Huck Finn And Jim Relationship
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is one of Twain s greatest works that
symbolically represents freedom meaning family and friendship in the eyes of Huck
Finn and his former slave friend, Jim. Both Jim and Huck are comparable in their
search for freedom. Jim is seeking to be free from slavery, while Huck Finn is
seeking for freedom from the mistreatment of his drunken father and from the touchy,
domineering authority of Widow Douglas and Miss Watson that once watched over
him. However, although the story specifically indicates freedom and the meaning of
true friendship, author Jane Smiley perceives the subject differently. It is clear that
Twain wants to direct his reader s mind towards the true meaning of friendship, but
the way it would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jim s original plan was to escape slavery to be with his wife and kids, while Huck
explores the land to escape his abusive father and the rules of Widow Douglas and
Miss Watson. Before either of them got to endure their dreams, they had to learn that
they must depend on each other. In disagreement with Jane Smiley, Huck was not
blinded by racism, but was perceptive of the true colors of friendship. Mark Twain s
ambition in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was to encourage the reader s to
value the true meaning of friendship in every
Wernher Von Braun Accomplishments
Wernher Von Braun was born in March 23, 1912 in Wirsitz, Prussia, Germany.
Today, he is known as the aerospace engineer behind many of NASA s rocket
designs, including, most notably, the Saturn V rockets that took astronauts to the
Moon. However, as a child, his interests varied and he had changing career
ambitions. Though he was always interested in astronomy and rocketry, he did not
perform well in his math and science classes. However, after acquiring an aerospace
engineering and astronomy book, he began to take his studies more seriously.
Initially, Von Braun designed military rockets for the Nazi s, the most infamous of
which was the V 2 rocket. While there is some uncertainty as to whether or not he
believed in Nazi ideology, he worked... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He and his colleagues got academics, civilian engineers, and military engineers up
to speed on how to design rockets and guidance systems. They also performed tests
on V 2 rockets that the US military captured during the war. Von Braun led the effort
in making making the Redstone rocket, which was utilized as a missile platform for
the US military s first ballistic nuclear missile. Later, he modified his initial Redstone
rocket design to make the Jupiter C rocket, which propelled the United States
Explorer 1 satellite to space. During this time, he created very detailed plans for
different space missions. Specifically, he designed a mission to put a space station
that generated artificial gravity into orbit that would serve a platform for astronauts
to then be sent to the Moon. He also had detailed plans on making a lunar base
where astronauts could use the base as another launch point to other places in the
solar system and to perform scientific experiments on the Moon s low gravity
environment. He even had plans to send astronauts to Mars using his space station as
a launchpad, which was something that no one at the time was talking about or even
considering. In fact, he was the first person to perform a detailed analysis of traveling
to Mars. Although he had designed these missions with great detail and accounting
for much of the logistics of these missions, the US military was not interested in them
since they did not believe it was necessary to focus on such things at that time.
However, when the Russians sent the Sputnik satellite into space, the United States
created NASA in 1958 in order to compete with the Russians with the aim of beating
them in the space race. When the Marshall Space Flight Center was opened, Wernher
Von Braunbecame the director of the facility. There he further worked on different
rocket designs which included the Saturn V rocket. The Saturn V

The Most Common Form Of Dementia
The second most common form of dementia is vascular dementia, which happens
when there is a blockage in the blood vessels that is in the vast system of the
arteries that feeds the brain. Vascular dementia is known to affect the thinking
process and older people are generally more prone to developing this disorder.
Vascular Dementia, also known as multi infarct dementia, occurs when cells in the
brain are deprived of oxygen. Mini strokes, also known as silent strokes, are the cause
of partial blockage of the bloodvessels. The people that suffer from strokes have a
30% chance of getting dementia within three months of their stroke (Kumral and
Özgören, 2017).
The vascular system oversees the blood vessels and provides the brain with oxygen.

Which older people are more prone to blockage of these arteries
Correspondingly, there are two pathways that transports blood to the brain called
internal carotid artery and vertebral artery. The internal carotid artery has three layers
call the tunica adventitia, tunica media, and tunica intima. Tunica intima is made up
of smooth muscle cells and elastin. The basilar artery forms and it branches out to
the posterior cerebral arteries. The posterior cerebral arteries form the internal
carotid arteries and when they connect they make cerebral arterial circle ( circle of
willis). The middle cerebral arteries branch out two separate arteries called the
anterior cerebral arteries. Each of these arteries are the force that direct the blood
flow to the brain. There are three tiny vascular systems that work together to
profuse the deep brain. Which are the pial, subependymal, and lenticulostriate
arteries. The small area of white matter that depends on blood flow is called the
subcortical shed water area. The subcortical is more prone than other areas of the
brain to have ischemia. The leading cause of ischemia is the fibrin builds up and
this cause a narrowing of the lumen. Which does not allow the flow of red blood
cells and deprives the white matter of tissue of oxygen. The tissue then losses density
and produces white matter lesions. The neurons become demyelinated which leads to
loss of cognitive ability.
Furthermore, the symptoms displayed by vascular dementia will
The Mortgage Subprime Mortgage Lenders
This is exactly what happened. Instead of lenders lending to responsible
homeowners with a high credit score alongside a down payment which would make
up prime mortgages, lenders leant to not so responsible homeowners with a low
credit score and no requirement of a down payment. This made up sub prime
mortgages. This was the turning point. Now subprime mortgagelenders had a
massive market to sell to, wall street. They were ready to pick up all the subprime
loans the mortgage lenders were selling and package them up with other loans (some
quality, some not), and sell them off to investors. In addition, 80% of these bundled
securities magically became investment grade ( A rated or higher), thanks to rating

Therefore, house prices were not going up any more, they were instead falling
substantially. This in turn also created a problem for prime home owners because as
the houses in their neighbourhood went up for sale, the value of their house went
down. Home owners began to wonder why they should be paying back their
$250,000 mortgage when their house is only worth $70,000. They decided that it
didn t make any sense to continue paying even though they could have afforded to
and so they walked away from their house and as they did, default rates swept
America and house prices plummeted even further. Additionally, by the middle of
2006 people were starting to take notice of the effects of the consecutive rises in
interest rates which are shown to the left. All of the easily underwritten mortgages
and refinances had already been done, and the first of the shaky ARMs, written 12 to
24 months earlier, were beginning to reset. (www.forbes.com/2007/09/10/subprime

This meant that the homeowners with ARMs were about to have sharp increases in
their mortgage payments and so those who couldn t afford it defaulted which was
thousands at the time due to the fact that A high percentage of these subprime
mortgages, over 90% in 2006 for example, were adjustable rate mortgages. (Mark

The Role Of Big Brother In 1984 George Orwell
Can Big Brother decide what is real and what isn t? Yes, they can. They torture people
until they are hallucinating and they see what Big Brother wants them to see. He
controls the past by restricting the constituents(the people) from keeping a record of
what they go through daily. Any form of the past is thrown into memory holes
located all around Oceana, thus enabling Big Brother to control the past, present, and
meir future. The Party is not allowed to keep record either and no one has any
privacy from the telescreen. Big Brother and his thought police know everything
everyone is doing. Anyone that has broken any laws in Oceana is tortured, re
brainwashed. Winston was hooked up to this machine that is designed to stretch the
backbones until they break(234). This man named O Brien was the person turning
the dial. He was interrogating Winston while torturing and brainwashing him to
believe the party, again. In section 3 chapter 2, the... Show more content on

For how could you establish even the most obvious fact when there existed no
record outside your own memory? He tried to remember in what year he had first
heard mention of Big Brother. He thought it must have been at some time in the
sixties, but it was impossible to be certain. In the Party histories, of course, Big
Brother figured as the leader and guardian of the Revolution since its very earliest
days. (1.3.22) In this quote it explains how Winston couldn t remember when Big
Brother took power because no one has a document of when it happened. Any
memory that anyone has, including everyone in the party, they must drop down the
memory holes. Winston, however, does not listen and gets a diary and writes
everything in it. Another reason Winston keeps a diary is because his job is to
write new pasts and the dairy helps him keep track of what the real past was. Big
Brother also has a telescreen which they use to watch everyone and brainwash
Analysis Of Night By Elie Wiesel
The Jewish ethnic population of the world was reduced by one third in the world s
most worst and known genocide, the Holocaust. Night by Elie Wiesel describes his
firsthand experience going through multiple concentration camps that systematically
murdered individuals of Jewish cultural heritage, and while groups such as queer
people, Romani ethnic groups, individuals with disabilities, black people, as well as
the Slavs, were persecuted, Night explains being apart of the Ashkenazi Jewish
ethnic group. Eliezer Wiesel discusses the theme of racial inequality in his memoir
Night, through his use of descriptive, vivid, yet simple statements that use
foreshadowing to trope different experiences. Wiesel is expressing to the readers of
his personalized traumatic experience, as well as urging it never happen to any
marginalized group, not in the future or present.
Wiesel starts in the beginning describing the life of a Jewish family and their cultural
heritage before the Holocaust. He uses imagery to show how the genocide would
begin with a limitation of Jewish people s rights. A Jew no longer had the right to
keep in his house gold, jewels, or any objects of value. (Wiesel 8) He discusses on
the fact how it would start slowly yet quickly with restrictions and what they can
/cannot do inside of their houses as well as rules on their personal property. They
were then forced to live in neighborhoods called ghettos together, and eventually
led to deportation. Wiesel writes how they were being given no information, There
are rumors to work in brick factories in Hungary. (Weisel 4) Where were the people
being taken to? Didn t anyone know yet? No, the secret was well kept. (Wiesel 14)
This ties up the personal experience of what was the start of the murder of millions
of Jewish people. He includes that the Jewish community were holding onto hope,
Who knows? Perhaps we are being deported for our own good. (Wiesel 16), but
instead was met with concentration camp, being prisoners, where they were split
from their families forever. The author uses different dialogue as a plot device to
display how the families have operated before the fallout of the Holocaust.
Eliezer Wiesel uses a great deal of metaphors to

The excess of carbon in the atmosphere is the cause of global climate change. To
reverse global warming we must balance the carbon cycle by removing carbon from
the atmosphere and returning it to the plants and to the soil (4). Though in the end,
carbon exists in everything and the carbon cycle is much more complex because it
includes every plant, animal, microbe, fallen tree, body of water, bit of soil, breath
of air, plume of smoke, combustion of fossil fuel, decaying particle, and bubble
popping to the surface of a swamp (5). Industrial farming has disrupted this cycle. If
we completely halted the burning of fossil fuels today, which we can not by any
means, climate change would still continue through modern agriculture. The key to
reversing global warming is not solely through solar panels and ethanol fuel, but in
proper symbiotic farming
Black Panther Party Research Paper
The Black Panther Party (BPP) was a group created in 1966. The group s purpose
was to teach African Americans to protect themselves from police brutality and
sought to bring about social change. The group worked for change by employing
violent tactics like marching on streets while toting guns ( Black Panther Party:
Platform ). However, the violence condoned by the BPP was not supported by the
government and authorities. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had a
program called the Counter Intelligence Program (also known by its portmanteau
COINTELPRO) that worked to neutralize the Black Panther Party. The definition of

COINTELPRO was a secret program of the FBI that targeted groups, usually civil
rights groups, that the FBI felt were in dangerous activities (Gilman). They did this
in secret because Hoover felt that past court decisions made it impossible to
control them by nonsecret, legal means and he firmly felt the groups needed to be
stopped(Gilman). COINTELPRO was created in 1956 to target the Communist
Party of the United States. When the United States entered the Vietnam War, many
anti war groups were established and caught the attention of the FBI. It was the
FBI s job to protect the US from these groups, and they did this by using
COINTELPRO methods (Lerner). Hoover also used COINTELPRO to target
groups that participated in dangerous political activities, mainly civil rights groups.
Hoover started to think of the Black Panther Party as a threat around 1967 because
they were thought to be political radicals ( Hoover ). It was at this time that Hoover
started using COINTELPRO to disrupt the Black Panther
Tornado Recovery Summary
This summary will cover the lessons learned and any suggestions necessary
concerning the following disaster. On May 22, 2011 a tornado spawned east of the
Missouri Kansas state line from a massive supercell thunderstorm that quickly
escalated into an EF 5 monster. This monster tornado tore a half mile to three
quarter mile wide path of total destruction through Joplin, Missouri claiming 161
lives (Smith Sutter, 2013). The response by the local and state government was
immediate bringing in a combination of public and private sector efforts. Joplin is
one of the few disasters that displayed how recovery efforts should be executed.
Public sectors after the disaster focused mainly on clearing debris and bringing the

One key factor that helped in the timely recovery of Joplin was the massive volunteer
sector efforts. There were more than 92,000 registered volunteers that came from the
United States and as far away as Japan to help restore the community (Smith Sutter,
2013). To house all of these volunteers FEMA provided temporary housing units for
the volunteers and displaced victims. Immediately after the tornado, the American
Red Cross set up shelters for the displaced victims and within two weeks of the
disaster they also had a long term recovery committee functioning. Along with the
tremendous response from public, private, and volunteer sectors the social media
network contributed a huge role in coordinating relief. Most notably the local
churches of St. Paul and College Heights utilized Facebook to contact churches
outside of Joplin bringing in faith based organizations from all over the United States
(Smith Sutter, 2013). The most fascinating aspect of Joplin s recovery was the
autonomous nature that the private and public sectors were able to perform under.

Food Intake 3 Days According to the World Health Organization, Nutrition is the

According to the recommendations, I came in below the suggested amount for all
three categories. Carbohydrates are the body s primary source of energy. Without
adequate carbohydrates, a person may feel fatigued and weak, as the body looks
elsewhere for sources of energy. A severe lack of carbohydrates can deprive critical
bodily organs the necessary energy to properly function. Lipids are naturally
occurring organic compounds that include fats and oils. An excess of some lipids
can increase the chances of certain health problems, lipids are vital nutrients to a
healthy body. Lipids are necessary for the absorption of fat soluble vitamins. A
diet too low on lipids lowers the level of good cholesterol, decreases the body s
energy level and can disturb the body s formation of cells and cell functions.
During the three days of documented intake, my fiber consumption was only 24.3%
of the daily recommendation. Fiber helps promote proper digestive functions,
helps lower cholesterol, and helps in lowering the risk of diabetes and heart
disease. My intake was too low based on the recommended consumption, and
according to the data, I should eat more foods that are rich in fiber. These can be
insoluble fiber sources like wheat bran and nuts or soluble fiber sources like oats,
beans, and apples. The only foods that provided fiber in my meals were the bagels.

they seek for direction from other members.
Counter dependency statements. They seek independence by rebelling from the
direction of the group and leadership. Fight statements. These challenge other people

These groups rely on technology to communicate with one another and to accomplish
the tasks allocated by the organization. One benefit of a virtual team is that they use
technology and this can help increase efficiency and productivity of the members.
The virtual teams also assist in the development of intellectual capital. The
composition of the virtual groups helps improve quality as well as the outcome. The
other benefit is the efficiency of communication. Some of the challenges include the
distance between the members. The significant distance may dilute leadership,
weaken human relations as well as amplify dysfunction. Virtual teams are hard to
manage especially when it comes to goal setting, task distribution, coordination and
member motivation. Virtual organizations rely on trust that the other members will
fulfill their roles since it is not possible to monitor them closely (Hoppe, 2011). The
virtual teams may face some internet challenges such as slow internet or
disconnection. This problem can be handled through the use of alternative methods of
communication such as mobile phones. While making a virtual team, the team
members should address all challenges which may hinder communication by coming
up with all possible substitutes of means of communication. These organizations rely
heavily on the internet for video conferencing and sending emails. However, when the
internet fails, they

The many aspects of the outside of this church alone reveal that it is a Jesuit
Church. The use of baroque architecture is a major factor in distinguishing
buildings of this time from one another. The Gesu is the first major building
featuring Baroque, which is significant to the Counter Reformation, and it is also
the template for Jesuit churches around the world. Baroque architecture followed
renaissance art from the Middle Ages. The many aspects of this style make it feel
as if it is going against the norm. Architects aspire to make baroque buildings look
as if they are sculpted and contoured, rather than mathematically planned. Using
techniques to make walls look curved together as one single entity is a way
baroque artists integrated movement into architecture. Unique ground plans of
oval or ellipse shape are a distinguished aspect of baroque, in contrast to the circles,
squares, and Greek crosses used in the renaissance. Architecturally, the Gesu is a
marvel. It is the second largest in size, following St. Peters Basilica, and also has
one of the largest domes in Rome. The baroque aspect of the dome is its inability to
be seen from the front of the church, it is only viewable from the sides. In addition,
the pillars on the exterior are in even pairs of two lining the front wall, however they
are carved out of the stone, not standing independently. Despite this, the pillars still

of pocket expenses, health statistics, the organization of healthcare, the distribution of
responsibility between the federal and local governments and the income tax
structure. By analyzing these elements, the strengths can be appreciated and new
ideas can be formed to fix the current flaws present in the system. No healthcare

Therefore, the government plays a significant role in the socialized healthcare
system. The system s responsibilities are divided between federal, cantonal and
municipal government levels. The 26 cantons and 6 half cantons, which are like
states, are responsible for the healthcare present in each canton. It licenses
providers, arranges and manages hospital services and subsidized institutions and
individual premiums. The federal government regulates the overall payments and
finances, ensures the safety and quality of medical equipment and pharmaceutical
drugs, supervise public health initiatives and supports medical research and
training. The municipalities are responsible for nursing homes and social support
for susceptible groups (Commonwealth Fund). Although the entire population,
which was 8.42 million as of January 1st 2017, is covered, all citizens have to pay
some out of pocket expenses for healthcare treatments and provisions. Patients
have to pay 10% of the total medical bill. According to World Bank, 26.8% was the
out of pocket health expenditure (% of total expenditure on health) as of 2014
(World Bank). No free treatment exists and the fees are very high. All patients
who are citizens must an excess fee that exists between 184 EUR (219.47 USD) to

percent of the overall medical cost. Only pregnant women are excused from this fee.

A Common Explanation Of The Crisis Of Labor Movements
A common explanation of the crisis of labor movements is that the hypermobility
of productive capital in the late twentieth century has created a single labor market
in which all the world s workers are forced to compete. (Silver, 2003, p3) This
statement suggested that the single labor market causes the employers to hire the
enormous amount of unorganised workers due to the production line demand more
workers. For instance, the new president of Unite State (U.S.), Donald Trump,
claims Reducing taxes from 35% to 15% will be a job creator (Donald Trump,
2016). By doing this, it has the huge positive effect on companies, small and big
businesses. Since the reduction in taxes drops 20%, the companies can use that 20 %
to move production line back to the country and hire the same amount of workers or
even more.
Silver structured the book into five sections introduction, labor movements and
capital mobility, labor movements and product cycles, labor movements and world
politics and contemporary dynamics in worldhistorical perspective. The first section
the writer briefly explain what cause the labor movement and what impact has it
bring into the industries. Next section, she analysed the unstable of world scale
dynamics of labour. Till this second section, the readers have understood a bit more
about labor movements, focused on the leading capitalist industry of the twentieth
century. The third part she used The Automobile

Shannon Miller Research Paper
There are many talented gymnasts around the world, but Shannon White was a
real special one. The factors and contributions that made Shannon Miller well
known was her becoming an Olympic gold medalist at the age of 15. When she
was 18 (in the year 1995) she was diagnosed with brain cancer, but fought it and
survived. She is an inspiration to men, women, and children for being one of the
best gymnasts in the world, for beating cancer, and for never giving up. Shannon
Miller was a total trooper. She was super small as a toddler and that made her

Examples Of Maturity In To Kill A Mockingbird
Every person experiences a diverse moment in their life in which their maturity
reaches its peak, but it happens at distinct times for different people. The novel To
Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is about the life of the a young girl, Scout Finch.
As the story goes along, Scout becomes more and more mature from the beginning to
the end. She witnesses and sees things that force her mind to develop and adjust to
everything, which continues to increase her maturity. The theme of maturity in To
Kill a Mockingbirdis shown through Scout throughout the whole story. She shows
how mature she is when she s a young kid and experiences meeting Dill, going to
school and having Walter over for dinner, when she encounters and meets Boo

She questions him about topics like his father and then wonders and asks him
what is wrong with him. As a young child she doesn t understand that not everyone
is the same and some people have faults in their lives, but she then grows and
accepts him for who he is. She matures enough to see past his flaws and becomes
great friends with him throughout the story. Another incident at the beginning of
To Kill a Mockingbird is when she has Walter over for dinner and she criticizes him
and does not comprehend how he is unique and that he lives in poverty, but she is
too young to understand and speaks her mind. Calpurnia then takes Scout into the
kitchen and teaches her about manners and to be mature especially around guests.
She then understands and goes back to dinner, but no longer worried about the
things Walter is doing that she does not enjoy. Scout later says in the story, В‘No,
everybody s gotta learn, nobody s born knowin . That Walter s as smart as he can
be, he just gets held back sometimes because he has to stay out and help his daddy.
Nothin s wrong with him. Naw, Jem, I think there s just one kind of folks. Folks.

Gun Control Laws Should Not The Safety Of The Citizens
America is the number one country for number of gun related deaths ratio each year.
In Germany 381, in France 255, in Canada 165 in the United Kingdom 68, in
Australia 65, in Japan 39 and in the United States, 11,127 (Moore Michael, 51:15
51:48). Due to the United States having the greatest number of gunrelated deaths, it is
almost essential to implement gun control laws that restrict people from purchasing
and owning dangerous firearms. The laws that are created to control the guns should
ultimately keep the safety of the citizens first. Of course, there is no easy way or
solution to please both sides of the argument, but there should be a balance between
both sides.
In 2008 a survey was conducted stating: Adult poll respondents ... Show more

In the 1900s America like other counties during that time considered guns a tool used
to survive and protect. As Americans civilized the wilderness, they would eventually
be able to rely not just on their own skills at individual self defense for protection, but
on laws and civil authorities and the other institutions of government they were
building ( Whitney, Pg. 103). In the early 1900s The United Statesdid not have the
modern civil authorities that are used today. Citizens relied on firearms to protect
not only themselves but their family, and property because law enforcement was
basic and simple. What was deemed acceptable then is not now in America and that
is why the Second Amendment was ideal in the 1900s. Firearms of military grade
that have the ability to shoot 700 950 rounds/min, like the M16, did not exist.
Firearms during that time did not come close the capability of modern weapons that
are available today and that is one of the reasons why gun control was not a pressing
issue. The need for Gun control became necessary throughout history as technology
advanced and different types of firearms emerged that were more powerful and
deadly. Also the issues of people becoming more interested in guns not only for civic
duty but for entertainment/ recreational use lead to
Analysis Of Edith Wharton s House Of Mirth
From Gender Roles to Gender Goals
Edith Wharton s novel, House of Mirth, written in 1905 centers around Lily Bart, a
single woman in her late twenties, who is constantly struggling to maintain her status
in high society. Lily navigates herself through the upper class with a double
consciousness . This double consciousness enables her to recognize ...that [she] is at
the same time inside and outside the ideology of gender; and conscious of being so,
conscious of that twofold pull, of that division, that doubled vision (Carson 695).
Throughout the text she is constantly trying to balance a life of being a financially
independent woman or the New Woman Wharton and her contemporaries added to
the female archetypes, but then having to abide in the gender roles that society had
established. The limits of her sex contribute to her inevitable failure by the end of
the novel but the knowledge of them aided her deconstructing her role as a woman.
This double consciousness is an advantage since she is able to manipulate the upper
class, but the facade she tries to maintain in order to achieve her goal financial
stability contributes to her falling victim to the society she tried to configure to her
own desires. In this paper, I will argue how the double consciousness of Lily Bart
deconstructed the tradition woman to assert the New Woman .

It makes her look like the real Lily the Lily I know (Wharton 166). This seems to be a

Utopian Societies Impact
Utopian communities have had an incredible impact on both American society and
various recognized religious sects throughout the United States as a whole. Many
people saw, and still see, democratic government as unfair, leaving the poor behind to
become poorer while the rich continued to get richer; they felt a change in work and
fairness was officially in order. Utopian societies were created with commendable
intentions, and their idea of the perfect cooperative society is an attractive
conference, but they were all considered experiments because they all declined
swiftly and hopelessly. The western concept of utopias stem in the age old world,
where fables of a carnal arcadia lost to history, linked to the human ambition to build
an ideal community, abetted in forming the utopian notion ( Utopias in America ).
Ideal communities have varied considerably in philosophy and design, and maybe not
all have been persistently utopian in the draconian understanding of hoping to
achieve a system for a perfect community. Utopian communitarianism seems to have
deeper roots set in the United States than in Western Europe, more specifically in
actually putting philosophy into practice. This composite mental image may appear
misplaced in a nation with an intense admiration towards individuality, but the
perseverance amongst these societies brings to light quite a bit about the incredibly
diverse American culture, notably how the sexes have thought of cultural
advancement and how

of all, a lifelong friend of Raleigh s. He was an astronomer, mathematician, and a
master of navigation. He even founded the school of algebra and constructed
telescopes (States). He and White went together and were in charge with drawing
and mapping the people and land they encountered. They also learned about the
Algonquian language and culture from the wanchese and Manteo. As you may

The War Of The Revolutionary War
The most fascinating subject to learn about in History is spies. With the ideas of
secret ink and leaving important documents at Dead Drops would be someone s
dream to live. That does not mean that every story of a spy ended up that way.
Several spies during the Revolutionary war were hanged if caught. Though, one major
traitor in the United Statesdid not get hanged. He escaped to England. The life of
spies is quite different then what people imagine. Even the founding fathers of the
United States of America played such a drastic role in spying. Like John Jay
considered the Father of Counter Intelligence . George Washington is known for
creating the most successful operatives. Overall, the interesting parts in regard to spy
is that of Sir Walsingham, the founding fathers, and that of Benedict Arnold, a traitor.
Sir Walsingham began the major influence of spying for the later generations in
England and Revolutionary America. He spied for Queen Elizabeth during her reign.
His major attributes were to find out who tried to threaten Elizabeth s life. Many
assassination attempts are set in action when she is queen. Under Willingham many
spy network in foreign countries will be established. Not only this, but many people
will have worked underneath him. Walsingham is a man that made sure Queen
Elizabeth s life is safe. Through his massive spying in the Babington Plot,
Walsingham uncovered a message a attempt to threaten Elizabeths life. The letter will

Examples Of Stereotypes In Mean Girls
Mean Girls is a must see teenage movie. If you haven t seen it, you aren t fetch
(a.k.a. cool). I remember when I first saw the movie around age eight, and I
believed girls and boys were exactly how they were portrayed in the movie. I was
sitting around with my best friends in our sleeping bags giggling just like every
other young girl would at a movie like this one. Though the acting is exaggerated,
it is effective in portraying the stereotypes of cliques among high schools through
its characters, actresses/actors, special effects, and costumes. It s one of those
movies where it s so bad it s good. The acting is meant to be terrible. For example, a
dumb blonde known as Karen says, If you re from Africa, why are you white? .
This was a perfect role play of the stereotypical white, blonde chick. The actress,
Amanda Seyfried, completely captures the role with a dumbfounded expression.
However, blondes aren t always dumb. I know one girl who is absolutely genius
and could say the formula for every crazy scientific thing out there. If we look
beyond this, though, and think way back to elementary/middle school, most of us can
agree we had the same stereotype of a dumb high schoolblonde. As for Lindsay...

Experimentation And Other Research Designs
The most basic difference between experimentation and other research designs is that
experimentation seeks to determine what might happen if certain variables in a
given situation are changed. According to Cooper and Schindler (2014),
experimentation requires that a researcher accept the world as it is found (p. 192). In
other words, a researcher conducting experimentation is not seeking to determine a
causal link between events and outcomes; rather, the experimenter seeks to determine
what may happen if some variable in the chain of events is altered. Unlike ex post
facto research, which asks questions after an event occurs to determine what is or
what has been (Cooper Schindler, 2014, p. 192), experimental research manipulates...

While the correlation between a cause and its effects may seem apparent, often too
many different factors must be considered. Through experimentation, more
accurate correlations may be made to determine a cause. This aspect of
experimental research makes it somewhat superior to other forms of research
(Rutter, 2007). Another advantageous characteristic of experimental research is the
possibility of replication. In most research applications, too many variables may
pollute a given situation and increase the difficulty with which to adequately make
initial observations. Experimental research is more easily contained to the
desired set of variables, and as such experiments can be replicated to further test
hypotheses. Reproducing an experiment is much easier than conducting additional
research by other means (Fagaras, Kovacs, Oros, Rafaila, Topa Harrant, 2013).
The use of experimentation is not necessarily a biblical concept. However, the
Bible provides guidance in all areas of life. As such, truths spoken for certain
purposes can be applied to other areas in many cases. For instance, in 1 John 4:1
(English Standard Version), we are instructed to not believe every spirit, but test the
spirits to see whether they are from God. While this relates more to our Christian
lives, we can apply this idea to experimental research. In using experiments, we are
testing different variables to determine whether or not they are related to a
Perspective On Reality In James Joyce s Araby
A person who feels they need to accomplish something needs to have the tenacity to
complete it. They would feel satisfied once they do, and discontented otherwise. For
an external source to destroy significant progress, anger will be conveyed. In some
cases, it can change a person s perspective on reality. As they continue to age, their
outlook would mature to accept reality as it is. James Joyces short story, Araby,
centers on an unnamed boy who is on a romantic quest for his crush; a journey to
the bazaar, aptly named Araby, in order to get her a souvenir. Initially, a normal
endeavor for his crush; however soon becomes ill fated. Joyce also implements
another narrative element to the story; the same boy now older reminiscing those
events unfazed and dispirited. The narrative of the older counterpart initially is
subtle; but later throughout the story, it is effective about commenting his past.
Reinforcing this is his imaginative obsession with his crush that he soon becomes
oblivious to obstacles in his life that would complete his dream of love. To make his
quest more difficult, he is delayed by his uncle who does not have the same passion
of the bazaar s importance unlike the boy. By implementing imagery, two point of
views, and conflict, Araby reveals the boy s ignorance to the harsh reality he resides
in while using his future self to reflect his mundane past. In his short story, imagery is
commonly used to reflect what the boy is thinking about at a given
The Concept Of Excessive Cost Of Borrowing Money
The concept of excessive cost of borrowing money dates back to the earliest accord
of Barter . It was a common practice amongst the ancient civilizations to charge a
crude amount of excessive cost in their everyday borrowings. According to Andrew
Beattie, in his work on the history of money; from barter to cash notes to now
bitcoins , ancient civilizations predating to around 500BC and pre Biblical times
religion and cultures have from time to time defined the concept of the Interest,

the realm of the Mekkah city. Thus Mekkah city was a hub of trading and transactions

Thus the city and the traders also had a crude system of trading laws which allowed
for loans and the cost of borrowing of such loans. Although not documented or stated
in any written instrument, the earliest documented statement about riba in pre
Islamic time also widely known as the period of Jahiliyyah or the dark age or the age
of ignorance, as stated by Imam Malik:
Riba in the Jahiliyyah was that a man would have a debt on a man for a set term.
When the term was due, he would say, Will you pay it off or increase me? If the
man paid, he took it. If not, he increased him in his debt and lengthened the term for
him.
Thus it indicated the concept of Riba was though present, however there was no
preset percentage neither any fixed charge. The charge dependent heavily upon the
ability of the debtor (the one who owes money to the lender) and it can be increased
at the discretion of the lender.
Another instance is to be found in the words Ibn Jarir;
The riba of Jahiliyyah was a transaction whereby a person would sell something for a
payment to be made at a specified

John William Waterhousewas born in Italy, 1849 within the city of Rome. According
to history on April sixth, Waterhouse was baptized. Though we know many aspects
of John William Waterhouse, we don t know his actual birthday. Waterhouse s
parents were also artists, from which they came from England. His parents helped
John William Waterhouse become the amazing artist he was. During the time of
Waterhouse s birth the Industrial Revolution was happening. This led many other
artists to act out against other artists who painted a more realistic style. They did this
by painting in a new, different way by painting pure lines. This style came out during
the classical period. Waterhouse has a style that was unlike any other painter, which
made him completely unique (Artable, com, 2016). John William Waterhouse style of

Essay On Harriet Tubman
Rather than remaining free in the safety of the North, Tubman decided that her
freedom had no meaning knowing that her family and her people were still
enslaved. She made it her mission to rescue the rest of her family from slavery
starting with her niece Kizzy, who was going to be sold to the South along with
her two small children. Her husband, a free man named John Bowley, contacted
Harriet, warning her of this troubling news and requested her help in rescuing his
wife and children. Harriet organized for her return to Maryland and was able to
help Bowley buy his wife s freedom. They were then brought to their refuge and
new home, Philadelphia. She then went back for her elderly parents and other
family members on the Eastern Shore and brought them to Canada, which had
abolished slavery for several years and was slowly becoming the home for several
hundreds of fugitive slaves. This was the first of many trips made by Harriet Tubman,
creating her reputation as the Moses of her people, leading them to the promised
land. During the span of her 10 year career on the Underground Railroad, she made
19 trips to the South and, never ran my train off the track and I never lost a

years, Tubman was also able to develop relationships with many other important
abolitionist members of the Underground Railroad such

What exactly is a pony, by definition? How does it differ from what we call a horse?
Well, a pony is, in fact, a horse. Ponies are a sub classification of light horses, which
are those used for riding. The main difference between a pony and a horse is that a
pony is under 14.2 hands. To this end, just about any horse who meets the height
requirement can be shown in pony classes. However, there are certain breeds where
all the individuals registered must meet pony requirements. These are called pony
breeds.
Like other horse breeds, pony breeds vary in size, color, and gait.

Appaloosa heritage, they come in a wide variety of coat patterns. POAs work well for
both riding and driving.
Connemara
The Connemara is an Irish pony that has Arabian horses in its ancestry.
Connemaras are known for being one of the taller pony breeds, as many of them
stand in the 14.2 hand range. Connemaras are often gray or black, although registry
rules also allow them to be brown, bay, or dun. Connemaras have very smooth gaits,
are willing learners, and are often very athletic. They excel in a wide variety of

Walt Disney Company
Walt Disney is a well known name in today s society. Walt Disney once stated, You
can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world but it
requires people to make the dream a reality (Sparks, 2007). Marty Sklar, Vice
Chairman and principal creative executive for Walt Disney Imagineering was quoted
as saying, From the beginning, starting with Walt Disney, we have had five tings that
make me proud to be a part of this company: high quality, products, optimism for the
future, great storytelling, an emphasis on family entertainment and great talent,
passion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One way Disney utilizes the communication from its employees is by using a 120
questions survey about management performance. These surveys convey if the is
effective communication between management and employees. After the surveys are
completed, staff meetings are held to discuss staff concerns and resolutions are
discussed. These meetings are usually held within three weeks to show employees
that Disney is concerned about the welfare of their employees and to help satisfy
them. Walt Disney Company believes that every cast member and staff have valuable
information that can be shared through ongoing communication efforts. As we can
see, communication is as important as the company s values are (Sparks, 2007). As
with any company, strong beliefs, values and communication are needed in order for
a company to succeed. Founded in 1923, the Walt Disney Company has maintained
these strong beliefs, values and communication needed to ensure its success today.
The success in employee training with the Disney Institute has led to other companies
seeking their help (Sparks, 2007). This just strengthens the fact that Walt Disney
Company has never wavered from its mission to be one of the world s leading
producers and providers of entertainment.

The Nile River In Ancient Egyptian Civilization
In ancient Egyptian civilization the Nile River was the single most important thing to
the Egyptians. If the Egyptians did not have the Nile River they would have never
survived. The Egyptians thrived because of the Nile it provided them with trade,
protection, farming, irrigation and transportation.
The Nile River was a huge help to the Egyptian civilization with trade. Without it
they would not have been able to trade nearly as much. They are surrounded by
deserts so there are certain things that they needed that they could not make. They
would usually trade some of the crops that they harvested for things they needed.
Some of the things that they would trade the most would be papyrus and minerals.
These minerals would include gold and copper. Some things they would receive from
their trades would be wood, incense, metal, slaves and animals. Since Egypt is located
in the desert there is not very many trees. Wood was needed to build houses and
furniture. Ships were also built out of wood. Egypt did not have much metal but it
did have lots of gold and other minerals to trade for metal. Egypt ... Show more

Every year the Nile would flood and the places where it did flood was fertile. The
Egyptians then figured out what time the Nile would flood every year. They then
developed their farming system to go around the flood of the Nile. They had
several different seasons in which they would either plant crops or harvest them.
Eventually the Egyptians figured out how to use the Nile for irrigation so they
wouldn t have to wait for the Nile to flood. It was a good thing the Egyptians
figured out how to farm because they would then trade what they farmed for things
they needed more. Most of Egypt s wealth could be turned back to farming and
crops. The pharaoh would own all of the land so with the crops that people planted
they would get a small percentage then he would take the rest of the

To solve this problem we explain some of the background information, the current
situation and gives a future perspective for ChГўteau Margaux. We introduced a third
bottle of wine, under the brand name of ChГўteau Margaux, and this bottle will be
called: Gosse du Margaux. 2.Executive summary
ChГўteau Margaux is currently in the market of the winery. As of 2013, the global
wine market was valued at generating between $60 65 billion in annual revenues.
The amount of bottles being produced was estimated to be over 30 billion. The
production of wine has seen a shift from being produced in the Old world to an
increasing production of wine in the New world . This shift created an increasingly
upsweep in the global production of wine which resulted in a huge supply of wine
to the market. This development forced many wine producers to lower their prices in
order to be able to compete in the wine market.
ChГўteau Margaux will be expanding its market with a third wine titled Gosse du
Margaux .
ChГўteau Margaux offers three types of wine, the first wine being the best and the
third being the least good. The third wine is however, of such high quality that it is
considered good enough to sell. The United States of America has a population of
over 300 million people and because the wine
Persuasive Techniques Used In Horror Movies
Horror, one of the most played genre in shows and movies. It can be shown
anytime during the year. It doesn t need a special time to really release unless it
comes with a theme. It can be simply remake from a classic or show another
perspective from a story or person. It gives people the sense of thrill and suspense.
Many people fail to realize it takes a lot of to make a good horror despite its age
range. It does take an understanding of the basics like setting, tone and climax. In my
personal opinion, R.L. Stine is someone who is able to have an understanding of the
basics and create it into something beautiful. Robert Lawrence Stine or better known
as R.L. Stine is mainly known as the writer behind the Goosebumpsseries and The
Haunting Hour series. He was wildly famous in the 90 s going to the 00 s for
creating a kid friendly horror genre people might say.
It was not overly gore like how some of these shows are today. But it had enough
suspense to keep your eyes peeled. Horror in the early 90 s was mostly about the
story telling than the graphics. Anyone could show someone being murdered or
tortured but it was more effective explaining in a way ... Show more content on

It was published in July 1989 and received great reviews. It somewhat gave a vibe
to the movie When a Stranger Calls despite being almost 20 years before it was
made. Its dark and haunting sense made way into Stine being one of the great
horror writers in his time. It went on to having three sequels following the plot
while keeping the sense of horror. It kept itself from being too far fetched as how
other books may be that you wouldn t think twice. It gave you something common
in its time and somewhat happening now. The series is based on a young girl named
Jenny Jeffers who took on a babysitting job that not truly as easy as it seems. After

At this point as a Greek, I have to mention that the word deontology is an ancient
Greek word (ОґОµОїОЅП„ОїО»ОїОіОЇО±) , and means the nature of duty and
obligation, it focuses in professional ethical codes that are present to this day within
the accounting profession and business. Accounting is connected with decisions that
are both complicated an ethical in nature, and hence, it leads to too many ethical
dilemmas, therefore, it s important that there are rules that guide these ethical matters.
The American Institute for Public Accountants has outlined an ethical code of
conduct that Certified Public Accountants must follow. Accounting produces results
and information which is important for certain people and will be used for
evaluating, estimating and other reasons. Therefore, if the use of the information
given by the accounting department is accurate and truthful, no ethical problems
arise. Unfortunately, this is not always the case, such as with Sunbeam
Western Imperialism and Modern East Asia Essay example
Western imperialism in East Asia caused many tribulations for China, Japan, and
Korea but also helped them to become contemporary nations. The East Asian
countries were tremendously affected by unequal treaties, extraterritoriality, and
above all, technology. Great Britain encroached upon China their greed for open trade
with the Chinese empire resulting in the deterioration of the Chinese culture, which
led to the emergence of a modernized civilization. Japan was co subjugated by Russia
and the United States so that the trade routes of these western countries could extend
into the east, which resulted in the foundation of industrialization in Modern East Asia

The East India Company made other British agents unhappy, as they too wanted
trading monopolies with China in areas such as industrialized textiles. By 1834,
Great Britain directed Lord Napier to bypass the commerce authority in China, the
Cohong, and negotiate matters of trade with China s governor general who declined
any business agreements for the reason that the Chinese saw no reason to sully their
dignity by dealing with barbarians . (pp. 298) Hence, in 1839, when Imperial
Commissioner Lin Zexu arrived in the Chinese trading port of Guangzhou to
suppress the opium transfer, war broke out between Great Britain and China.
Commissioner Zexu was successful in eradicating the opium from the port, yet the
Opium War was a defeat for the Chinese and their morality. Queen Victoria of Great
Britain quickly retaliated on China and gained British compensation to their exported
commodities and an agreement from China for the repayment to British peddlers for
their destroyed property. Chinese officials were also forced to not only expand
Western trade giving British merchants direct access to the Qing court

Romania offers one of the most exquisite sites in the world. Nestled between the

features that make Sinaia valuable. Often times ignored or simply overlooked,
Sinaia encompasses a tremendous amount of history as well as Romanian culture.
However, this area is not merely defined by its physical attributes, but also by the
inhabitants unique lifestyle and traditions. The serpentine road leading to Sinaia

backcountry. At first, you are met with a picturesque sight of the flatlands, speckled
with tiny villages barely made out in the distance. A man, hunched over and
wearing a sheepskin on his shoulders for warmth, herds a flock of thousands of
woolly sheep to safety. In the next instant, there is nothing but dense vegetation

Songs From The North Poem Analysis
The narrator finds comfort and peace in silence and stillness of nature, similarly as
in Songs from the North . In both examples the narrator seems to already be here
insinuating that the longing is in fact not tied to any specific place but time. The
narrator has reached the tranquility of mind where the pain is no longer, but in his
hopefulness he is realistic that the relief is only temporary. The narrator seems to
be longing the present moment even before it is gone, thus making him pre
nostalgic that is evoked by the transience nature of life. Similarly as in The Heart
of a Cold White Land , in Away the use of juxtaposition of light and dark
characterize the different feelings of the narrator. Light seems to refer to hope and
relief whereas dark relates to feelings of pain and fear.
The last example of longing is also the last song of the triple album, The Clouds
Prepare for Battle . The lyrics represent longing from a different angle than in earlier
examples. The narrator is returning home, thus he ... Show more content on

In song The Gathering of the Black Moths has experienced loss of loved ones that
in turn causes him to the loss of hope. Similarly in 7 Hours Late the lyrics describe
the narrator s loss of his father but also the loss of hope as his father will never
return. In Heartstrings Shattering the narrator relives the loss of a loved one every
time he remembers her. Also in Room and Shadows the narrator has lost loved ones
and that loss has caused great pain and sorrow for him. As exemplified by these four
song lyrics, death circles around the concept of melancholy. As Edgar Allan Poehas
stated of all melancholy topics what, according to the universal understanding of all
mankind, is the most melancholy? Death was the obvious reply (Poe 1846:

1.When comparing Alfred Binet and Lewis Terman on their approaches to
intelligence testing there are some similarities amongst the two. One such similarity
would be regarding content. Alfred Binet s approach to intelligence testing consisted
of tests that ranged in difficulty levels from easy to hard. These tests required one to
demonstrate his or her own cognitive ability, decision making, and verbal skills.
Lewis Terman s approach to intelligencetesting was an updated version of Binet s.
Terman also used cognitive ability, decision making, and verbal skills in his testing;
however, he added mathematics, attention span, and processing skills. However, their
purposes for intelligence testing were quite different from one another. Alfred... Show

This view believes that the body and mind are two separate entities from each
other, and that they function separately from each other. Lewis Terman s view of
philosophy was that of pragmatism, in which it relies on more of a practical
nature. This view believes that principles of merit should be based solely on one s
workability, effectiveness, and practical ideas. Technical advances for Alfred Binet
would be the fact that he had measures ranging in different difficulty levels. Binet
also had a proper scoring technique in which he matched an individual s mental age
with their actual physical age. Alfred Binet did not create a suitable standardization
model. Lewis Terman created a way for Alfred Binet s intelligence test to be
standardized. He included a measure of intelligence quotient and renamed it the
Stanford Binet Intelligence Test. Lewis Terman s technical advances also shone a
light on individuals that scored in the extreme areas.
2.In the article The Trouble With Harvard according to Steven Pinker a professor

will eliminate the students who do not belong in an ivy league school, and that have
no academic standing. I do not agree with Steven Pinker s
The Chuorning Of The Ocean Summary
The world is filled with dark spirits from different various backgrounds, and various
religions. They re two distinctive examples involving the dark side of religion, that
being Hinduism involves Asuras, and Christianity involved with Satin. While many
Hindus think that the Asuras are associated with darkness, and at times are known to
cooperate with gods, unlike Christians who see satin as the darkness of the world
would never cooperate with God. To support that the Asuras cooperate with the
gods, I will use the reading The Churning of the Ocean, which describes how the
Asuras are cooperating with the gods even though they re filled with the dark side
of the divine. In the story after Indra the great god loses the power of the three worlds,
Climate Changes And Climate Change Essay
Climate change could be described as any process that causes adjustment to climate
system be it a volcanic eruption to a change in the solar activity. Today, however, the
phrase is most often used as climate change caused by humans. Climate change is
also used commonly with another phrase global warming reflecting scientific
observations of strong warming trends over the past century or so. Indicators like
rising sea levels, retreating snow cover and glaciers, longer growing seasons and
shifting wildlife has alarmed scientific community unanimously agreeing that the
earthhas warmed in the last century. Experts however are of the opinion that climate
changeis a more accurate phrase than global warming as the latter is just one
component affecting the larger climatesystems of the earth.
Based on these facts we can consider: that Climate change is a result of natural
occurrences of the adjustments done by the climate systems or a result of
anthropogenic (man made) factors leading to an acceleration of global temperatures
witnessed in the past century . Natural adjustments to climate systems:
Scientists have discovered climate forcing s influence variations in climate systems
and based on the depth and period of such forcing s the adjustments to climate may
be in a shorter or longer earth cycle. Natural forcing s like variations in earth s orbit,
solar variation, volcanic eruptions and motion of tectonic plates have influence on the

Student Loans Analysis
Dependent students are allowed to borrow $32,000in federal loans over the course
of their undergraduate career. For those deemed sufficiently needy, $23,000 of this
total can take the form of subsidized loans. A student cannot take out this full
amount in a single year; there are also annual limits on borrowing (of $2,625 to
$7,500 depending upon the student s undergraduate standing) (Financial Aid Office,
2013). Another change of student loans program is the introduction of revised
PLUS loans in 1992 that taking out the $4,000 cap, parents were allowed to borrow
up to the full cost of attendance, including room and board for full time students.
Regardless of need, these loans are open to the parents of all collegestudents.

  • 2. Huck Finn And Jim Relationship The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is one of Twain s greatest works that symbolically represents freedom meaning family and friendship in the eyes of Huck Finn and his former slave friend, Jim. Both Jim and Huck are comparable in their search for freedom. Jim is seeking to be free from slavery, while Huck Finn is seeking for freedom from the mistreatment of his drunken father and from the touchy, domineering authority of Widow Douglas and Miss Watson that once watched over him. However, although the story specifically indicates freedom and the meaning of true friendship, author Jane Smiley perceives the subject differently. It is clear that Twain wants to direct his reader s mind towards the true meaning of friendship, but the way it would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jim s original plan was to escape slavery to be with his wife and kids, while Huck explores the land to escape his abusive father and the rules of Widow Douglas and Miss Watson. Before either of them got to endure their dreams, they had to learn that they must depend on each other. In disagreement with Jane Smiley, Huck was not blinded by racism, but was perceptive of the true colors of friendship. Mark Twain s ambition in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was to encourage the reader s to value the true meaning of friendship in every
  • 3. Wernher Von Braun Accomplishments Wernher Von Braun was born in March 23, 1912 in Wirsitz, Prussia, Germany. Today, he is known as the aerospace engineer behind many of NASA s rocket designs, including, most notably, the Saturn V rockets that took astronauts to the Moon. However, as a child, his interests varied and he had changing career ambitions. Though he was always interested in astronomy and rocketry, he did not perform well in his math and science classes. However, after acquiring an aerospace engineering and astronomy book, he began to take his studies more seriously. Initially, Von Braun designed military rockets for the Nazi s, the most infamous of which was the V 2 rocket. While there is some uncertainty as to whether or not he believed in Nazi ideology, he worked... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He and his colleagues got academics, civilian engineers, and military engineers up to speed on how to design rockets and guidance systems. They also performed tests on V 2 rockets that the US military captured during the war. Von Braun led the effort in making making the Redstone rocket, which was utilized as a missile platform for the US military s first ballistic nuclear missile. Later, he modified his initial Redstone rocket design to make the Jupiter C rocket, which propelled the United States Explorer 1 satellite to space. During this time, he created very detailed plans for different space missions. Specifically, he designed a mission to put a space station that generated artificial gravity into orbit that would serve a platform for astronauts to then be sent to the Moon. He also had detailed plans on making a lunar base where astronauts could use the base as another launch point to other places in the solar system and to perform scientific experiments on the Moon s low gravity environment. He even had plans to send astronauts to Mars using his space station as a launchpad, which was something that no one at the time was talking about or even considering. In fact, he was the first person to perform a detailed analysis of traveling to Mars. Although he had designed these missions with great detail and accounting for much of the logistics of these missions, the US military was not interested in them since they did not believe it was necessary to focus on such things at that time. However, when the Russians sent the Sputnik satellite into space, the United States created NASA in 1958 in order to compete with the Russians with the aim of beating them in the space race. When the Marshall Space Flight Center was opened, Wernher Von Braunbecame the director of the facility. There he further worked on different rocket designs which included the Saturn V rocket. • 5. The Most Common Form Of Dementia The second most common form of dementia is vascular dementia, which happens when there is a blockage in the blood vessels that is in the vast system of the arteries that feeds the brain. Vascular dementia is known to affect the thinking process and older people are generally more prone to developing this disorder. Vascular Dementia, also known as multi infarct dementia, occurs when cells in the brain are deprived of oxygen. Mini strokes, also known as silent strokes, are the cause of partial blockage of the bloodvessels. The people that suffer from strokes have a 30% chance of getting dementia within three months of their stroke (Kumral and Г–zgГ¶ren, 2017). The vascular system oversees the blood vessels and provides the brain with oxygen. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Which older people are more prone to blockage of these arteries Correspondingly, there are two pathways that transports blood to the brain called internal carotid artery and vertebral artery. The internal carotid artery has three layers call the tunica adventitia, tunica media, and tunica intima. Tunica intima is made up of smooth muscle cells and elastin. The basilar artery forms and it branches out to the posterior cerebral arteries. The posterior cerebral arteries form the internal carotid arteries and when they connect they make cerebral arterial circle ( circle of willis). The middle cerebral arteries branch out two separate arteries called the anterior cerebral arteries. Each of these arteries are the force that direct the blood flow to the brain. There are three tiny vascular systems that work together to profuse the deep brain. Which are the pial, subependymal, and lenticulostriate arteries. The small area of white matter that depends on blood flow is called the subcortical shed water area. The subcortical is more prone than other areas of the brain to have ischemia. The leading cause of ischemia is the fibrin builds up and this cause a narrowing of the lumen. Which does not allow the flow of red blood cells and deprives the white matter of tissue of oxygen. The tissue then losses density and produces white matter lesions. The neurons become demyelinated which leads to loss of cognitive ability. Furthermore, the symptoms displayed by vascular dementia will
  • 6. The Mortgage Subprime Mortgage Lenders This is exactly what happened. Instead of lenders lending to responsible homeowners with a high credit score alongside a down payment which would make up prime mortgages, lenders leant to not so responsible homeowners with a low credit score and no requirement of a down payment. This made up sub prime mortgages. This was the turning point. Now subprime mortgagelenders had a massive market to sell to, wall street. They were ready to pick up all the subprime loans the mortgage lenders were selling and package them up with other loans (some quality, some not), and sell them off to investors. In addition, 80% of these bundled securities magically became investment grade ( A rated or higher), thanks to rating agencies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, house prices were not going up any more, they were instead falling substantially. This in turn also created a problem for prime home owners because as the houses in their neighbourhood went up for sale, the value of their house went down. Home owners began to wonder why they should be paying back their $250,000 mortgage when their house is only worth $70,000. They decided that it didn t make any sense to continue paying even though they could have afforded to and so they walked away from their house and as they did, default rates swept America and house prices plummeted even further. Additionally, by the middle of 2006 people were starting to take notice of the effects of the consecutive rises in interest rates which are shown to the left. All of the easily underwritten mortgages and refinances had already been done, and the first of the shaky ARMs, written 12 to 24 months earlier, were beginning to reset. (www.forbes.com/2007/09/10/subprime default mortgage pf education in_rb_0910investopedia_inl.html) (http://i.cnn.net/money/2006/06/29/news/economy/fed_rates/fed_rate_moves_525.gif) This meant that the homeowners with ARMs were about to have sharp increases in their mortgage payments and so those who couldn t afford it defaulted which was thousands at the time due to the fact that A high percentage of these subprime mortgages, over 90% in 2006 for example, were adjustable rate mortgages. • 7. The Role Of Big Brother In 1984 George Orwell Can Big Brother decide what is real and what isn t? Yes, they can. They torture people until they are hallucinating and they see what Big Brother wants them to see. He controls the past by restricting the constituents(the people) from keeping a record of what they go through daily. Any form of the past is thrown into memory holes located all around Oceana, thus enabling Big Brother to control the past, present, and meir future. The Party is not allowed to keep record either and no one has any privacy from the telescreen. Big Brother and his thought police know everything everyone is doing. Anyone that has broken any laws in Oceana is tortured, re brainwashed. Winston was hooked up to this machine that is designed to stretch the backbones until they break(234). This man named O Brien was the person turning the dial. He was interrogating Winston while torturing and brainwashing him to believe the party, again. In section 3 chapter 2, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For how could you establish even the most obvious fact when there existed no record outside your own memory? He tried to remember in what year he had first heard mention of Big Brother. He thought it must have been at some time in the sixties, but it was impossible to be certain. In the Party histories, of course, Big Brother figured as the leader and guardian of the Revolution since its very earliest days. (1.3.22) In this quote it explains how Winston couldn t remember when Big Brother took power because no one has a document of when it happened. Any memory that anyone has, including everyone in the party, they must drop down the memory holes. Winston, however, does not listen and gets a diary and writes everything in it. Another reason Winston keeps a diary is because his job is to write new pasts and the dairy helps him keep track of what the real past was. Big Brother also has a telescreen which they use to watch everyone and brainwash
  • 8. Analysis Of Night By Elie Wiesel The Jewish ethnic population of the world was reduced by one third in the world s most worst and known genocide, the Holocaust. Night by Elie Wiesel describes his firsthand experience going through multiple concentration camps that systematically murdered individuals of Jewish cultural heritage, and while groups such as queer people, Romani ethnic groups, individuals with disabilities, black people, as well as the Slavs, were persecuted, Night explains being apart of the Ashkenazi Jewish ethnic group. Eliezer Wiesel discusses the theme of racial inequality in his memoir Night, through his use of descriptive, vivid, yet simple statements that use foreshadowing to trope different experiences. Wiesel is expressing to the readers of his personalized traumatic experience, as well as urging it never happen to any marginalized group, not in the future or present. Wiesel starts in the beginning describing the life of a Jewish family and their cultural heritage before the Holocaust. He uses imagery to show how the genocide would begin with a limitation of Jewish people s rights. A Jew no longer had the right to keep in his house gold, jewels, or any objects of value. (Wiesel 8) He discusses on the fact how it would start slowly yet quickly with restrictions and what they can /cannot do inside of their houses as well as rules on their personal property. They were then forced to live in neighborhoods called ghettos together, and eventually led to deportation. Wiesel writes how they were being given no information, There are rumors to work in brick factories in Hungary. (Weisel 4) Where were the people being taken to? Didn t anyone know yet? Many people saw, and still see, democratic government as unfair, leaving the poor behind to become poorer while the rich continued to get richer; they felt a change in work and fairness was officially in order. Utopian societies were created with commendable intentions, and their idea of the perfect cooperative society is an attractive conference, but they were all considered experiments because they all declined swiftly and hopelessly. Ideal communities have varied considerably in philosophy and design, and maybe not all have been persistently utopian in the draconian understanding of hoping to achieve a system for a perfect community. • 31. Experimentation And Other Research Designs The most basic difference between experimentation and other research designs is that experimentation seeks to determine what might happen if certain variables in a given situation are changed. According to Cooper and Schindler (2014), experimentation requires that a researcher accept the world as it is found (p. 192). In other words, a researcher conducting experimentation is not seeking to determine a causal link between events and outcomes; rather, the experimenter seeks to determine what may happen if some variable in the chain of events is altered. Unlike ex post facto research, which asks questions after an event occurs to determine what is or what has been (Cooper Schindler, 2014, p. 192), experimental research manipulates... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the correlation between a cause and its effects may seem apparent, often too many different factors must be considered. Through experimentation, more accurate correlations may be made to determine a cause. This aspect of experimental research makes it somewhat superior to other forms of research (Rutter, 2007). Another advantageous characteristic of experimental research is the possibility of replication. In most research applications, too many variables may pollute a given situation and increase the difficulty with which to adequately make initial observations. Experimental research is more easily contained to the desired set of variables, and as such experiments can be replicated to further test hypotheses. Reproducing an experiment is much easier than conducting additional research by other means (Fagaras, Kovacs, Oros, Rafaila, Topa Harrant, 2013). The use of experimentation is not necessarily a biblical concept. However, the Bible provides guidance in all areas of life. As such, truths spoken for certain purposes can be applied to other areas in many cases. For instance, in 1 John 4:1 (English Standard Version), we are instructed to not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. While this relates more to our Christian lives, we can apply this idea to experimental research. In using experiments, we are testing different variables to determine whether or not they are related to a
  • 32. Perspective On Reality In James Joyce s Araby A person who feels they need to accomplish something needs to have the tenacity to complete it. They would feel satisfied once they do, and discontented otherwise. For an external source to destroy significant progress, anger will be conveyed. In some cases, it can change a person s perspective on reality. As they continue to age, their outlook would mature to accept reality as it is. James Joyces short story, Araby, centers on an unnamed boy who is on a romantic quest for his crush; a journey to the bazaar, aptly named Araby, in order to get her a souvenir. Initially, a normal endeavor for his crush; however soon becomes ill fated. Joyce also implements another narrative element to the story; the same boy now older reminiscing those events unfazed and dispirited. The narrative of the older counterpart initially is subtle; but later throughout the story, it is effective about commenting his past. Reinforcing this is his imaginative obsession with his crush that he soon becomes oblivious to obstacles in his life that would complete his dream of love. To make his quest more difficult, he is delayed by his uncle who does not have the same passion of the bazaar s importance unlike the boy. By implementing imagery, two point of views, and conflict, Araby reveals the boy s ignorance to the harsh reality he resides in while using his future self to reflect his mundane past. In his short story, imagery is commonly used to reflect what the boy is thinking about at a given

Her husband, a free man named John Bowley, contacted Harriet, warning her of this troubling news and requested her help in rescuing his wife and children. Harriet organized for her return to Maryland and was able to help Bowley buy his wife s freedom. They were then brought to their refuge and new home, Philadelphia. Technical advances for Alfred Binet would be the fact that he had measures ranging in different difficulty levels. Binet also had a proper scoring technique in which he matched an individual s mental age with their actual physical age. Alfred Binet did not create a suitable standardization model. Lewis Terman created a way for Alfred Binet s intelligence test to be standardized. He included a measure of intelligence quotient and renamed it the Stanford Binet Intelligence Test. Lewis Terman s technical advances also shone a light on individuals that scored in the extreme areas. 2.In the article The Trouble With Harvard according to Steven Pinker a professor from Harvard, he believes that SAT s should be the only basis for admissions to the elite ivy league schools today. Pinker feels that standardized testing is the key to creating the best graduates. Steven Pinker goes on to say that standardized testing will eliminate the students who do not belong in an ivy league school, and that have no academic standing. I do not agree with Steven Pinker s
  • 50. The Chuorning Of The Ocean Summary The world is filled with dark spirits from different various backgrounds, and various religions. They re two distinctive examples involving the dark side of religion, that being Hinduism involves Asuras, and Christianity involved with Satin. While many Hindus think that the Asuras are associated with darkness, and at times are known to cooperate with gods, unlike Christians who see satin as the darkness of the world would never cooperate with God. To support that the Asuras cooperate with the gods, I will use the reading The Churning of the Ocean, which describes how the Asuras are cooperating with the gods even though they re filled with the dark side of the divine. • 51. Climate Changes And Climate Change Essay Climate change could be described as any process that causes adjustment to climate system be it a volcanic eruption to a change in the solar activity. Today, however, the phrase is most often used as climate change caused by humans. Climate change is also used commonly with another phrase global warming reflecting scientific observations of strong warming trends over the past century or so. Indicators like rising sea levels, retreating snow cover and glaciers, longer growing seasons and shifting wildlife has alarmed scientific community unanimously agreeing that the earthhas warmed in the last century. Experts however are of the opinion that climate changeis a more accurate phrase than global warming as the latter is just one component affecting the larger climatesystems of the earth. Based on these facts we can consider: that Climate change is a result of natural occurrences of the adjustments done by the climate systems or a result of anthropogenic (man made) factors leading to an acceleration of global temperatures witnessed in the past century . Natural adjustments to climate systems: Scientists have discovered climate forcing s influence variations in climate systems and based on the depth and period of such forcing s the adjustments to climate may be in a shorter or longer earth cycle. Natural forcing s like variations in earth s orbit, solar variation, volcanic eruptions and motion of tectonic plates have influence on the Earth s climate
