The numeracy SATs will take place on May 11th and 12th 2016. On the 11th, students will take the Paper 1 Arithmetic test consisting of 36 questions worth 40 marks testing addition, subtraction, fractions and long division. On the 12th, students will take Paper 2 and Paper 3 Reasoning tests each consisting of 35 marks. Students should revise times tables, fractions, decimals, percentages, money problems, shapes, measures and complete set homework over the Easter break to prepare.

Calculators are now not allowed for any paper.

3. Arithmetic
Paper 1: arithmetic replaces the mental mathematics test.
The arithmetic test assesses basic mathematical
calculations. The test consists of a single test paper.
Pupils will have 30 minutes to complete the test,
answering the questions in the test paper. The paper
consists of 36 questions which are worth a total of 40
marks.
The questions will cover straightforward addition and
subtraction and more complex calculations with fractions
worth 1 mark each, and long divisions and long
multiplications worth 2 marks each.

Times Tables to 10 x 10 – including related
division facts, square numbers, prime
numbers to at least 20
Fraction, decimal, percentage equivalences

5. Some areas of maths that children
often find difficult are
• Money problems (2 step)
• Problem solving – visualising problems
• Shape and space (Coordinates –drawing)
• Measures (Reading scales and converting
from one unit to another)

6. The Revision Books
The question book has practice questions
linked to each topic – as well as whole
practice papers.

7. Your Work
Your child will have set pages each week to
be completed instead of the usual written
homework

would like them to complete the homework
