Wrap one end around the bolt head
tightly.
Start twisting the wire clockwise
immediately upon exiting the bolt hole
Leave no gaps
Make two twists (clockwise)
Run the wires approximately where they need to
go. Then attach pliers and lock
Continue twisting clockwise 8-10 twists per inch
Do not over twist
Feed one wire through other bolt hole
Make sure safety wire has a tendency to pull the
bolts tighter
Wrap one wire around the bolt head
Go under the other wire
Make two tight twists counter clockwise by hand
Attach safety wire pliers and lock
Continue twisting counter clockwise
until about ¼ to ½ inch.
Cut wire
Fold end to make a “pig tail”
Congratulations!
You just made a proper safety
Always wear safety glasses while using safety wire
