2. “SAMAD”
literally means “wound”
compared to the pain felt by the persona
the persona was not hurt physically but
spiritually/emotionally hurt
The term “SAMAD” is used because it’s a
fact that when a wound is healed
there’s always be a scar left behind
similar to what the persona is feeling.
3. FIRST STANZA
Ang dugo nga mitulo sa
samad sa akon
kasingkasing
Puwang tinta nga milama
sa panit sa akong pagbati,
Ug dugayng’ mapapa
bisan hugasan pa kini
nimo
Sa imong laway
Ug pahiran pa kini
Sa imong palad.
The blood that drops
from the wound of my
heart
Looks like an ink that
stained the skin of my
emotions
And takes a long time to
vanish even if you wash it
With your saliva
And wipe it
With your palm
4. The statement “Ang dugo nga mitulo sa
samad sa akon kasingkasing” means
that persona heart is bleeding and/or
aching. She is broken-hearted.
“Puwang tinta nga milama sa panit sa akong
pagbati”, the persona compared the pain she
felt to an ink/tint. For instance, when an ink
stained your dress, it’s hard for you to erase it
just like what the persona has been through.
5. “Ug dugayng’ mapapa bisan hugasan pa
kini nimo sa imong laway ug pahiran pa
kini sa imong palad”, means that even
the one who hurt and betrayed her gave
effort to restore their love/relationship
and ask for forgiveness, she couldn’t
accept what happened and would never
forget what her loved one did to her.
6. Second STANZA
Dugay miundang ang
pagdugo sa maong samad
Bisa’g gisampongan ko kini
og dahon sa paglaum,
Gihiktan og taas nga
panapton sa panahon,
Ug human tambali sa
mertayolet
Sa kalagot, gitabunan sa
gapas
Ug plaster sa kalimot.
It took a long time to stop
the bleeding of this wound
Even if I covered it with a
leaf of hope
Tied up with a long cloth of
time
And after cured with
merthiolate
Of anger, covered with
cotton
And plaster of
forgetting/forgetfulness.
7. “Dugay miundang ang pagdugo sa maong samad
Bisa’g gisampongan ko kini og dahon sa
paglaum”, means that she’s been hoping for a
long time to heal the pain of her heart and that
someday she could move on and just forget the
past
but
unfortunately,
she
couldn’t.
“Gihiktan og taas nga panapton sa panahon, Ug
human tambali sa mertayolet sa kalagot,
gitabunan sa gapas ug plaster sa kalimot.” means
that many years passed she’s been trying to forget
the pain and her anger to the one who left her.
8. Third STANZA
Karon, ang samad, kay
samad man kini, sa iyaha ra
misira,
Mikugan ug miuwat, apan
ang kangutngot sa imong
Pagbudhi ug pagbiya kanako
motumaw
Sa kabugnaw tunga-tunga sa
kagabhion,
Ug walay sipyat nga
motandog
Sa akong kabukogan.
Now, the wound, because
this is a wound, it closed by
itself
Scabbed and scarred but the
stinging pain of your betrayal
and abandoning me
arise/emerge/appear
In the middle of the cold
night
And will not miss to touch
My bones
9. “Karon, ang samad, kay samad man kini, sa
iyaha ra misira, Mikugan ug miuwat,” means
that the pain she felt healed just like a wound (a
wound naturally heals and leaves a scar) but it
left a scar, a scar that reminds her to her past.
“ apan ang kangutngot sa imong pagbudhi ug
pagbiya kanako motumaw”, - even the pain
healed, there are times perhaps that the sad
memories would just flash in her mind
without intention/unconsciously.
10. “Sa kabugnaw tunga-tunga sa kagabhion, ug
walay sipyat nga motandog sa akong
kabukogan.”- means she could remember
the time when she was betrayed and left
behind clearly (flashback) in the middle of
the cold night.
11. Generalization
The persona was left behind by
her loved one and was really hurt of
what happened. Though many years
had passed and a lot of new things
came into her life, the pain she felt on
that day she was betrayed and left
behind by her loved one is also the
same pain she feels in the present.
12. It is hard for her to move on
and accept the incident, perhaps,
that guy is her first love and/or
she loves him so much indeed.
