4.1 Scope
This chapter will examine the process of installing Windows SharePoint Services v3 onto
Windows Small Business Server 2003 (SBS). For information about installing WSS v3
onto a standalone Windows server see Chapter 3 – Installing Windows SharePoint
Services 3.0 onto Windows Server 2003.
For information about upgrading and migrating from an existing version of Windows
SharePoint Services see the Chapter 7 – Migration and Upgrading.
4.2 Prerequisites
There are a number of requirements of any Small Business Server 2003 (SBS) onto which
you plan to install WSS v3. These minimum requirements are:
- Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1
- Dot Net Framework Version 3.0
- Internet Information Services (IIS) configured with ASP .NET
- SharePoint Services v2 Service Pack 2
WSS v3 cannot take advantage of all the email options available when installed on Small
Business Server 2003 (due to the presence of Exchange Server 2003). If this functionality
is desired then it is recommended that WSS v3 be installed onto a Windows 2003
member server.
Data storage location
WSS v3 has the ability to store data in a number of locations, including Microsoft SQL
Server 2005 Express Embedded Edition (SSEE) that comes with WSS v3. The planned
location of your WSS v3 data will have an impact on the method by which you complete
the installation process. For further information about these options and impact please
see the Chapter 8 - Database Operations.
Once these requirements have been it met it is also advisable to ensure that the
machine on which you wish to install WSS v3 is updated with all the latest patches and
service packs. It is also advisable to do a reboot of the system prior to WSS v3
installation to ensure a clean installation environment.
For further information about prerequisites please see Chapter 14 – Prerequisites.

Advanced installation
After meeting all the server prerequisites and downloading the WSS v3 software from
the Microsoft web site (or from the subscriber DVD), log on to the server as an
administrator and commence the installation by double clicking on the sharepoint.exe
file.
The installation file will be checked and extracted to your machine and then the setup
process will start.
The first window to be displayed will be the Microsoft Software License Terms. After
reviewing this, check the - I accept the terms of this agreement in the lower left of the
window and press the Continue button.

Since Small Business Server 2003 normally already has a previous version of SharePoint
installed (v2) the above window is displayed asking whether you wish to upgrade this
existing version.
It is critical that you DO NOT choose to upgrade the existing SharePoint v2 installation.
Doing this will cause a number of Small Business Server 2003 settings to stop working. It
is therefore recommended that you do a side by side installation. This will allow both
SharePoint v2 and WSS v3 to run on the Small Business Server 2003. To facilitate this
select the option – No, do not upgrade at this time from the Upgrade tab.

Moving to the Server Type tab allows you to select the type of installation you wish to
complete. In this case because we wish to do an Advanced Installation and specify the
location of our databases select the option – Web Front End.

The Data Location tab allows you to specify where the WSS v3 program files will be
stored. By default these will be installed in c:program filescommon filesMicrosoft
sharedweb server extensions12data. You can specify any location by changing the
entry displayed. It is recommended that you only change the drive letter if necessary to
ensure compatibility and ease of future support.
Once you have made your selections click the Install Now button in the lower right of
the window to continue.
WSS v3 will now be installed onto your system with the options you have previously
selected.

When the installation is successfully completed you will see the above window. By
default, the Run the SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard now
option is selected. If you wish to configure WSS v3 at a later stage simply uncheck this
option. Press the Close button to continue.

If you selected to run the configuration wizard then the following window will appear.
The window warns you that to complete the wizard you require:
- Name of database server and database where server farm configuration will
be stored.
- Username and password for the database access account that will administer
the server farm.
Press the Next button to continue.
You will now receive a warning that the wizard will start or restart the following
services:
- Internet Information Service (IIS)
- SharePoint Administration Service
- SharePoint Timer Service
You need to be aware that this operation may have an impact on other applications that
use these services which could impact network users interacting with these.
If you wish to proceed with the installation press the Yes button.

You are now presented with an option to either connect to an existing WSS v3
‘SharePoint farm’ or create a new server farm. In this case, because it is a new
installation select – No, I want to create a new server farm and press the Next button
to continue.
Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto
Small Business Server 2003
© www.ciaops.com
29 December 2014 Page 12
Because you selected the option to create a new farm you will now be prompted for the
location of your database server. The Advanced Installation option selected previously
does not automatically install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Embedded Edition
(SSEE) and thus you will need to already have a compatible database server available on
your network. Typically, this database server will be Microsoft SQL (2000, 2005 Express,
2005 Workgroup, 2005 Standard etc). For more information about the WSS v3 database
options see Chapter 8 – Database Operations.
Typically, with Small Business Server 2003, SQL will be installed on the same machine.
You therefore enter the database server name as <SBS_SERVER_name> and the
database access account as <username> (you may need to use domain<user_name>
depending on the way SQL Server was installed). By default, the WSS v3 configuration
database will be called SharePoint_config, which you are able to change if you desire.
When these options are complete, press the Next button to continue.
Now you will be prompted the set the SharePoint Central Administration Web Site port
number if you want. By default, the installation will choose a random port. This
configuration will ensure that the Administration site doesn’t conflict with an existing
webs site (especially the default web site on port 80). It is recommended that you leave
this option unchecked so the installation can choose a free random port.
You are also prompted for the authentication provider required for WSS v3 security.
This provider is referenced by WSS v3 to determine who has access to the information
Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto
Small Business Server 2003

in WSS v3. It is possible to change this at a later stage, however initially, it is
recommended that it be left as NTLM.
When this is complete press the Next button to continue.
You are now finally presented with a summary of your installation choices. After
reviewing these press the Next button to continue.

The configuration wizard will now run through about ten or so stages to complete the
configuration on the server. During this process there is no option to enter further
information and the only option available is to press the Cancel button to halt the
process.

Once the wizard has completed all the steps you will see the above summary screen
indicating that the configuration was successful. Press the Finish button to continue.
With the Advanced installation option selected at the beginning of this installation we
now need to configure a WSS v3 web site and site collection. This is done through the
SharePoint v3 Central Administration which is automatically displayed upon the
completion of the configuration wizard.
For more detailed information about configuring a WSS v3 website and site collection
see the Chapter 5 – SharePoint Central Administration. The following steps will take
you through the basic steps to getting a WSS v3 site operational.
Under Administrator Tasks select the option – Create SharePoint sites.

Small Business Server 2003
© www.ciaops.com
29 December 2014 Page 17
Unlike the installation on a standalone WSS v3 dedicated Windows Server 2003, Small
Business Server 2003 already has a default production web site operating on port 80. To
overcome this we must configure a ‘host header’ to allow different websites to function
over the same TCP port.
Ensure that you insert a suitable host header into this page in the Host Header field, this
will be the text that network users will use to access the new WSS v3 site. In this case it
will be http://sharepoint3. It is also recommended that you change the Description field
to something more meaningful.

will receive and error message saying that the site can’t be found. Some additional
configuration now has to be completed before the new site is available.
An entry for the new WSS v3 site needs to be added to DNS. To do this go Start |
Administrative Tools | DNS to launch the DNS configuration utility on the Small
Business Server 2003.

The final step is to ensure that the site has been enabled for searching. Because this
server was installed using the advanced method and as a web front end, search services
will probably not be configured.
Run the SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration on the SBS Server by logging into the
server as an administrator and then select Start | Administrative Tools | SharePoint 3.0

the account that will access the content during indexing. Note that this account will be
given full read-only access to all content.
It is recommended that you enter these accounts as <domain><user>.
To continue configuring, scroll down the screen.
You can now enter the search database server and name. Normally it is recommended
that you don’t change these from their default settings. It is also recommended that you
use Windows Authentication.
Lastly, select how often you wish indexing to take place. Remember that frequent
indexing will impact on the performance of your server but will ensure changed content
is quickly searchable. You will not be able to see any search results until an indexing
crawl of your WSS v3 content has completed.
Press the Start button to save your configuration.

In the list that is displayed select the original WSS v3 site that was created by the default
installation. Normally this will be the name of your server (in this case vmsbs2003p).
Ensure that you don’t select the new WSS v3 site you just created (in this case
sharepoint3).
You should now be returned to the Delete Web Application screen. You should now see
the WSS v3 site you wish to delete listed next to Web Application. Once again ensure
that this displays the name of the default WSS v3 site not the new WSS v3 site you just
created (typically the site to be deleted will have the Small Business Server 2003 name).
Ensure that you also select the options to delete the content databases and the IIS web
site. This will ensure all reference to the default WSS v3 site are removed from your
server.
When ready press the Delete button to continue. You will then be prompted with a
message asking you whether you are sure you wish to delete the site. Select OK to
delete the default WSS v3 site.
Now an entry for the new WSS v3 site needs to be added to DNS. To do this go Start |
Administrative Tools | DNS to launch the DNS configuration utility on the Small
Business Server 2003.

At this stage it is recommended that you restart Internet Information Services to ensure
that all the sites on the Small Business Server 2003 (including the new WSS v3) work
correctly. To complete the reset go to the command prompt via Start | Run | CMD.
Then at the DOS prompt type iisreset. When this process is complete, close the DOS
window.
If you now return to your web browser and type the name of the Small Business Server
2003 into the address line (in this case http://vmsbs2003p/) you should see the familiar
Small Business Server 2003 home page as shown above.
Open a browser window and type the name of your WSS v3 site into the address line.

Your WSS v3 web site should now be displayed.
4.4 Replacing Companyweb
SharePoint v2 comes as an integrated component of Windows Small Business Server
2003 and is accessed via the URL http://companyweb. It is possible to install WSS v3
also on a Windows Small Business Server 2003, however it must be done in side by side
mode (see section 4.3 above).
Following the procedure illustrated here it is possible to have a WSS v3 site on a
Windows Small Business Server 2003 become http://companyweb. However, it must be
stressed that this is by no means supported by Microsoft and may result in issues arising
from future updates of Windows Small Business Server 2003. Just because it is possible
doesn’t mean that you should do it!

Small Business Server 2003

29 December 2014 Page 64
The first step in the process is to create a new DNS name entry for the existing
http://companyweb site so that it can remain active (but under a different name). To do
this, logon to the Windows Small Business Server 2003 as an administrator and select
Start | Administrative Tools | DNS to launch the DNS Manager console.

Locate your domain folder under the Forward Lookup Zones. Right mouse click in a
blank area on the right where all the domain DNS entries are and select New Host (A)
from the menu that appears.
Enter the new DNS name you wish your old http://companyweb site to be known by (in
this case companyweb2). Enter the IP Address as the IP address of the Windows Small
Business Server 2003 machine (in this case 10.0.1.2). Next press the Add Host button to
add the record to DNS.

Access Windows Small Business server Remote Web Workplace and login.
When you select the option to view your company’s internal web site you should now
see WSS v3.
You will need to note that using WSS v3 as a Companyweb replacement will “break” the
fax delivery to SharePoint. This normally could be solved by simply sending faxes to an
email enabled list. Unfortunately, WSS v3 on Small Business Server does not support
inbound emails due to the presence of Exchange server on the same server. Thus,
inbound faxing to SharePoint will remain “broken” as you have replaced Companyweb
with WSS v3. This is generally why installing WSS v3 on a member server in a Small
Business Server domain is a better idea, because it will allow WSS v3 lists to accept
inbound emails.
4.5 Conclusion
Prior to any installation you need to decide on what type of installation you wish to
perform, advanced, or default. Each of these options presents a number of different
options that can be selected during the installation process and can affect the future
growth of your installation.
After installation you should also check that the search functionality has been enabled.
More information about this can be found in Chapter 9 – Advanced Configuration and
Chapter 11 – Search.

  • 3. Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 3 4.1 Scope This chapter will examine the process of installing Windows SharePoint Services v3 onto Windows Small Business Server 2003 (SBS). For information about installing WSS v3 onto a standalone Windows server see Chapter 3 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Windows Server 2003. For information about upgrading and migrating from an existing version of Windows SharePoint Services see the Chapter 7 – Migration and Upgrading. 4.2 Prerequisites There are a number of requirements of any Small Business Server 2003 (SBS) onto which you plan to install WSS v3. These minimum requirements are: - Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 - Dot Net Framework Version 3.0 - Internet Information Services (IIS) configured with ASP .NET - SharePoint Services v2 Service Pack 2 WSS v3 cannot take advantage of all the email options available when installed on Small Business Server 2003 (due to the presence of Exchange Server 2003). If this functionality is desired then it is recommended that WSS v3 be installed onto a Windows 2003 member server. Data storage location WSS v3 has the ability to store data in a number of locations, including Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Embedded Edition (SSEE) that comes with WSS v3. The planned location of your WSS v3 data will have an impact on the method by which you complete the installation process. For further information about these options and impact please see the Chapter 8 - Database Operations. Once these requirements have been it met it is also advisable to ensure that the machine on which you wish to install WSS v3 is updated with all the latest patches and service packs. It is also advisable to do a reboot of the system prior to WSS v3 installation to ensure a clean installation environment. For further information about prerequisites please see Chapter 14 – Prerequisites.
  • 4. Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 4 4.3 Installation In this section we’ll cover the following installations: - Advanced installation - Default installation
  • 5. Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 5 Advanced installation After meeting all the server prerequisites and downloading the WSS v3 software from the Microsoft web site (or from the subscriber DVD), log on to the server as an administrator and commence the installation by double clicking on the sharepoint.exe file. The installation file will be checked and extracted to your machine and then the setup process will start. The first window to be displayed will be the Microsoft Software License Terms. After reviewing this, check the - I accept the terms of this agreement in the lower left of the window and press the Continue button.
  • 6. Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 6 Since Small Business Server 2003 normally already has a previous version of SharePoint installed (v2) the above window is displayed asking whether you wish to upgrade this existing version. It is critical that you DO NOT choose to upgrade the existing SharePoint v2 installation. Doing this will cause a number of Small Business Server 2003 settings to stop working. It is therefore recommended that you do a side by side installation. This will allow both SharePoint v2 and WSS v3 to run on the Small Business Server 2003. To facilitate this select the option – No, do not upgrade at this time from the Upgrade tab.
  • 7. Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 7 Moving to the Server Type tab allows you to select the type of installation you wish to complete. In this case because we wish to do an Advanced Installation and specify the location of our databases select the option – Web Front End.
  • 8. Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 8 The Data Location tab allows you to specify where the WSS v3 program files will be stored. By default these will be installed in c:program filescommon filesMicrosoft sharedweb server extensions12data. You can specify any location by changing the entry displayed. It is recommended that you only change the drive letter if necessary to ensure compatibility and ease of future support. Once you have made your selections click the Install Now button in the lower right of the window to continue. WSS v3 will now be installed onto your system with the options you have previously selected.
  • 9. Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 9 When the installation is successfully completed you will see the above window. By default, the Run the SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard now option is selected. If you wish to configure WSS v3 at a later stage simply uncheck this option. Press the Close button to continue.
  • 10. Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 10 If you selected to run the configuration wizard then the following window will appear. The window warns you that to complete the wizard you require: - Name of database server and database where server farm configuration will be stored. - Username and password for the database access account that will administer the server farm. Press the Next button to continue. You will now receive a warning that the wizard will start or restart the following services: - Internet Information Service (IIS) - SharePoint Administration Service - SharePoint Timer Service You need to be aware that this operation may have an impact on other applications that use these services which could impact network users interacting with these. If you wish to proceed with the installation press the Yes button.
  • 11. Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 11 You are now presented with an option to either connect to an existing WSS v3 ‘SharePoint farm’ or create a new server farm. In this case, because it is a new installation select – No, I want to create a new server farm and press the Next button to continue.
  • 12. Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 12 Because you selected the option to create a new farm you will now be prompted for the location of your database server. The Advanced Installation option selected previously does not automatically install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Embedded Edition (SSEE) and thus you will need to already have a compatible database server available on your network. Typically, this database server will be Microsoft SQL (2000, 2005 Express, 2005 Workgroup, 2005 Standard etc). For more information about the WSS v3 database options see Chapter 8 – Database Operations. Typically, with Small Business Server 2003, SQL will be installed on the same machine. You therefore enter the database server name as <SBS_SERVER_name> and the database access account as <username> (you may need to use domain<user_name> depending on the way SQL Server was installed). By default, the WSS v3 configuration database will be called SharePoint_config, which you are able to change if you desire. When these options are complete, press the Next button to continue. Now you will be prompted the set the SharePoint Central Administration Web Site port number if you want. By default, the installation will choose a random port. This configuration will ensure that the Administration site doesn’t conflict with an existing webs site (especially the default web site on port 80). It is recommended that you leave this option unchecked so the installation can choose a free random port. You are also prompted for the authentication provider required for WSS v3 security. This provider is referenced by WSS v3 to determine who has access to the information
  • 13. Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 13 in WSS v3. It is possible to change this at a later stage, however initially, it is recommended that it be left as NTLM. When this is complete press the Next button to continue. You are now finally presented with a summary of your installation choices. After reviewing these press the Next button to continue.
  • 14. Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 14 The configuration wizard will now run through about ten or so stages to complete the configuration on the server. During this process there is no option to enter further information and the only option available is to press the Cancel button to halt the process.
  • 15. Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 15 Once the wizard has completed all the steps you will see the above summary screen indicating that the configuration was successful. Press the Finish button to continue. With the Advanced installation option selected at the beginning of this installation we now need to configure a WSS v3 web site and site collection. This is done through the SharePoint v3 Central Administration which is automatically displayed upon the completion of the configuration wizard. For more detailed information about configuring a WSS v3 website and site collection see the Chapter 5 – SharePoint Central Administration. The following steps will take you through the basic steps to getting a WSS v3 site operational. Under Administrator Tasks select the option – Create SharePoint sites.
  • 16. Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 16 You will then be taken to a summary page detailing the steps, click on the link there to Create New Web Application. The following page will be displayed with some default entries already entered.
  • 17. Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 17 Unlike the installation on a standalone WSS v3 dedicated Windows Server 2003, Small Business Server 2003 already has a default production web site operating on port 80. To overcome this we must configure a ‘host header’ to allow different websites to function over the same TCP port. Ensure that you insert a suitable host header into this page in the Host Header field, this will be the text that network users will use to access the new WSS v3 site. In this case it will be http://sharepoint3. It is also recommended that you change the Description field to something more meaningful.
  • 18. Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 18 Scrolling further down you will see a number of options that are already selected, in most cases there is no need to change these so simply continue to scroll down the page.
  • 19. Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 19 You will need to enter the login details of the security account for a new application pool for the web site. You can also choose to use the standard Network Service if desired. For improved security it is recommended that you choose a suitable account. It is also recommended that you select the option to Restart IIS Automatically. After completing all the details on this page press the OK button to configure the web application.
  • 20. Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 20 You should now see the Operation in Progress page. This will take a few minutes to complete. Once complete you should see the above screen indicating that the application has been created. You now need to select the link Create Site Collection to create a WSS v3 site.
  • 21. Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 21 Once you have clicked the Create Site Collection link you will see the above page asking you to complete the new site details. Select a site name and description and scroll down the screen.
  • 22. Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 22 Now, select the template you wish to use when creating your WSS v3 site. More information about the options available here can be found in the Chapter 5 – Central Administration and Chapter 10 - Site Templates. You will also need to enter a valid user in the field Primary Site Collection Administrator. This user has administrative rights over the WSS v3 you are about to create. Note that this user does not have to be the domain or server administrator, it can be any valid user. You are also able to enter another user as the secondary site collection administrator as a backup. Press the OK button to create the site.

Chapter 4 – Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 onto Small Business Server 2003 © www.ciaops.com 29 December 2014 Page 92 Access Windows Small Business server Remote Web Workplace and login. When you select the option to view your company’s internal web site you should now see WSS v3. You will need to note that using WSS v3 as a Companyweb replacement will “break” the fax delivery to SharePoint. This normally could be solved by simply sending faxes to an email enabled list. Unfortunately, WSS v3 on Small Business Server does not support inbound emails due to the presence of Exchange server on the same server. Thus, inbound faxing to SharePoint will remain “broken” as you have replaced Companyweb with WSS v3. This is generally why installing WSS v3 on a member server in a Small Business Server domain is a better idea, because it will allow WSS v3 lists to accept inbound emails. 4.5 Conclusion Prior to any installation you need to decide on what type of installation you wish to perform, advanced, or default. Each of these options presents a number of different options that can be selected during the installation process and can affect the future growth of your installation. After installation you should also check that the search functionality has been enabled. More information about this can be found in Chapter 9 – Advanced Configuration and Chapter 11 – Search.
