Career History
2014 - Present SEN English Teacher Randstad Education
Shortly after being at Medical Education Service they extended my short term contract into a long term teaching
position due to my exceptional performance. I have received glowing feedback on my natural ability to build a
rapport with my pupils, leading to increased attendance, engagement and raised attainment levels. I have high
expectations of pupils’ progress, setting realistic targets which I monitor and review. Safeguarding and promoting
pupils welfare is a key aspect of my role; I identify and report concerns and provide support to meet pupils needs.
I am responsible for teaching the Key Stage 3 and 4 curriculums, preparing pupils for the GCSE English
specifications. My key duties and achievements in this role are as follows;
• Teaching learners with mild to moderate learning difficulties, e.g. dyslexia, physical disabilities, hearing
or visual impairment, emotional or behavioral problems and EAL.
• Utilising innovative teaching methods to engage young learners.
• Identifying pupils who may require additional provision through a variety of assessment methods.
• Differentiating to enable access and inclusion to the curriculum.
• Putting strategies in place to challenge gifted and talented pupils.
• Communicating and liaising effectively with pupils, parents, educational psychologist, support staff, and
developing partnerships with external agencies.
2014 – 2014 IT Teacher Bolton College
In this post I supported learners’ future economic prosperity and promoted social and educational inclusion. I did
this by delivering tailor made IT training sessions targeting the unemployed. I incorporated learning and
assessment which would help secure a future of sustained employment. I taught groups of mixed ability adult
learners who were 18 years+, using interactive teaching techniques to motivate learners, preparing them for
employment and enabling them to succeed and progress. Using computer assisted educational resources and
visual aide to consolidate their learning. I created a professionally stimulating and supportive working
environment catering for the learning needs of disadvantaged and hard to reach groups.
• Management of learning including the design and delivery of high quality teaching and learning to ensure
students achieve their maximum potential together with learning outcomes.
• Promoting innovation in curriculum design and development within my area
• Organising and supervising work placements and undertaking work based assessment.
• Ensuring both the quality of my teaching and provision are of a high standard by using College quality
systems to monitor track and manage this.
• Contributing to the wider work of the curriculum / faculty team.
• Providing Sector-based work Academies, delivering pre-employment training
• Systematic planning and organising with a flexible approach.
2. Key Skills and Achievements
• Exceptional communication skills at all levels
• Excellent organisational skills
• Hard working and Committed
• Friendly & approachable personality
• Involved in turning around difficult classroom situations i.e. walkouts, disruptive behaviour.
• Helping under-performing students to achieve their full potential; one-to-ones, adapted resources.
• Responding effectively to the demands of a culturally diverse student population; teaching 3 different
GCSE exam board specifications, anticipating and meeting individual needs.
• Innovative methods of teaching which have contributed to improved student performance; getting pupils
to draw what they see in their minds eye as I read a poem, repeated with audio and music to bring the
poem alive.
