2. THE COVER’S DENOTATION
AND CONNOTATION
The magazine cover denotes the image of a Caribbean female rapper (Nicki
Minaj) almost nude, posing sexually and looking at the camera seductively. The
cover consists of only four colours (pink, white, cream and black). However, it
connotes way more. To start off, her outfit and her look accompanied by her
pose connotes sexual attraction which tends to draw men towards the cover.
Keenly looking at the cover it will be noticed that her look combined with the
colour of her outfit and pose isnt only that of seduction but also
boldness, courage and power as the colour black is meant to represent
positively these three things. The masthead ‘THE WOMEN OF KING’
symbolises ‘women that are allowed to be their crazy self with a conscience
not to feel less than a man’.

3. MODE OF ADDRESS
From the cover, readers get a direct stare of confidence and
seduction from her.The men will first notice the sexuality of her look
whilst the ladies after looking will get the real meaning which is that
of confidence and asurrance.

4. IDEOLOGY OF THE MAGAZINE
The main ideology of the magazine cover is portraying Caribbean
women in a bold, sexy and confident way. Looking at that image I
see a woman as the cover says that blows the mind of people from
both gender, her confidence strikes the readers by every content of
the page. This is a message to Caribbean women that they can
dress like that and be proud of themselves and their body at all
times.

5. DEMOGRAPHICS AND
IDENTITY
The magazine attracts people from the Caribbean most because on it
is featured a successful Caribbean female rapper that has gone
international. It also draws people that support/like black female
rappers or people that like dressing like that. Nicki Minaj is known to
have alter egos (different identities) but her identity chosen is
BARBIE, the beautiful, sexy, calm, bold and powerful girl, this
encourages her readers to dress like that and be confident in
themselves.
