"Market Leadership and Innovation: MBA Summer Internship Experience at Samsung"Anshika Sharma Vashisht
This comprehensive report provides an in-depth account of my MBA summer internship experience within the dynamic marketing division of Samsung. Over the span of my internship, I was deeply involved in a series of strategic projects that offered me a panoramic view of the inner workings of one of the world's leading technology brands. My experience was marked by a blend of theoretical application and practical involvement, which significantly enriched my understanding of contemporary marketing practices.
### Market Analysis and Strategic Insights
My journey began with an extensive market analysis where I examined current market trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging opportunities and threats. This foundational work was crucial in shaping my understanding of the broader market context in which Samsung operates. I collaborated closely with the market research team to gather and analyze data, utilizing advanced analytical tools and methodologies. This enabled me to identify key market drivers and forecast future trends, which informed strategic decision-making processes within the marketing department.
### Consumer Behavior and Market Segmentation
Understanding consumer behavior was a pivotal aspect of my internship. I engaged in comprehensive studies to dissect consumer preferences, purchasing behaviors, and brand perceptions. Employing both qualitative methods (such as focus groups and in-depth interviews) and quantitative techniques (including surveys and statistical analysis), I was able to garner rich insights into the factors that influence consumer decisions. This deep dive into consumer psychology helped me appreciate the nuances of market segmentation and targeting, essential for crafting tailored marketing strategies.
### Campaign Development and Execution
A highlight of my internship was my active involvement in the development and execution of a major marketing campaign. This multifaceted project encompassed various stages from conceptualization and creative development to digital marketing and performance evaluation. I worked alongside seasoned marketing professionals, contributing to brainstorming sessions, content creation, and the formulation of digital marketing strategies. I also had the opportunity to manage social media campaigns, optimizing them for engagement and reach. This hands-on experience was invaluable in honing my skills in campaign management and digital marketing.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

4. Work done
In the very first day we went to the office of Samsung Electronics Pvt. Ltd. There we met with our
HR Mr. Junaid Sir. All document verification was done by him.
Then proper training for the project work was given to us from the company.
They focused on mainly three products-
1. TV
2. Washing Machine
3. Fridge
After the training about project we were allocated with the locations in different areas off Pune
city.
I was allocated in Croma Baner branch.
There I met with my senior from Samsung Company Mr. Shantanu Sir. He helped me a lot to
complete the project. He explained me about the consumer durable, product portfolio etc.
In the store I was handling the TV department.
In the beginning I used to greet the customer and hold them if my senior is busy with other
customer. In that time, I used to ask them questions e.g.
What size of TV they need? Smart TV or Non-Smart TV they want? Any preferable brand they
want? And likewise many more.
If my senior is free then I used to hand over the customer to him after greeting.
Apart from that I have also learned about the other TVs of other companies to find the weak point
thus I can promote my brand in front of the customers.
I worked for Eight days in a row from 11am to 9pm
After two days of starting of the project my senior give me the permission to sell the 32” and 43”
TV. So after that I hold the customers and gave description of the product, what is different in the
product, and used to convert the customers, as a result I was able to close six 32” TVs and two 43”
TVs.

5. Learnings
I have got a lot of experience from the live project. Among them few are given below:
1. The first thing I learned is, how to interact with people with different mindset.
2. I learned about the different updates in the products provided by Samsung.
3. How to face problems?
4. It gives us the opportunity to be familiar with the real professional market.
5. How can we motivate people to buy the product of the brand that we are promoting?
6. One of the most important thing I learned is how to sustain in a competitive market.
7. Thus project helped me a lot to improve my communication skills in both verbal and non-
verbal.
8. I have learned to take own decisions.
9. As I am new to Pune city, this live project helped me to discover many things. I explore
the city and also learned local languages little bit.
10. Coming to the theoretical applications, I can easily correlate consumer durable, consumer’s
need, want and demand, customer’s satisfaction, customer support and services, sales and
promotion of products and many more.
