STORAGE AVAILABILITY
RAID LEVEL 5
 This level of RAID provides data striping on each
device within storage array
 It comprises block level data striping with
distributed parity
 This configuration is used for OLTP applications.
RAID LEVEL 1
• This level of RAID provides data mirroring.
• This requires more storage capacity.
• RAID 1 is used for applications such as data
warehousing and some OLTP configurations
Some of the guidelines for both NAS and SAN
 NAS RTOS: Essentially everything that is active within
NAS device is available through the NAS operating
system.
 NAS Configuration: External sources of information can
be identified and accessed.
 Fabric Operating System Information: Available within
switch MIBs
 HBA Information: Available within the attached
node server
 Storage Information: MIBs or activity log files
 OS Information: Dependent on the OS. Common
Information Management Database
 Application Information: Dependent on the
application
DATA RECOVERY
• Double write strategy and staging process
• The backup program can move data directly from disk to
tape storage for archival and directly from tape to disk for
restore
