England became the most developed capitalist country in...
England became the most developed capitalist country in the end of the XVIII century. Cotton,
machinery and iron industries made England the leader of the world. Development of the slave
trade, the exploitation of natural resources of the colonies and the accumulation of monetary wealth
brings tremendous benefits to the bourgeoisie.
There were incredible changes in society, progress in technology and making reforms during the
nineteenth century. In the early ninetieth government sought to suppress free political expression
through fining editors and giving them prison sentences, sensitive material had to pass official
censors before being published. In the nineteenth century the breaking point of the English press

Relationship Between Cellular Respiration And Photosynthesis
Cellular respiration and photosynthesis are the primary actions that organisms go through in order
to retrieve efficiency through nature. Photosynthesis is primarily done by plants and cellular
respiration is done by animals in order to gain the energy they require. Photosynthesis is the process
through which plant cells convert energy from the sun into chemical vitality. The chemical process
of photosynthesisinvolves carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight which are then turned to glucose and
oxygen. Cellular respiration consists of the separation of food molecules that results in energy
which is then reserved as adenosine triphosphate molecules. After sugar molecules are formed by
photosynthesis, the plants go through cellular respiration in order to form ATP molecules. Animals
gather food molecules... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first stage is glycolysis, the second stage is the linking reaction, the third stage is the Krebs
cycle, and the final stage is electron transport. During the glycolysis stage glucose is
disintegrated, this happens in the cytoplasm of the cell. Once the glucose is broken down two
identical compounds are created. Two electrons and a hydrogen ion are removed then attached to
adenine forming NADH. Water is then formed using an oxygen and two hydrogen atoms. In this
stage two ATP molecules are added. The linking reaction occurs in the mitochondria of the cell.
NAD+ and pyruvate come together to form NADH and an acetyl enzyme. The Krebs cycle
involves removing hydrogen atoms from the acetyl coenzyme in order to form four molecules of
ATP. Carbon then combines with oxygen, creating carbon dioxide. Electrons are unconstrained and
move towards the electron transport chain because of NADH. These electrons go through the
electron chain until it finds an oxygen atom, where water is formed then released. ATP molecules
are created because of the energy released by the electron. In this stage 32 molecules of ATP are

Essay on Andrew Jackson
Andrew Jackson, the seventh president of the United States, was born on March 15, 1767 in
Waxhaw on the North Carolina South Carolina border. He is a controversial man who greatly
impacted our country both during his presidency and long term. His actions may have been
questioned at the time, as some still are today, but his strong willed chauvinism in democracy is
just what our country needed to hold itself together. Jackson did not have a typical family setting
growing up. His father passed away before his birth, leaving his mother the single parent of three
young boys. To help lighten the burden of raising young children on her own, his mother moved in
with her Crawford relatives. There Jackson attended school, attaining an... Show more content on

It wasn t until 1794 that they were officially married after Mr. Robards agreed to a divorce. The
promiscuity of their affair later hindered Jackson s political career (Anderson et al. 207).
However, at the time, Nashville didn t see anything wrong with the relationship between these
two deeply devoted lovers. Despite the accusations Jackson received concerning his questionable
adulterous acts, they did not affect his impressive rise in Tennessee politics. In 1795 he was
delegated to the state constitutional convention and later Tennessee s first congressman and then
senator. After his first year as senator, Jackson resigned to accept a job closer to home, judge of
Tennessee s superior court. Along his political ride, Jackson held his share of outrageous quarrels.
A hothead himself, Jackson was no foreigner to fights, brawls, or duels. Of these numerous
encounters, the most infamous began over a simple misunderstanding with Charles Dickinson
over a horse race in 1806. This rift ended in a duel between the two men. Dickinson, a marksman,
fired the first shot and struck Jackson in the chest. Despite the wound, Jackson showed no sign of
pain and instead aimed precisely and fatally shot Dickinson (Stone 264). It was encounters such as
this that marked him as a violent and dangerous man, and helped block his further political advance
( Miller Center ). After his time in politics, Jackson craved service in the military. With probable

Darcy And Collins Proposal Essay
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be
in want of a wife, this quote is the first line of Pride and Prejudice, which also stands as a
summary for the entire plot of the story: marriage. This plot involves many key events, two of the
most important being Darcy s proposal to Elizabeth and Collins proposal to Elizabeth.
Within both proposals, Darcy and Collins are confident that Elizabeth will accept. Mr. Collins is
Elizabeth s cousin who is next in line to receive the Bennet estate. This reason, with the fact that
his patroness, Lady Catherine, wants him to pursue a wife, is why he proposed to Elizabeth, and
with the estate circumstances, why he assumed she would say yes. Darcy s proposal is similar in
the way that he takes into account how the marriage would be of benefit to Elizabeth and her
family, financially and socially. Both Collins and Darcy speak in a way that comes across as
arrogance. They both take it upon themselves to emphasize the benefits marriage to ... Show more

Darcy s feelings for Elizabeth are authentic and sincere whereas Collins has little to no affection
for Elizabeth whatsoever. During Darcy s proposal, he begins by stating his love for Elizabeth
and then the advantages on her part. He also absurdly states how marrying her is a sacrifice for
him because she is without a fortune and has little meaningful connections. Darcy insults
Elizabeth s sister, Jane, as well as her family. Collin s takes the initiative to state why he is in
want of a wife and why he thinks she would be a suitable match for him. Both men do not even try
to compliment and admire her qualities as a person; instead, both men insult Elizabeth. Though,
Darcy does say, I love you, Collins does not mention having this feeling for Elizabeth. Collins
brings up an almost scare tactic in telling Elizabeth that she might not receive another offer of

A Literary Analysis For The Landlady By Roald Dahl
Paragraph of Analysis for The Landlady by Roald Dahl The theme of The Landlady by Roald
Dahl is that things aren t always as they seem. When Billy was on his way to a hotel, he found a
bed and breakfast place in which the price was Five and six pence a night, including breakfast It
was fantastically cheap. It was less than half of what he had been willing to pay (Dahl 75). Billy
thought that a bed and breakfastwould cost much more than five and six pence a night, so he was
dazzled at the cheap price that it was. He decided that since the price was so sincerely cheap, he

Expert organizations such as the Institute of MIS along with peer reviewed journals such as MIS
Quarterly continue to find and report new ways to use MIS to achieve business objectives.
Better Planning and Control:
MIS has to be designed and managed in such way that it aggregates information, monitors the
company s activities and operations and enhances communication and collaboration among
employees (Obrien). This ensures better planning for all activities and better ways to measure
performance, manage resources and facilitate compliance with industry and government
regulations. Control helps in forecasting, preparing accurate budgets and providing the tools and
vital information to employees, top management and business partners.
Core Competencies:
Every market leading enterprise will have at least one core competency that is, a function they
perform better than their competition. By building an exceptional management information system
into the enterprise it is possible to push out ahead of the competition. MIS systems provide the
tools necessary to gain a better understanding of the market as well as a better understanding of the
enterprise itself.
Enhance Supply Chain Management:
Improved reporting of business processes leads inevitably to a more streamlined production process.
With better information on the production process, comes the ability to improve the management of

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Op-Amps
Abstract Operational amplifiers (Op Amps) are basic building blocks of a wide range of analog
and mixed signal systems. Basically, Op Amps are voltage amplifiers used for achieving high
gain by applying differential inputs. As CMOS technology is most suitable for realizing VLSI
system, it leads to continues trend in scaling down the size of transistor. Hence, reduced power
dissipation is one of the challenges in front of most of designers. However, Power dissipation can
be reduced by reducing either supply voltage or total current in the circuit or by reducing the both.
As we decrease input current, though power dissipation is reduced, but the dynamic range is

The Train Speeding Along The Tracks Beneath Me
I could hear the sound of the train speeding along the tracks beneath me. Looking outside my
window, I could see a blur of parched grass and vast paddocks of sheep drinking from lakes.
I was in a dim mood. My parents had sent me away from our home town Braedon to spend time
with my grandmother in the country town of Redwood, because, as they bluntly put it, she
wouldn t be around for many more years. I didn t mind visiting my grandpa, but I hated that the
fact that I had to travel out of Braedon. I loved the city the convenience of only being five minutes

It s the small details which lead me to find a love for the city. Say, like last year, I found my way
into a remote village in Kenya. It was unforgettable. I can still picture the welcoming locals, smiling
at me and the other tourists...
For the remaining hour of the trip, I reflected on my opinion of travelling. All my life, I lived in
the city and due to my routined lifestyle, I was rarely anywhere unfamiliar. I disliked travelling as
I feared being alone, facing something new. Yet after talking to Chris, I began to realise the golden
opportunity I had to experience all the world had to offer to me.
Eventually, the train had come to a halt at my stop Redwood. The deserted train station, which
catered for the whole town, was tiny, with only two short platforms. Along the flat landscape, I
could see rows of houses and the town s church, the steeple proudly and loftily reaching to the clear
blue sky.
I farewelled Chris and got off the train with my suitcase. The air was crisp, clean and clear. I
thought of the dusty city air and gridlocked streets with car fumes. How big was this difference? I
decided to forget my past impressions of Redwood and instead try to enjoy my stay with my
grandpa.

Cvs Sets High Standards For Csr Policies
CVS sets high standards for CSR policies. The strategy is build upon three key factors, which
include building healthy communities, protecting the planet, and creating economic opportunities.
It is supported by strategic priorities and goals, and aligned with the CSR material issues we
identified in 2013, a process that was informed by internal and external stakeholders (CVS Health).
One of the factors, which are also included in our CVSВґs mission statement, is to make healthcare
accessible and affordable. The market reach of CVS is expanding through a globalized
environment. The second of these three pillars of CVSВґs corporate social responsibility takes the
environmental awareness into account. A reduction in the environmental impact resulting from

considered a two dimensional material.1 It is currently touted as the thinnest, strongest, lightest,
most flexible and best conducting material known to science.2 Although some of this is based on

Comparing John Locke s Distinction Between Primary And...
A Discussion On Locke s Distinction Between Primary And Secondary Qualities And Berkeley s
Opposition
Moved by a desire to end skepticism and provide proof for the existence of God, Berkeley
defended that the root of all of the former is the belief that there are mind independent matters.
Much different than his immaterialist view, John Lockedeveloped a philosophy in advances to an
apparently natural form of realism, in where material matters are in existences, but also
independently of our minds. In this essay I will discuss John Locke s idea of primary and
secondary qualities as well as Berkeley s objection that both must exist only in our minds.
In order to discuss primary and secondary qualities, we must first address the definition ... Show

As mentioned previously, one of the most known objections to the distinction of primary and
secondary qualities was raised by George Berkeley. Differently than Locke, who was a
metaphysical dualist, Berkeley was an immaterialist. His philosophy defended that all objects
are strictly fragments of our minds: All that exists are minds and their ideas . As Locke defines
secondary qualities as ideas in our minds caused by objects in the real world, it follows that
central to Berkeley s objection is the idea that secondary qualities are strictly in our minds, using
it to argue that primary qualities must also be products of our minds rather than of objects in the
world. In his words, That the qualities we perceive are not on the objects: that we must not
believe our senses: that we know nothing of the real nature of things, and can never be assured
even of their existence: that real colours and sounds are nothing but certain unknown figures and
motions:. . . these are the strange notions which . . . embarrass the mind with endless doubts and
difficulties. And it is against these. . . I endeavor to vindicate common sense . Berkeley argued
that secondary qualities are only ideas in our mind, therefore so are primary qualities. For him,
there cannot be ideas that exist independent of a mind, as well as no things existing that are not
ideas. Reinforced by Philonous, There are only things perceiving, and things perceived;

The Underlying Causes Of World War One
World War One was one of the most deadly conflicts in all human history. It began in 1914 and
ended in 1918. In those four years, almost 17 million people died and over 20 million were
wounded. What were the underlying causes of WWI? Three of these causes were militarism,
nationalism, and the loose alliances that had been formed prior to the war. It is only warlike
nations which have prospered; a nation dies as soon as it disarms (Emile Zola, The Origins of the
First World War). This is one of many examples of the sense of militarism in most of the European
countries during, and even before, WWI. Militarism is the belief that one s country should maintain
a strong military. This caused tension with the European countries because even before

Explain Why The Government Should Change The Driving Age...
Introduction
Car crashes are one of the leading causes of death amongst teens today, and teens 16 18 have the
highest car crash rates of any age group. Currently the government is only taking precautionary
measures. Even though drivers education and written testing are good, there s more the government
can do. For such a major issue the government is doing very little to prevent it. The change begins
with education. Once people know about the issue then there s more support for government
involvement. The government should change the driving age to 18 because politically it would unify
the United States under one age and reduce car crashes.
Historical Perspective
Ever since the automobile gained its popularity in the 1920 s, car crashes have always been a risk
that came with the responsibly of driving. Starting in 1921, states began to lower the driving age
to 16 from 18 according to grounded parents.com. In the time of the roaring 20 s, the addition
young drivers on the road, increase in alcohol consumption, and increase in number of
automobiles purchased led to an age of reckless driving. As shown in a photograph in the library
of Congress from a 20s car crash, Two cars are completely destroyed and one is smashed into a
tree with two solemn people standing next to it. This photograph shows the opposite of the
perception of the roaring 20s. Instead of seeing the exciting new adventures the automobile has to
offer, the viewers see destruction, devastation , and loss. Another authentic political cartoon from
the 20s published by the Saint Louis Star displays the same theme of the other side of the roaring
20s. The political cartoon shows a car ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

s son Hassan takes a sudden toll as he ultimately comes to believe that traditional and historical
beliefs outweighed true friendshipas he was a young child. The mindset of Baba does not adjust
when he and Amir are forced to move to America, as he still believes he possesses the same
amount of power as he did in Afghanistan. While living in America, Baba never fully adapts to the
American culture and way of life as he continues to live and... Show more content on

One day Asseff rapes Hassan as an act of power, and Amir witnesses the actions but acts in a
cowardly matter and simply avoids the matter by ignoring it. Amir then proceeds to cut off the
relationships between himself and Hassan, I actually aspired to cowardice, but the real reason I
was running, was that Asseff was right. Nothing was free in this world. Maybe Hassan was the
price I had to pay, the lamb I had to slay to win Baba. Was it a fair price? The answer floated to
my conscious mind before I could thwart it: He was just a Hazara. Wasn t he? Amir did it because
the traditional and historical beliefs were more important than friendship. This action displays how
being born in a different social class can outweigh all feelings of love and friendship with one of a
different social group.
As the war in Afghanistan begins, Baba and Amir flee to America where they went from being
at the top of the social pyramid, to starting again at the very bottom. Baba s mindset however,
remains the same throughout his whole life. Back in Afghanistan, Baba was very proud of his
possessions and the ability to afford so many luxuries, as he often would show off his fancy
mustang which he bought prior to seeing it in a movie, Then, Baba and I drove off in his black
Ford Mustang a car that drew envious looks everywhere because it was the same car Steve
McQueen had driven in Bullitt, a film that played in one theater for six months.. . When Baba and

The Video Called Through Deaf Eyes Made Me
The video called Through Deaf Eyes made me think a lot about what they had to overcome to
get to where they are today. As I watched the movie several things made me stop and think about
how hard some of them had it growing up. In the beginning of the movie, I learned that 90% of
deaf people have hearing parents. Then only 10% of those parents who have deaf children even
learn sign language. Then to top it off only 1% of those parents are fathers. I feel that most
people who have deaf children, feel like there is something wrong with their child. When in
reality the only thing is their hearing. It just aggravates me when parents won t take time to learn
something, so that way they can communicate with their children. To me all kids should be able
to communicate with their parents in the way that is easy for them. To tie into this a little more I
m going to jump to the end of the movie, where they were interviewing two families. The first
family made their kids get cochlear implants, hearing aids. Had them take speaking lessons, and
didn t allow their kids to sign. The other family let their son learn sign language. They also learned
sign language, so they could communicate with their child. I feel like, the first family felt like their
children were less than them. They had their kids stand behind them during the interview. They
talked directly towards the camera the whole time didn t look towards their kid. The second family
sat next to their child, like they were all

Offshoring and Outsourcing Term Paper
Term Paper The debate of outsourcing or offshoring American jobs rather than utilizing our
unemployed citizens has been a highly controversial topic in the past decade. Outsourcing has
many advantages to business firms such as lower production costs, lower labor costs, improved
quality of work, more time to focus on domestic operations, and increased profits which help
stimulate our economy. The opposing view argues that by outsourcingjobs to other countries it is
causing higher unemployment in America and stimulating the economies of other nations rather
than our own by providing them with jobs, resources, facilities and capital. Though there will never
be a universal agreement on this matter both sides do have merit to them and make... Show more

Companies can now manage foreign partners in any country with use of the internet, webcams,
phone conferences, and even the ability to control and monitor finances, bookkeeping, and other
operations from computers at the offices here in America. Another trend America has seen over
the past few decades is the shift from manufacturing to services. With the ability to outsource
production jobs the American economy has been much more focused on service careers, which
are something that can be outsourced to serve foreign customers but will always have a place in
the American marketplace since services must be consumed at purchase, meaning to serve
American customers the service providers must operate within US borders. The ease of
offshoring and the benefits it provides makes the idea of global expansion very attractive, but
there are still aspects of offshoring that make the concept undesirable to others. There is large
opposition to the idea of outsourcing jobs to foreign countries when there is such a high level of
unemployment here in America. By 2015 the number of American jobs expected to be lost to
outsourcing since 2000 is 3.3 million according to a recent report by Forrester Research (
Outsourcing, PBS ). As of October 2010 the American unemployment rate is at 9.6 percent, and the
fact that so many jobs are being sent overseas is disturbing to many who

The Civil Rights Activist Malcolm X
The future belongs to those who prepare for it today said Malcolm X ( 1960 s). To fully
understand what Malcolm X was trying to say, one would have to understand what future really
means. Future: the time or a period of time following the moment of speaking or writing; time
regarded as still to come (Merriam). An interpretation of this is that one should prepare for the
future, so that when the future becomes the present, a person knows she or he did everything thing
he could have to make today better than yesterday. The future was always a very big concept for
the Civil Rights Activist. The future was always something the Civil Rights Activist wanted to
concur by making equal rights for people of all races, and gender. They conquered the future by
getting the Jim Crow lawsabolished, and many other things like the end of discrimination. To
some, the 1960 s was the golden era for Civil Rights because of events like Bloody Sunday, and
the Greensboro sit ins. These movements, and many others, led to the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
However, many would question if the law is still used today. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is
indeed still relevant today in education, politics, and in the workplace.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a very important law that changed a lot of things for many people
of different races, genders, and religions. The law basically outlaws discrimination based on race,
color, religion, sex, or national origin in the United States of America ( 1960 s ).

Social Realism And The Works Of Literature
.
Chapter 1
Introduction
Literature has thousands threads which can weave the beautiful piece of art each time thread has its
own importance in the creative work. In the same way, there are different narratives techniques for
the narration in literature. Among those narrative techniques, Realism in literature, is an approach
that attempts to describe life without Idealization or Romantic subjectivity. Social realism also
known as Socio Realism, is an artistic movement, expressed which mainly depicts working class
activities. Social realism in the plays are the representative of real life, with all its difficulties. The
stories and people portrayed are every day characters, usually from working class background.
Typically, plays within the social realist canon are gritty, urban dramas about the struggle to survive
the daily grind.
An art movement, that refers to the work of writers, painters, and filmmakers is known as Social
Realism. The artists draw attention to the everyday conditions of the working classes and the poor,
and are critical of the social structures that maintain these poor conditions. While the movement s
artistic styles vary from nation to nation, it almost always uses a form of descriptive or critical
realism.
Social Realism developed as a reaction

Women Las Vegas Escorts And The Single Man
#### Female Las Vegas Escorts and the Single Man
One of the most common misconceptions about men seeking escorts in Las Vegas is that they are
predominately married. A reputable escort service does not inquire about unimportant details such
as marital status, so we cannot offer a number reflecting single men versus married men seeking
female Las Vegas escortsor gay male companions. What we can say with certainty is that many
singles in Las Vegas utilize the services of paid entertainers. Local single men have confessed to
being shunned from the Vegas swingers community because most Vegas swinger clubs grant entry
to only couples and single women. So what s a man to do when his normal, healthy sexual appetite
requires variety? That s where a Vegas escort comes in!
One of the ways to delight in no strings, unfettered pleasure from an unfamiliar source is to utilize
the services of a private escort in Las Vegas. Sure, there are other quick fixes, such as the Vegas
Backpage ads and Craigslist casual encounters sections, but that often results in disappointment
because independent girls in Vegas usually are not licensed outcall entertainers, which means they
have not gone through the proper channels to work as a Vegas escort. Why take chances when you
are already in the premier location for a hot hookup that is private and passionate? We can promise
a certain degree of professionalism that is not guaranteed among the ranks of independent escorts in

Pediatric Pathology Personal Statement
When I first started medical school, I did not know what Pathology entailed as a specialty. My
original goal was then to become an oncologist, pushed by my enthusiasm for the diagnosis
process and a strong personal interest in the pathogenesis of cancer. Before then, I had always
found the meticulous search and gathering of clues to support a discovery to be mentally
stimulating. I was never bored. This is why I had been drawn to research during my undergraduate
studies in biochemistry and later choose to renew my efforts and complete a Master on the subject
of molecular genetics, giving me valuable research experience in histology, oncology and the
histopathology of cancer. This passion continued to shape my life and my aspirations during
medical schoolwhile I discovered the field of Pathology.

features of a chondroma and of a sarcoma. We both knew that a diagnosis of sarcoma would cost
the child his leg. But a mistake on our part could cost him his life. I was able to fully appreciate
that the immense rewards of pathology are balanced with a heavy responsibility toward vulnerable
patients for whom a pathologist mistake can cause an adverse outcome. This experience would

Analysis Of Pompeii In The Satyricon
The Satyricon has been dated to the first century CE, in which Pompeii was a Roman city and the
eruption of Mount Vesuvius happened in 79 CE. Due to the mentions of Pompeii in The Satyricon
without mention of the eruption, it can be assumed that the novel was written before the eruption
and that some of the Roman lifestyles can be applied to Pompeii as it still stood and was partially
Romanized during this text. Although this Roman work is a fictional satire, it still illuminates
what social parties, house design, slave relations, women s roles, religious beliefs, etc. may have
been like in the final days of Pompeii. The excerpt analyzed from The Satyricontells the events that

Punishment of slaves is evident throughout the section of Trimalchio s Feast for a slave who
dropped a dish and a chef who forgot to gut the pig (Petronius 25, 39). The roles these slaves
have are typical of those in a home according to George, and other slave tasks included personal
hygiene which is glimpsed the guests feet are cleaned when they enter the dining area (Petronius
23). George also explains how slaves were treated as inanimate objects and not fully human;
however, Trimalchio later exclaims, My dear people he said, slaves are human beings too... In
fact, I m setting them all free in my will (Petronius 58). This contradiction shows how slaves may
have been treated differently in each household and how complex the relationship between
master and slave seem. It also shows how the chance of manumission was the main method to
keep slaves in line (George 540). Trimalchio s feast is a large affair and occurs in many spaces
throughout his household, allowing a glimpse in possible uses for different rooms. The story s
narrator describes the room right off of the entrance which would be the atrium in the atrium house
type. He points of a Beware of the Dog which is seen in many Pompeian houses including the
House of the Surgeon (Petronius 22). Additionally there is a mural, a shrine, and a gold casket

The Main Goal Of An Artist
Similar to all great writers and innovators, the main goal of an artist is to spark a creative
perspective in the audience. Sarah Ruhl s oddly blunt play, Eurydice, was meant to open up our
minds and create an outlook that has never been achieved before. Her intent was to keep us on
our toes and read between the lines in order to find the hidden truths in each line. The simplicity of
the script was meant to be a little strange and dull, but by doing this Ruhl entered a realm of
playwriting that has not been accomplished before. Usually, in the performances we watch we are
bombarded with long, complex sentences that leave the audienceconfused. The vocabulary used is
always either outdated or too complicated for many people to understand quickly. However, in this
place Ruhl took the opposite approach and chose short and simple sentences, leaving more room
for interpretation. By making each line somewhat awkward and dull, Ruhl engages the audiences
attention in order to make sense of the words. Many factors could have motivated Ruhl to write
her play in such fashion. For example, when I was reading the playI connected her style of writing
to artists and poets of the 1960 s, like Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison, who had such a beautiful yet
simple play on words. Her outlandish sentences probably made no sense to someone with a closed
mind, this related directly to how the Dylan and Morrison were perceived in their time as well.

Analytic Rubrics
There are advantages and disadvantages that exist for both holistic and analytic rubrics. Teachers
use holistic rubrics (e.g. the Holistic Oral Language Scoring Rubric and the Holistic Scoring Rubric
for Writing Assessment with ELL Students) to assess their students cognitive functions
simultaneously while analytic rubrics (e.g. the Student Oral Language Observation Matrix and the
Analytic Scoring Rubric for Writing) assess children s abilities separately and assign a different

following: faster scoring process; can be used a means of summative assessment at the end of

The For Intellectual Property Law Essay
Before college, when I heard about lawyers I only ever thought of one thing, the bar exam, and
how awful it must be to prepare and take such a test. Now, moving steadily through the senior
year of my undergraduate degree, my aspirations are quite different than what they were before
college. With my changing goals, being a lawyer is now a profession that I wish to be a part of in
the not too distant future. Specifically, I am aspiring to work in Intellectual PropertyLaw. This form
of law deals with protecting tangible and intangible creations of clients. These tangible and
intangible creations range from inventions to symbols and often require being an expert in specific
fields, such as industries, the arts, or science (Wilson, 2016).
In order to assess a potential employee s attributes, a future employer will administer pre

fact, law schools admit individuals with degrees from almost every field of study

From a biblical perspective, all laws come from God and are shown to us through His Word. The
Bible proves that what the student did was unethical. As a result, the college was ethically acting
when they decided to punish the student for wrong doing. The Bible will prove that words are
very powerful, the student s actions were unethical, and the college has the ethical right to punish
those who breaks the rules. This is not a case of right or wrong it is all about should this student be
punished. While the Bibledoes show why the student was acting unethically it will also prove that
the college should act and punish the student according to its rules.

It is not just a word, it s a weapon that has hurt many people throughout all of history.
God, the creator of the world and all that is in it, knows the power of the tongue. James supports
this point in chapter 1 of his book, he wrote in verse 19, Everyone should be quick to listen, slow
to speak and slow to become angry (NIV). After carefully listening, it is most appropriate to
respond slowly, in order to choose the right words. God also tells us in the Old Testamentwhat he
thinks of the use of the tongue for evil. Proverbs 6 tells of the seven things that the Lord hates.
Two of them pertain to words, ... a lying tongue, and a false witness who pours out lies. (17,19
NIV) Hate is a strong word and when God, the creator of natural laws, says he hates something it
must be very serious. Jesus also reiterated this point in the New Testament in Matthew 15, What
goes into someone s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what
defiles them. (11, NIV) Jesus takes the Old Testament law and describes how to live since the law
was abolished. Under the law there were specific guidelines on what not to eat in order to avoid
uncleanliness (sin), but Jesus says that it is what you say and the words that you use that makes
you unclean (sinful). Warnings and cautions are all throughout scripture, using words to hurt others
is not an acceptable practice and is considered unethical. It is also important to note words do not

Evolution of Intermodal Transportation
With the global market becoming more connected and competitive, the United States supply chain
needs to constantly evolve to survive. Advancing technology and E Commerce allow customers to
order products from literally anywhere in the world, resulting in a sudden emergence of strong
global competition. To compete America needs to be able to provide the same goods faster and
more efficient that their competitors. However many improvements in every branch of the
American transportation supply chain including infrastructure and logistics need to be made in to
achieve this. One practice that is becoming more essential to compete in the growing global market
is intermodal freight transportation. Before the history and evolution of intermodal freight
transportation can be discussed it must first be defined. One article defines intermodal freight
transportation as the use of two or more modes to move a shipment from origin to destination
(Dewitt and Clinger, n.d., p. 1). A prime example of intermodal freight transportation in America is
transfer of trailers and containers from container ships to either trains or trucks. Goods are then
typically transferred to trucks for the final delivery door to door. Intermodal transport is not only
trailer and container traffic, but also bulk goods like grain, building products, and coal (Dewitt and
Clinger, n.d.). In North America intermodal freight transportbenefits from the country s huge

Sweat By Kate Chopin Analysis
Zora Neale Hurston Kate Chopin Poetry is used by writers such as Zora Neale Hurston and Kate
Chopin to express ideas and words through a sense of writing and rhythm that is felt by the poet
who is writing it. Years ago, poets would use poetry as a record of history where they told life
events that was happening or how modern societies were expected to be. The Poetryof this period
forms the immediate background and matrix of their own work, so much so that unless one keeps

The Art Of Technology And Schools Essay
The Art of Technology in Schools
All types of technology are becoming more prevalent everywhere. Everyone has a tablet,
laptop, smart phone, iPad or some type of technology in this day and age. It seems as if kids are
gaining more access to these technologies because of their schools. In schools students are being
given technology for homework and online textbooks now. Students are also getting exposure to
technology as teaching aids in schools as well. Many people believe that technology in class
rooms is a recipe for disaster. Students will just be distracted and not use the technology what it
is meant for. While there are disadvantages to the technology within schools as teaching aids and
free use technology for students; there are many advantages to these technologies, and ultimately
technology is very beneficial for students and teachers.
On the surface technology in the classroom as free use is just asking for distractions
during class. During lecture students are going to be on social media, YouTube, playing games,
or listening to music. As technology being a distraction is just one of the many disadvantages,
this is the biggest issue. In an article written by Kate Bane talking about technology being a

The Environmental Consequences And Effects Of Climate Change
Climate change is a serious environmental issue which influences changes in temperature, humidity,
air quality, precipitation, and land surface wetness across the globe (Institute of Medicine [IOM],
2011). Small changes in these factors can snowball into larger and potentially disastrous outcomes
in climate and weather. For example, the 1.5В°F increase in the average global temperature during
the past century has been accompanied by serious environmental consequences such as an increase
in floods, droughts, heavy rainfall, and more frequent and intense heat waves (Environmental
Protection Agency [EPA], n.d.). Over the next century, the increase in the Earth s average
temperature is predicted to rise by another 0.5 to 8.6В°F (EPA, n.d.). The risk for additional severe
changes to the Earth s system is projected to increase, as well as the potential harm to the health of
the global population (World Health Organization [WHO], 2009). One way through which this is
expected to occur is through climate change affecting the indoor environment by creating favorable
conditions for the growth of mold, ultimately harming inhabitants respiratory health (IOM, 2011).
According to a report by the Institute of Medicine s Committee on the Effect of Climate Change on
Indoor Air Quality and Public Health, climate change induced alterations to the outdoor
environment are likely to affect the indoor environment, and as a result, the health of its inhabitants
(2011). Climate change has increased the frequency and intensity of heavy rainfall and hurricane
events, leading to more breakdown of buildings, leaks and infiltration of water into the indoor
environment, and flooding (IOM, 2011). The issue of indoor dampness and flooding lies in the
creation of favorable conditions for the growth of mold. Moisture level has been shown to be the
primary factor responsible for indoor mold growth (IOM, 2011). Exposure to mold is associated
with various respiratory symptoms, such as coughing, wheezing, asthma exacerbation, and
shortness of breath in vulnerable individuals (IOM, 2011). This combination of climate change and
the subsequent increase in mold growth and exposure raises concerns for health, particularly the
health of those with existing

March 9, 2010 Freakonmics: A Rougue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything
What they were all responding to was the force of Levitt s underly ing belief: that the modern
world, despite a surfeit of obfuscation, complication, and downright deceit, is not impenetrable, is
not un knowable, and if the right questions are asked is even more in triguing than we think. All it

police going against it, but this actually did not change much, it only made it better for drug
dealer. You might wonder why? So read the book, just kidding. Here it goes, how the drugs Were

what our government does, because we at the moment might think its better but it sometimes can
be worse. This book is an eye opener, making you look at things in a different way changing your
views and perspective of things we thought were impossible or that they had no relationship at all.
He incentives you to formulate the correct questions by questioning everything that you feel
curious about. Just remember what a genius once said, I have no special talent. I am only

Relationship Between Cellular Respiration And Photosynthesis Cellular respiration and photosynthesis are the primary actions that organisms go through in order to retrieve efficiency through nature. Photosynthesis is primarily done by plants and cellular respiration is done by animals in order to gain the energy they require. Photosynthesis is the process through which plant cells convert energy from the sun into chemical vitality. The chemical process of photosynthesisinvolves carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight which are then turned to glucose and oxygen. Cellular respiration consists of the separation of food molecules that results in energy which is then reserved as adenosine triphosphate molecules. During the glycolysis stage glucose is disintegrated, this happens in the cytoplasm of the cell. Once the glucose is broken down two identical compounds are created. Two electrons and a hydrogen ion are removed then attached to adenine forming NADH. Water is then formed using an oxygen and two hydrogen atoms. In this stage two ATP molecules are added. The linking reaction occurs in the mitochondria of the cell. NAD+ and pyruvate come together to form NADH and an acetyl enzyme. The Krebs cycle involves removing hydrogen atoms from the acetyl coenzyme in order to form four molecules of ATP. Carbon then combines with oxygen, creating carbon dioxide. Electrons are unconstrained and move towards the electron transport chain because of NADH. These electrons go through the electron chain until it finds an oxygen atom, where water is formed then released. ATP molecules are created because of the energy released by the electron. Dickinson, a marksman, fired the first shot and struck Jackson in the chest. Despite the wound, Jackson showed no sign of pain and instead aimed precisely and fatally shot Dickinson (Stone 264). Hence, reduced power dissipation is one of the challenges in front of most of designers. However, Power dissipation can be reduced by reducing either supply voltage or total current in the circuit or by reducing the both. I didn t mind visiting my grandpa, but I hated that the fact that I had to travel out of Braedon. A Discussion On Locke s Distinction Between Primary And Secondary Qualities And Berkeley s Opposition Moved by a desire to end skepticism and provide proof for the existence of God, Berkeley defended that the root of all of the former is the belief that there are mind independent matters. Much different than his immaterialist view, John Lockedeveloped a philosophy in advances to an apparently natural form of realism, in where material matters are in existences, but also independently of our minds. As mentioned previously, one of the most known objections to the distinction of primary and secondary qualities was raised by George Berkeley. Differently than Locke, who was a metaphysical dualist, Berkeley was an immaterialist. His philosophy defended that all objects are strictly fragments of our minds: All that exists are minds and their ideas . As Locke defines secondary qualities as ideas in our minds caused by objects in the real world, it follows that central to Berkeley s objection is the idea that secondary qualities are strictly in our minds, using it to argue that primary qualities must also be products of our minds rather than of objects in the world. In his words, That the qualities we perceive are not on the objects: that we must not believe our senses: that we know nothing of the real nature of things, and can never be assured even of their existence: that real colours and sounds are nothing but certain unknown figures and motions:. . . these are the strange notions which . . . embarrass the mind with endless doubts and difficulties. And it is against these. . . I endeavor to vindicate common sense . Berkeley argued that secondary qualities are only ideas in our mind, therefore so are primary qualities. For him, there cannot be ideas that exist independent of a mind, as well as no things existing that are not ideas. Reinforced by Philonous, There are only things perceiving, and things perceived; ... Introduction Car crashes are one of the leading causes of death amongst teens today, and teens 16 18 have the highest car crash rates of any age group. Currently the government is only taking precautionary measures. Even though drivers education and written testing are good, there s more the government can do. For such a major issue the government is doing very little to prevent it. The change begins with education. Once people know about the issue then there s more support for government involvement. The government should change the driving age to 18 because politically it would unify the United States under one age and reduce car crashes. Historical Perspective Ever since the automobile gained its popularity in the 1920 s, car crashes have always been a risk that came with the responsibly of driving. Starting in 1921, states began to lower the driving age to 16 from 18 according to grounded parents.com. In the time of the roaring 20 s, the addition young drivers on the road, increase in alcohol consumption, and increase in number of automobiles purchased led to an age of reckless driving. As shown in a photograph in the library of Congress from a 20s car crash, Two cars are completely destroyed and one is smashed into a tree with two solemn people standing next to it. This photograph shows the opposite of the perception of the roaring 20s. Sarah Ruhl s oddly blunt play, Eurydice, was meant to open up our minds and create an outlook that has never been achieved before. Her intent was to keep us on our toes and read between the lines in order to find the hidden truths in each line. The simplicity of the script was meant to be a little strange and dull, but by doing this Ruhl entered a realm of playwriting that has not been accomplished before. Usually, in the performances we watch we are bombarded with long, complex sentences that leave the audienceconfused. The vocabulary used is always either outdated or too complicated for many people to understand quickly. However, in this place Ruhl took the opposite approach and chose short and simple sentences, leaving more room for interpretation. By making each line somewhat awkward and dull, Ruhl engages the audiences attention in order to make sense of the words. Many factors could have motivated Ruhl to write her play in such fashion. For example, when I was reading the playI connected her style of writing to artists and poets of the 1960 s, like Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison, who had such a beautiful yet simple play on words. Here he is saying that the needs that most people say they have is actually a want .the upper class people do not have to worry about money so more and more things become a necessity to them. This is relatable to the novel the Great Gatsby when Myrtle buys a puppy for the apartment that she is barely in and will not even be able to take care of it. • 33. The For Intellectual Property Law Essay Before college, when I heard about lawyers I only ever thought of one thing, the bar exam, and how awful it must be to prepare and take such a test. Now, moving steadily through the senior year of my undergraduate degree, my aspirations are quite different than what they were before college. With my changing goals, being a lawyer is now a profession that I wish to be a part of in the not too distant future. Specifically, I am aspiring to work in Intellectual PropertyLaw. This form of law deals with protecting tangible and intangible creations of clients. These tangible and intangible creations range from inventions to symbols and often require being an expert in specific fields, such as industries, the arts, or science (Wilson, 2016). In order to assess a potential employee s attributes, a future employer will administer pre employment screenings where the person s knowledge, skills, and abilities will be assessed in order to determine their effectiveness for Intellectual Property Law. In order to perform effectively being a lawyer specializing in Intellectual Property Law, will require that I first graduate with a four year degree. The degree with which one takes is not specific, in fact, law schools admit individuals with degrees from almost every field of study (LearnHowToBecome.org, 2016). The next step is going through law school which typically takes three years. While at law school, studying a curriculum specific to Intellectual Property Law would be beneficial, ... • 34. The Importance Of The Bible In The Bible From a biblical perspective, all laws come from God and are shown to us through His Word. The Bible proves that what the student did was unethical. As a result, the college was ethically acting when they decided to punish the student for wrong doing. The Bible will prove that words are very powerful, the student s actions were unethical, and the college has the ethical right to punish those who breaks the rules. This is not a case of right or wrong it is all about should this student be punished. While the Bibledoes show why the student was acting unethically it will also prove that the college should act and punish the student according to its rules. It is not just a word, it s a weapon that has hurt many people throughout all of history. God, the creator of the world and all that is in it, knows the power of the tongue. James supports this point in chapter 1 of his book, he wrote in verse 19, Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry (NIV). After carefully listening, it is most appropriate to respond slowly, in order to choose the right words. God also tells us in the Old Testamentwhat he thinks of the use of the tongue for evil. Proverbs 6 tells of the seven things that the Lord hates. Two of them pertain to words, ... a lying tongue, and a false witness who pours out lies. (17,19 NIV) Hate is a strong word and when God, the creator of natural laws, says he hates something it must be very serious. Jesus also reiterated this point in the New Testament in Matthew 15, What goes into someone s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them. (11, NIV) Jesus takes the Old Testament law and describes how to live since the law was abolished. Under the law there were specific guidelines on what not to eat in order to avoid uncleanliness (sin), but Jesus says that it is what you say and the words that you use that makes you unclean (sinful). Warnings and cautions are all throughout scripture, using words to hurt others is not an acceptable practice and is considered unethical. It is also important to note words do not come out of ... Advancing technology and E Commerce allow customers to order products from literally anywhere in the world, resulting in a sudden emergence of strong global competition. To compete America needs to be able to provide the same goods faster and more efficient that their competitors. However many improvements in every branch of the American transportation supply chain including infrastructure and logistics need to be made in to achieve this. One practice that is becoming more essential to compete in the growing global market is intermodal freight transportation. Before the history and evolution of intermodal freight transportation can be discussed it must first be defined. One article defines intermodal freight transportation as the use of two or more modes to move a shipment from origin to destination (Dewitt and Clinger, n.d., p. 1). A prime example of intermodal freight transportation in America is transfer of trailers and containers from container ships to either trains or trucks. Goods are then typically transferred to trucks for the final delivery door to door. Intermodal transport is not only trailer and container traffic, but also bulk goods like grain, building products, and coal (Dewitt and Clinger, n.d.). • 40. The Environmental Consequences And Effects Of Climate Change Climate change is a serious environmental issue which influences changes in temperature, humidity, air quality, precipitation, and land surface wetness across the globe (Institute of Medicine [IOM], 2011). Small changes in these factors can snowball into larger and potentially disastrous outcomes in climate and weather. For example, the 1.5В°F increase in the average global temperature during the past century has been accompanied by serious environmental consequences such as an increase in floods, droughts, heavy rainfall, and more frequent and intense heat waves (Environmental Protection Agency [EPA], n.d.). Over the next century, the increase in the Earth s average temperature is predicted to rise by another 0.5 to 8.6В°F (EPA, n.d.). The risk for additional severe changes to the Earth s system is projected to increase, as well as the potential harm to the health of the global population (World Health Organization [WHO], 2009). One way through which this is expected to occur is through climate change affecting the indoor environment by creating favorable conditions for the growth of mold, ultimately harming inhabitants respiratory health (IOM, 2011). According to a report by the Institute of Medicine s Committee on the Effect of Climate Change on Indoor Air Quality and Public Health, climate change induced alterations to the outdoor environment are likely to affect the indoor environment, and as a result, the health of its inhabitants (2011). Climate change has increased the frequency and intensity of heavy rainfall and hurricane events, leading to more breakdown of buildings, leaks and infiltration of water into the indoor environment, and flooding (IOM, 2011). The issue of indoor dampness and flooding lies in the creation of favorable conditions for the growth of mold. Moisture level has been shown to be the primary factor responsible for indoor mold growth (IOM, 2011). Exposure to mold is associated with various respiratory symptoms, such as coughing, wheezing, asthma exacerbation, and shortness of breath in vulnerable individuals (IOM, 2011). This combination of climate change and the subsequent increase in mold growth and exposure raises concerns for health, particularly the health of those with existing ...
