6. Maths Challenges…
To improvespeed and accuracyof multiplication
facts, children will complete maths challenges
weekly.
When they scorefull marks on two occasions on a
challenge level, they progress onto the following
level.
7. Reading Comments…
• Yourchild will be listened to read byan adult at least oncea weekduring theirguided reading
session. It is still really important for you to listen to your child read at least twice a week if
possible.
• Children can change their books on a Wednesday and Friday and we request that you
completeand sign their Reading Record.
• Reading Records are a good opportunity to leave comments for the class teacher should you
have any concerns about your child’s progress in reading.
8. Home Reading…
Weencourage the children to read as much as possible and they canalso choosea book from
home to read orto access “Bug Club” for extra reading resources.

11. Handwriting – Letter join
• To encourage the children to use joined up, cursive writing, we are now using a
new handwriting scheme called Letter Join.
• Children will be able to access letter join in school on iPads as well as in
handwriting books.

13. Behaviour
At Wylde Greenwearetrying to improve children’s learning behaviour by changing the
vocabulary that we use with them and oursystems for monitoring behaviour.
Children are asked to make the right ‘choice’with their behaviour and understand that the
consequences are as follows:
Warning.
Move down the ladder ONCE.
Move down again. Oncethey have moved 3 times, they will beissued a Yellow Card and will
spend the next morning break.
Red cards areissued for serious offences such as fighting (including play fighting), damaging
property and serious disrespect.
14. Educational Visits
• During the year we will be visiting a number of places to enhance the children’s
learning and understanding.
• These include:
• A trip to the Selly Manor
• A trip to the theatre to watch Awful Auntie
• A trip to Coventry Transport Museum
We will also be performing the Christmas Carol Concert
at Emmanuel Church in December 2017 (date TBC).
We will be singing a variety of classic songs, with
speaking parts also available.
