspect is often questioned.
The Cherry Orchard records the tale of a wealthy Russian family who are faced with the loss of their
estate due to bankruptcy, while also facing the reality of losing their beloved cherry orchard. Titled as
a comedy, it seeks to disclose the family and household dynamics during this brief period. The
wealthy family is in so much debt that they are being forced to sell their beloved cherry orchard, a
symbol of the affluent past that the family was accustomed to. The Cherry Orchard does not appear to
be a comedy in our modern day sense of the word, which is the reason that it can be so difficult for the
21st century reader to understand why the play is labeled a comedy and not a tragedy. In Checkhov s
work, the characters are one of the most prominent comedic forces driving the play. French
philosopher Henri Bergson s once summarized comedic character by saying that, Comedic character is
rigid or inflexible in circumstances that demand a resiliency of the mind or body (Fiero). Through the
lens of this definition, we conclude that the primary circumstances that demand(s) a resiliency of the
mind or body for the characters in The Cherry Orchard are the selling of the cherry orchard and the
loss of their class prominence. We will be considering Chekhov s comedic style

  • 3. Japan And India Dbq Essay Throughout the late 1800s to the early 1900s, both japan and India saw a rise in the use of machines in the textile industry. Both showed similar recruitment techniques, but were not so similar in who the workers were and their working conditions. The Indian textiles chart showed how India used machines to produce greater yarn and cloth amounts in 1914 as compared to the production in 1884. As well it demonstrated how the amount of people using machine made textiles had greatly increased opposed to hand made textiles (Doc 1). In 1916 Radhakamal Mukerjee, an Indian economist, explains how that handwoven textiles cannot keep up with the machine made textiles, and therefore is on a decline (Doc 6). This identifies how India is moving towards ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On top of that they were not paid much or at all for the first year of their work (Doc 3). When the horrifically high number of sick people at the factory is added, the working conditions in the Japanese textile factories seem barely livable. In contrast the Indian factory workers lived in their own huts and worked for only two years (Doc 9). This shows much better living conditions for Indian workers than Japanese workers. • 4. Giving Advice For Communication Tech Users Giving Advice to Communication Tech Users Communication is involved in both virtual setting and face to face settings. You may not think so, but it is true. There is a lack of effective communication in a email that people may not realize. It really depends on who you are sending that email to. If you are talking to someone who is like a friend, boy friend or girlfriend, or relative, you may text them with emojois and exclamation marks. Now, if you were sending an email to a doctor, a lawyer, or for a job application, it would be completely different. You would sound more mature. Do you see the difference? Although, it is important to have effective communication in every single email, it does not matter who you are talking to. Here are some mistakes people make sending an email, and also solutions to make the email better and have effective communication.  Mistake: People are not clear with their messages: This can make the person that is reading this very confused. They are not getting the main idea across of what the email is about. Then you two would keep going back and forth with emails.  Solution: How to make your email clear and specific is to look at the email as an outline for writing a one page essay. That means make bullet points for the parts you want to say in your email. You want to make it clear and short. Don t make your email sound like a list of things because you may repeat the same thing. You want the person who is reading the email to have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Web-Based Education However, there are a few issues to be dealt with if web based learning is fully implemented in educational institutions. Firstly, change in learning theories and approaches may lead to confusion or difficulties among teachers and students (Web based Learning: Good or Bad?). As discussed earlier, in web based learning approach, teachers are facilitators and motivators. It is up to the students in carrying out the activities planned by the teachers creatively and constructs their knowledge about the lesson by themselves with guide from the teachers. Therefore, some of the students might feel lost especially during the early stages of implementation of this approach as they are used to be spoon fed and depend solely on the teachers to give ... Therefore, implementation of web based learning in educational institutions might be quite difficult due to issues such as change in learning approach leads to confusion and difficulties for teachers and students, and the problem of computer illiteracy and connection and bandwidth issues. All in all, web based learning leads to some changes in teachers and students role in learning processes, and it also comes with some prospects and issues in implementing the approach in educational institutions. However, if it is to be viewed from the perspective of education in Malaysia, we are moving towards the implementation of this innovative approach. The students themselves were annoying, but add in the teachers, it was pure chaos. It gave me the chills just talking about it. Daydreaming again, Jill The teacher smiled at me. I looked up from my phone. No I m just bored I said, she gave me a sad smile before continuing with her lecture. I shook my head as I looked back down at my phone. I cursed it when the battery died. I pushed it in my pocket and put some hair behind my ear. It s like every teacher expected me to be a good girl. It was my destiny to push my brother down, but that didn t mean that I couldn t take the whole school with me. It was like I was compared to my brother 24/7. He was the star of the whole school, not even one prince could compare to how he played football. It was his only talent, I called him brain dead whilst the school called him the miracle we needed . I always rolled my eyes when they said it. I was the bad girl of the school while he was the good guy. I didn t want to grow up and smash my brothers crown . • 7. Communication Is A Vital Weapon Of American Politics Communication is a vital weapon in American politics. Our leaders have won and lost our favor with organized speech since before the signing of the declaration of independence. With a well written speech, and a practiced delivery, one man can change the views of our entire country. No one has done this more successfully than Ronald Reagan. When Ronald Reagan gave the televised speech A Time for Choosing for the Barry Goldwater Campaign in 1964, he changed the way that American campaign speeches would be given forever. According to critics, his performance is the most effective of its kind, prompting comparisons to William Jennings Bryan as a great American speaker and earning him the title of The Great Communicator. Despite the wide acclaim, the speech did not work as Goldwater lost the election by a cavernous margin. So, why was his speech considered a success if the candidate it was supposed to bolster did not even win the election? While many explanations are offered about the success of this speech by scholars, this paper will focus on the most widely supported school of thought, The Teflon President . More formally, this paper will argue that Reagan solidifies his identity as The Great Communicator during his A Time for Choosing speech, by using unprecedented rhetorical strategies in order to create and unify an audience around his new conservative populism. This paper will first provide historical context for the speech, then the paper will address the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sullivan Liberty University Abstract Missionaries have a unique calling accompanied by unique challenges over the course of their service. As these individuals and families face these challenges, depression can be an enemy that hinders and even stops the good work they perform. While most of the time a professional counselor can be seen in the United States to help with depression, a therapist may not be so readily available in remote parts of the world. This paper looks at the factors that may lead to depression for those on the mission field and some preventative measures that may be taken to avoid major depression. The well being ... However, the reality is that for the missionary today on the foreign field, when persecution, loneliness, despair, frustration, and temptation manifest themselves it can take its toll physically and psychologically. In Luke 14:28, the Lord instructs in the biblical text to count the cost of an endeavor before you undertake it. This not only should be done financially, but emotionally, physically, and psychologically as well. It is recognized that wherever God calls He will give that individual and family what they need holistically to accomplish the task at hand. At the same time, a call to serve is a call to prepare oneself for service and it should be recognized that there are always consequences to our decisions. This preparation time includes not only a seminary education and experience in ministry, but psychological stability is paramount for these missionaries. Many sending agencies have a thorough psychological screening process in place and some do not. • 12. The Influence Of Student Habits And Student Athletes For any college student, one of the most important things to be learned is good time management and study skills. This becomes even more imperative when the student in question is an athlete and has the majority of their day planned out for them. Being a student athlete comes with its own unique set of challenges, including finding a way to balance the amount of time they allot to the sport they play and to their studies. It is a common perception that student athletes spend less time and efforts on their studies than the average college student, but it is not that simple. When considering whether or not student athletes focus the appropriate amount of time on school work, it is necessary to take a deeper look at why they focus on what they do, and some of the factors that influence an athlete and the academic habits they have formed. If student athletes are focusing more on athletics, it would be helpful to understand what drives them to do so; likewise, knowing why athletes are just as dedicated to their academics as they are athletics could help pave the way for all student athletes in the future. Most athletes that are more concerned with their academics have something or someone that influence their academic habits. Influencing factors can include things such as needing to maintain a certain GPA for their coach or a scholarship, or potentially that they use the drive they have developed as an athlete off the court as well. The mechanical properties of graphene have been investigated using various experimental, theoretical and computational approaches. By experimental based work, Lee et al. [1] estimated the mechanical properties of graphene such as Young s modulus of about 1.0 ± 0.1 TPa and fracture strength of 130 ± 10 GPa. Frank et al. [2] estimated Young s modulus of 0.5 TPa for 2 to 8nm thickness of graphene sheets. Zhang et al. [3] measured Young s modulus of 0.89 TPa for single layer graphene sheet. Besides experimental work, numerous theoretical and computational studies have been carried out to investigate mechanical properties of graphene. By orthogonal tight binding method Zhao et al. [4] estimated Young s modulus of 1.01 ± 0.03 and fracture strength and strain of 107 GPa and 0.20 in zigzag direction and 90 GPa and 0.13 in armchair direction respectively. • 16. Electromagnetics Ruined Britain In order to properly talk about radar, or Radio Detection and Ranging as it was once called, we must first look at the history of radio waves and how eating carrots saved Britain. During the late years of the 19th century, many advances were being made in the field of electromagnetism. James Maxwell, among his many discoveries, stated that electromagnetic waves produced through oscillating charges could propagate through space at the speed of light. Heinrich Hertz managed to prove this hypothesis in 1887 in his famous radio experiment. Shortly after arriving in Karlsruhe, Hertz found some large induction coils that could produce a pulsed high voltage and a pair of spark micrometers with brass knobs forming an adjustable spark gap, which he hoped could be used to transmit electromagnetic waves as predicted by Maxwell. With a battery and an interrupter attached to the primary coil, he could obtain a pulsed high voltage across a secondary coil. Immediately following this victory, the allies began research into developing electric warfare to counteract technological advances by the Germans. After gathering enough intelligence on the German antiaircraft radar and their communication, the allies began using chaffs, and airborne jammers in order to suppress German air defenses (2). • 17. Who Was Nikola Tesla Is An American Inventor Who do you think of when you hear the word genius? You most likely think of Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, Charles Darwin, or another famous name that we hear throughout our lives. However, I doubt Nikola Tesla comes to your mind. Nikola Tesla was a Serbian inventor in the 1880s, whose advances in electrical technology rivaled those of Thomas Edison. Tesla had one of the greatest minds in recorded history, so why isn t he as well known as these other so called geniuses? Who exactly was Nikola Tesla, not only as an inventor, but as a person? Nikola Tesla was born to Djuka Mandic and Milutin Tesla on July 9th or 10th in 1856 in Smiljan, Croatia (part of the Austrian Empire at the time). Tesla s father was an Orthodox priest and a writer. As Tesla grew up, his father tried to convince him to follow in his footsteps and join the priesthood. Tesla, however, was uninterested in being like his father and instead found a love in science. This love most likely came from his mother. Though she was illiterate and uneducated, she often made small inventions to help her around the household. In the 1870s, Tesla studied at ... • 18. Spectral Band Replication in Audio Coding Spectral Band Replication (SBR) is a novel audio spectrum recovery technology, it can greatly improve the efficiency of perceptual audio coding compression, and thus more suitable for streaming media applications with limited bandwidth. It will be widely used in the world of digital broadcasting, the third generation mobile communications, multimedia downloads, video on demand and other services. SBR use parametric coding technique that involves complex algorithms; simply take a long time by the hardware circuit design. And this design cannot keep up with the constant development of audio standards. In other words: When a new standard integration into the decoder, it takes a long time to complete the new circuit design, the original method will no longer have a market value. Be achieved only using the software in power consumption and cost requirements are higher for portable applications with limited competition. With the increasing complexity and diversity of multimedia signal processing requirements, hardware and software co design concept has been widely applied to the actual design. The two main reasons why Spectral Band Replication can fit our needs are: First, SBR is capable of reproducing the high frequency band by using the correlation information which transmitted along with the low frequency band. Therefore, we can save the bits which were reserved for coding high frequency band without actually lost the high frequency signal. Second, it is more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another reason is due to depreciation of the US dollar as it depreciates people want to spend more in gold to hedge against inflation so the prices of gold is increasing. The cost of country s economy is determined by oil prices so oil plays a vital role in the economy of the US. Generally high oil prices badly impacts the performance of the stock market and high oil prices means that people may considered to invest more in stock market. Hamilton (1993), Gisser and Goodwin (1988), and Daniel (1997) have shown that there is a strong relationship between the oil prices and stock markets. Several further have been done by Jones and Kaul (1996), Sadorsky (1999) and Faff and Brailsford (1999) in order to explain this relationship. Sadorsky (2003) used the vector correction model to verify the relationship between the oil and stock prices. Abken (1980) have shown that inflation influences the gold prices and proved that they have a positive correlation where as Mahdavi and Zhou (1997) found out that gold is no longer inflation protective asset. Pulsing Target Gene Induction Some signal transduction systems produce multiple pulses of target gene expression in succession when exposed to a constant level of stimulus (Levine et al., 2013) (Fig. 1.1B). Although pulsing is similar to transcriptional bursting in that target gene expression levels increase and decrease repetitively, pulsing is regulated by genetic circuits that activate and deactivate pathway output regulators with a defined frequency and amplitude instead of relying on stochastic gene expression (Levine et al., 2013; Raj and van Oudenaarden, 2008). In response to γ irradiation mediated DNA damage, ATM kinase activates the tumor suppressor protein, p53, via phosphorylation. Once activated, p53 initiates two negative feedback loops. The first negative feedback loop is caused by p53 activating the expression of the E3 ubiquitin ligase Mdm2, allowing Mdm2 to target p53 for degradation. The second negative feedback loop is the result of p53 activating the expression of the phosphatase Wip1, which dephosphorylates p53 and therefore reduces its stability. Wip1 also targets ATM kinase, which requires phosphorylation in order to be in the active state. Therefore, the increased activity of Wip1 silences ATM kinase, which prevents the activation of p53. If DNA damage persists in the cell, ATM kinase activates p53 once more after Wip1 expression levels have subsided. Pulsing of p53 activity results in cell cycle arrest and DNA repair, and continues until DNA damage has been completely repaired. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Keynes s analysis in Chapter 12 of the General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money suggests that capitalism is inherently unstable due to its financial structure . Discuss outlining Keynes s analysis of the stock market and identifying the related policy conclusions he reaches. In Chapter 12 of the General Theory of Employment, John Maynard Keynes focused on examining the stock market and how it functions, in the sense of its structure and how it is affected by the behavior of investors because he believed the behavior of the stock market affects the aggregate demand, hence the rest of the economic system. Keynes (1936, p155 56) describes the stock market using an analogy between professional investment and newspaper beauty contest: Professional investment may be likened to those newspaper competitions in which the competitors have to pick out the six prettiest faces from a hundred photographs, the prize being awarded to the competitor whose choice most nearly corresponds to the average preferences of the competitors as a whole...It is not a case of choosing those which, to the best of one s judgment, are really the prettiest, nor even those which average opinion genuinely thinks the prettiest. We have reached the third degree where we devote our intelligence to anticipating what average opinion expects the average opinion to be. And there are some, I believe, who practice the fourth, fifth, and higher degrees. The Stock Market decisions work based on conventional values too, where each is not concerned with determining the real stock value, but the market value the community will place on the stock, before everyone else does. Keynes observes some other features of this situation within the stock market. This type of liquidity not only leads to future fluctuations in physical asset investment, but also creates fluctuations of the daily profit on investments which further influences the market. One of the key themes Keynes observes is that there is plenty of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A deep analysis of The Divine Comedy reveals that the poem is in a way, a story about Dante s journey throughout life to the final salvation. The opening canto of the poem starts in the middle of Dante s life, where he finds himself in a dark wood, with no clear direction in which to go. This canto becomes the introduction to the Divine Comedy. The poem, (considered to be one of the greatest works in the history of literature) is viewed as the finest work in the whole of Italian literature. Famous during its time, the poem seems to somewhat represent the medieval world view (similar to that which had been developed by the Western Church in the 14th century). This representation is brought about by the poem through excellent imaginative vision of the afterlife. The Environmental Problem Of Oil Spill Oil Spill A B S T R A C T Oil spill pollution, a severe environmental problem which arouses in a marine environment or in the water bodies, has grown into an alarming scale with the increase in oil production and transportation. Causes are either accidental or due to operational failure. Henceforth, it is almost impossible for marine life not to be a victim of this vulnerable zone. Our planet has the largest oil reserves, occasionally it cracks and rarely causes a major accident. However, human interference causes a devastating damage to marine and ecosystem. Introduction Oil is marked as the most used non renewable natural resource throughout the planet. Innovations in the automobile technology has increased the demand for hydrocarbons as its used for the source of heat and light. Development in the petrochemical industry boosted the oil supply throughout the world. Today we have miles and miles of wired petroleum pipelines and tons of crude oil on the go. The quantity of oil transported over the sea has enormously increased in volume with tankers from a capacity of 100,000 to 500,000 tons resulting in increased possibilities of spillage by accident. In the event of an accident, oil pollution will be encountered in the marine environment or in inland water. History Of The Periodic Table Of Elements Leonardo Miranda Mr. Tagami Chemistry 10/24/14 History of the Periodic Table of Elements The construction of the Periodic Table of Elements was prior to the discovery of the individual elements. Elements such as silver, gold, tin, copper, lead and mercury have been known for centuries. In 1649, the first scientific discovery of an element was made by Hennig Brand when he discovered phosphorous. Prior to Brand s discovery, chemists had acquired an immense body of understanding concerning the properties of elements and their compounds for the next 200 years. By the year 1869, a collection of 63 elements had been revealed. As the number of known elements increased, scientists began to notice patterns in properties and formulate classification schemes. In 1862, a French geologist, A.E.Beguyer de Chancourtois, recorded a list of the elements on a cylinder regarding their individual atomic weights. He was the first to identify that elemental properties reoccur every seven elements. There has been some deviation on who deserves credit for being the father of the periodic table, either the German Lothar Meyer or the Russian Dmitri Mendeleev. Both chemists shockingly produced similar results during the same time period working individually. Meyer s 1864 textbook included a shortened version of the periodic table, which contained about half of the known elements ordered by their atomic weight and valence charges. • 35. Anton Chekhov s The Cherry Orchard Anton Chekhov s The Cherry Orchard Analysis of Comedic Characters Anton Chekhov s The Cherry Orchard is one of his most famous plays, despite the fact that the comedic aspect is often questioned. The Cherry Orchard records the tale of a wealthy Russian family who are faced with the loss of their estate due to bankruptcy, while also facing the reality of losing their beloved cherry orchard. Titled as a comedy, it seeks to disclose the family and household dynamics during this brief period. The wealthy family is in so much debt that they are being forced to sell their beloved cherry orchard, a symbol of the affluent past that the family was accustomed to. The Cherry Orchard does not appear to be a comedy in our modern day sense of the word, which is the reason that it can be so difficult for the 21st century reader to understand why the play is labeled a comedy and not a tragedy. In Checkhov s work, the characters are one of the most prominent comedic forces driving the play. French philosopher Henri Bergson s once summarized comedic character by saying that, Comedic character is rigid or inflexible in circumstances that demand a resiliency of the mind or body (Fiero). Through the lens of this definition, we conclude that the primary circumstances that demand(s) a resiliency of the mind or body for the characters in The Cherry Orchard are the selling of the cherry orchard and the loss of their class prominence.
