Project Description
• To create a systemic process for design review of online & hybrid courses. To
provide professional development for faculty.
• New initiatives: student preparedness for the online environment, training and
evaluation in our Dual Credit programs, and more online course offerings and
programs for fully online associate degrees.
Project Goals
• Create an online orientation for all students taking online and hybrid classes.
• Create a for-credit course that will train faculty for teaching in the online envi-
ronment.
• Begin a mentoring program for faculty who wish to teach online.
Action Plan
• Collect base-line data for retention and completion of students enrolled in
online, hybrid, blended, and dual credit courses
• Create form letter to go via “snail mail” to all students enrolled in online,
hybrid, blended, and dual credit courses
• Create the “UNM-Valenica Online Orientation Module”
• Create EDUC 293 course: pilot - Fall 2016, full implementation - Spring 2017
• Determine best way to train dual credit high school teachers
• Track completion of faculty who enroll in EDUC 293 courses during Fall 2016
Progress
• Refine policies and procedures for online instruction that we started working on
at the NMHEAA retreat in 2015
• Propose to implement policy that dual credit high school teachers take the
EDUC 293 course

To provide professional development for faculty. • New initiatives: student preparedness for the online environment, training and evaluation in our Dual Credit programs, and more online course offerings and programs for fully online associate degrees. Project Goals • Create an online orientation for all students taking online and hybrid classes. • Create a for-credit course that will train faculty for teaching in the online envi- ronment. • Begin a mentoring program for faculty who wish to teach online. Action Plan • Collect base-line data for retention and completion of students enrolled in online, hybrid, blended, and dual credit courses • Create form letter to go via “snail mail” to all students enrolled in online, hybrid, blended, and dual credit courses • Create the “UNM-Valenica Online Orientation Module” • Create EDUC 293 course: pilot - Fall 2016, full implementation - Spring 2017 • Determine best way to train dual credit high school teachers • Track completion of faculty who enroll in EDUC 293 courses during Fall 2016 Progress • Refine policies and procedures for online instruction that we started working on at the NMHEAA retreat in 2015 • Propose to implement policy that dual credit high school teachers take the EDUC 293 course
