We don’t think in terms of words.
The temptation to equate thinking with language is because
words are more palpable than thoughts.
Thinking hard is work….
Undirected our mind wanders and meanders,
jumps around alternating and mixing between reasoning
which adheres to measureable responses and imagining,
which allows unpredictable currents to play around with Data.

4. We are turning ‘98’ soon,
which is very important to us...
and we created something really important for ourselves...
a milestone at every decade...
We believe,
the next decade will be challenging, exciting and innovative...
We also believe,
that we have the courage to succeed as the competition gets exciting,
and that there is no Legacy so rich as Honesty.
Through my work,
I create a culture & thus the History of my family spirit.
If I stand tall,
It is because I stand on the backs of those who came before me.

5. Present Day Activities....
Designing Manufacturing Retail
SALWANS are today one of India’s leading manufacturers of
custom made furniture,
offering a package of goods, services and knowhow to the Hospitality
Industry and Institutional sector,
meeting specific production requirements in accordance with
three sets of regulations :
We speak unpretending,
with a direct mind which has brought our work closer in direct contact
with our society,
which has benefited from our talents and dedication to quality design.
Innovation though Newer Technology.
Stability and Quality Products.
After Sales Service.
6. Learning to make furniture in Polyurethane,
different timbers, different behaviours under different
conditions, different Properties, tensile strength, colour,
price, availability, structural stability...
I learnt it all...
I now have two mentalities...
one that is very analytical and plans ahead
and the other that is creative.
My father didn’t press me in any direction.
He gave me a lot of freedom...
8. Only bold and innovative designs can
win more market shares.
Gaining Recognition
standard to work upon.
Excellent creativity should have a clear
cause and effect.
While cause is the source that stimulates
design inspiration,
‘Effect’ means consumer moving in that direction.
Good details should withstand scrutiny.
Making full use of characteristics of materials
and proportional relation between
human body and materials
will enable the space to be comfortable,
bringing “happiness within”.
from the consumer is the
CREATIVITY is PRODUCTIVITY
9. OUR
HOSPITATLITY SEGMENT
EXPE
RIENCE
Apart from manufacturing a fine piece of work,
we believe,
we created a bench mark in the Hospitality segment...
a game called “Character” -
after all,
it's a matter of evolving.
13. Let the design be Rich, I say !
Rather Revolutionary . . . .
It will trigger our Competitors to excel too
and
raise the standards in the furniture Industry.
17. Colour is a power
which directly influences the soul.
Colour is the keyboard,
the eyes,
the hammer,
the Carpenter is the hand which places,
joining one part to another to cause vibration in the soul.
I believe,
Colour is where our brain and the Universe meet.
19. The idea !!!
It is a totality and it is the moment in the making
of a thing when it potentially
has a name to describe and define the totality. . .
The devil is in the detail. . .
dense, methodical, honest.
23. Throughout the years,
working and dealing with designers from across the globe,
we have earned a lot of respect,
having shown dedication, passion and creativity in everything we produce.
25. Good design is making something intelligible
and memorable.
Great design is making something memorable
and meaningful.
Exceptional design is making something meaningful
and worthwhile.
31. Many things belong to our times and
many things belong to our place
and in a time of transition
it becomes important on how to make a reasonable interaction of TIME and PLACE.
A person who does not experience anything of the modesty and marvels of nature,
does not have to develp his personality.
Inter-relation of function and form...
It has no begining, no ending.
It is immeasureably small, immeasureably vast :
inscrutably mobile, indefinitely serene:
intimately complex, yet simple...
According to their nature, their function,
some forms are definite. some nebulous,
some symetrical, some rhythmical....
They stand for a timeless experience,
A PASSAGE THROUGH TIME.
A Passage through ‘Time’
33. If you look back over my history,
i created something really important for myself at the age of
30, 40, 50...
and i definitely will do the same for the next decade as well...
that’s a milestone of my time.
35. Good design is innovotive
gives a product utility,
is aesthetic,
makes a product easy to understand...
is unobtrusive,
honest,
long lived and consistent to the smallest detail,
protects the environment...
You could say -
A good design is as little design as possilbe.
37. Ingredients of a modern, fair, efficient, accessible and transparent court system.
Good ethical practices,
The structure of Justice,
Judicial and Court operations.
And
we believe, we can provide an ambience that works towards objective of creating an
efficient cost effective environment.
The Role of LAW
40. If we were running at the National Athletics Championship,
we’d be champions today...
Wow !
We are gearing up for the big league !
But Now,
we are moving upto a bigger league...
You could say the International Athletics Championship
41. Creation is my life
and that is why it is easy for me to pour my heart and soul into it.
42.
43. Identification, discovery of recognition of needs.
There is no difference between TIME and any of the 3 dimensions
of space except that our consciousness moves along with it.
There is a considerable difference between
what people think they need and what they actually need.
Collection of Information and assembly of facts,
fairly straight forward…
an exercise in history…
the history of identifiable immediate past.
Analysis of those needs in facts,
putting all the aspects together,
eliminating the irrelevant or unworkable,
thinking out alternative and reaching an understanding of
what the problem really is.
It includes the movement or extended time, when the mind
with the whole problem,
its demands and its means.....
The realization to a point when a lot of thought takes shape
and works or fails....followed by implementation which
involves production and the energy of the other people.
44.
45. I do not believe in “one style of furniture” -
style is just what is on the surface.
What matters is my “personal voice”,
which in turn affects my ethos in constructing details.
46. I believe,
all ideas have a point of origin they ferment and merge from our minds,
half baked or fully formed in a variety of manifestations.
47. I find inspiration in exotic timbers,
their behaviour and characteristics.
African, Brazalian, Canadian and timbers from Burma
are really exciting to work upon.
Feeling their texture, weight, touch and feel,
working aggressively,
with pleasure challenges my life.
Working for clients from across the world
and receiving wonderful feedback is also a great gift.
48. Style may change over the years as we grow,
but it is also anchored in TIME.
My conscious, my ethos on the other hand,
defines the core of who I am
and
how I want to express my work.
49. I am entirety self taught.
Though i have academic training,
it's a passion and craft i have acquired from my elders and carpenters, generations down.
Everything is done in the mind through intense focus on detailing.
I love period furniture and reading old classic books.
I want to bring them back to life,
discover their making process and showcase the present through the past...
I draw most of my inspiration from ‘period’ furniture encyclopedias
and would love to give these furniture characters a new lease of life,
making sure they are not forgotten
on the shelves of some dusty bookshops.
50. Create a sense of gratitude for what you have,
for what is working. . .
for what is wonderful in life.
51. Create,
comfortable and unique atmospheres. . . .
let the design be rich yet functional,
creative yet flexible. . . .
timeless,
equipped for the future.

55. Our Thoughts and Dreams posses no typographic system.
You dream in movies, feelings,
food and Imaginary awareness...
I dream of furniture,
more furniture and exemplary furniture
while in running early in the morning...
Just one foot in front of the other and then the other...
Well,
that’s how my day starts...and ends !!!
56.
57. Vibrant Colours that frame each volume,
in a more contemporary vision of the classic theme.
63. The Human being is the centre of today’s landscape.
A modern working space
can be efficient
if it offers an integral working solution.

64. Aluminum Structure elm wood and leather top, elm covered flap and legs covered with leather.
65.
66. The distance between getting an idea
and putting it down
is longer than the length from your head to your hand.
The idea of the nest in the bird’s mind !!
Where does it come from ?
67. As my work is well,
kind of designing spaces and manufacturing,
I get calls from clients who know i am the right person for the job.
Its boring when there is not enough variety in my work,
so we tend to work on a number of different projects happening at once...
that is the challenge,
to go beyond a ‘status quo’ situation.

74. The real world teaches you the ‘basics’ again and again...
You learn more about yourself.
This may sound weird, but its like a therapy session.
And I love this situation.
And once I learnt the basics over the years by trial and error,
I developed my own distinct way of colouring the spaces with my
work from one day to the next.
I only learnt when I made mistakes.
It is a part of my life.
