Tigers Killed for their Body Parts
One of the main reasons for tigers being
endangered is that some people believe that
medicine made from tiger parts is very magical.

They are also killed for their fur for floor rugs or
clothing.

There are modern medicines that do the same, or
better, job than traditional medicines made from
tiger parts... it is not necessary to kill tigers for
medicine.
WHY TIGER’S SHOULD BE SAVED??
Not only is tiger a beautiful animal but it is also the
indicator of the forest's health. Saving the tiger
means we save the forest
Tigers occupy the pinnacle of the food chain and a
healthy tiger population is an indicator of the well
being of the whole forest.
Tigers are on the threshold of extinction. According
to WWF, Tigers are amongst the ten most
endangered species in the world.
Over the last century more than 95% of the Tiger
population has been wiped out & three sub-species
are already extinct.
Less than 3400 tigers remain in the
wild today with around 1141 in India
& their numbers are declining fast.
Government Initiatives
Project Tiger was incorporated in 1973 with nine
tiger reserves covering an area of 16,339 sq.km.

The Indian Wildlife Protection Act of 1972 enables
government agencies to take strict measures so as to
ensure the conservation of the Bengal tigers

Indian Board For Wildlife (IBWL) is responsible
for carrying out the activities pertaining to Wildlife
conservation with the State Governments .

ITWA- Indian Tiger Welfare Association works for
the protection of tiger.
The Ministry of Environment and Forests had
sanctioned Rs. 13 million for protection of tigers
In January 2008, the Government of India launched
a dedicated anti-poaching force composed of
experts from Indian police, forest officials and
various other environmental agencies.
The Ranthambore National Park is often cited as a

THREAT
The most significant immediate threat to the
existence of wild tiger populations is the illegal
trade in poached skins and body parts between
India, Nepal and China.
Other factors contributing to their loss are
urbanization and revenge killing. Farmers blame
tigers for killing cattle and shoot them. Their skins
and body parts may however become a part of the
illegal trade
Tiger banks??

  Tigers are now
        killed
   to make money
  by many inhuman
    businessmen's
When a man wants
to murder a tiger, he
 calls it sport; when
  the tiger wants to
murder him, he calls
    it ferocity. The
distinction between
crime and justice is
       no greater
What Needs to be Done to Save
         the Tiger?
Create worldwide awareness that Tigers are an
endangered species and work together to conserve.

Conserve resources and do not clear up land for
agriculture because it endangers the Tiger’s habitat.

Ban poaching.

Increase fire protection of forests.
