MO HIT Assistance Center Rural Hospital presentation

2. Setting an Organizational Agenda
LVHN has improved patient access and experience using bundled solutions. They analyzed patient survey results to identify solution bundles to implement countermeasures. This included standardizing provider templates, promoting the patient portal, utilizing clinical intelligence and optimizing the EMR. As a result, patient experience scores increased from 87.2% to 91% nationally, completed appointments increased 13%, and 111,001 patients were activated on the patient portal, the fastest rate of any Epic client. LVHN continues using a plan-do-study-act cycle to implement changes, measure metrics, and report progress.
Team 7 Group Project: Evaluation of CIS
A clinical information system (CIS) integrates various technologies to provide a centralized repository of patient information to help clinicians make decisions. Key players in choosing, implementing, and revising a CIS include nurses, physicians, pharmacists, hospital administration, support staff, IT personnel, patients/families, and other health professionals. An effective CIS contains components like the electronic health record, order entry, decision support, and communication tools to safely and efficiently deliver patient care.
5. Decisions by Analytics
This document discusses using analytics and metrics to improve patient access and decision making. From the SWOT analysis, the overall strategy that Barbara should recommend is a system that is capable of meeting the needs of the healthcare facility effectively and efficiently. The strategy focuses on having systems that are fast to allow for easy processing of information and offer quality support to the patients. It should also have a high level of functionality to allow for the normalizing, analyzing, access and the storage of the entire patient's data and saving it for easy retrieving in the future. The system should also be user-friendly so that the professionals and the staff using it can be in a position to easily maneuver in the process of care delivery. The other component of the system that the company should consider is that it should have a wide range of features to enhance maximum utilization and the ease of data access by the patients and physicians. Finally, the medical professionals should also be trained on how to use the system upon implementation.

One of the ways in which the selection of eClinical works EHR will contribute to strategy is that it is the ability to maintain highly organized data; it’s fast and also has amazing features. The EHR system adapted for use in the organization should be in a position to increase effectiveness, efficiency, achieve quality in the delivery of care and also enhance the patient’s outcomes (Sinha et al., 2013). Due to its organization, the system will make it easy for the health care professionals to retrieve the patients’ information while at the same time ensuring security to prevent access of the patient information by unauthorized persons. The e-Clinical works will also contribute to the strategy because it offers low and affordable prices and has low maintenance costs and this aids in the reduction of the costs that the healthcare facilities incur in the maintenance. The other way in which the system will contribute to the strategy is that it has a wide scope of features which make it easy for the patients and the physicians to login into their portals and interact with each other.

Estas diretrizes consolidadas apresentam algumas recomendações novas e já bem fundamentadas sobre cuidados pós-natais de rotina para mulheres e neonatos que recebem cuidados no pós-parto em unidades de saúde ou na comunidade, independentemente dos recursos disponíveis.
É fornecido um conjunto abrangente de recomendações para cuidados durante o período puerperal, com ênfase nos cuidados essenciais que todas as mulheres e recém-nascidos devem receber, e com a devida atenção à qualidade dos cuidados; isto é, a entrega e a experiência do cuidado recebido. Estas diretrizes atualizam e ampliam as recomendações da OMS de 2014 sobre cuidados pós-natais da mãe e do recém-nascido e complementam as atuais diretrizes da OMS sobre a gestão de complicações pós-natais.
O estabelecimento da amamentação e o manejo das principais intercorrências é contemplada.

Cell Therapy Expansion and Challenges in Autoimmune Disease
There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.

- These guiding principles were adopted for application prioritization, and software and technology acquisition: The IS strategic direction is guided by the long-tem vision and strategic plan for the partners. Common system solutions will be implemented for like functions across departments and organizations where the system can meet 70% - 80% of individual department and organization requirements. This will provide operational integration and achieve cost-effective support for community-wide processes. Investments in new systems and technologies must demonstrate a positive return on investment based on the business and clinical benefits associated with process improvements supported by the technology. Existing investments in systems will be preserved and expanded wherever appropriate. Priority will be given to those systems that best support overall community needs . To achieve integration, CMH will look to a single core vendor whenever possible , but will select other vendors for niche systems where benefits outweigh lack of integration. Improvement in provider productivity as well as reducing the “hassle” factor for physicians will be considered key requirements for system selection. System acquisition will be driven by weighted criteria including functionality, ease of use, technology and support requirements and adherence to standards. CMH will adopt systems and technologies that are on the upward curve of their system lifecycle, will be an early adopter of proven technologies, will avoid alpha/beta relationships and custom development particularly for mission critical functions. System acquisition will follow a formal process including needs assessment, requirements definition and vendor due diligence. Information Services will develop the infrastructure to support known upcoming strategic projects with capability for quick incremental growth.
