Weaknesses of Coca-Cola product life cycle
The product life cycle refers to the life of a product in the market on the bases of its commercial or business costs as well as sales measures. Product lifecycle goes through many phases, requires a lot of tools, processes, and skills, and professional discipline (De & Meyer, 2010). Every product goes through various phases that include introduction, growth, maturity, and decline.
Coca-Cola is in the maturity stage of product life cycle and has had a very long product cycle. Since its introduction to the market in 1886, it has always been at the maturity stage. At this stage, a product is very profitable as compared to when it is in other stages. Due to the fact that the product yields a lot of profit, a company does not have to spend a lot of money on advertising.
One of the weaknesses of this product life cycle is a decline in sales. Coca-Cola Company has been experiencing a decline in the sale of soda especially in the United States of America. Even though the sale of soda might have decreased in one market, it does not mean that they have reduced in other markets.in the case of Coca-Cola maintaining high sales in America is important since it is their main market.
Another weakness of this product life cycle is competition from other companies. Many companies aspire and work towards ensuring that their products reach the maturity stage in order for them to gain a lot of profits. This makes new companies to get into the maturity stage and they begin to compete with the existing companies. Coca-Cola has experienced competition from Pepsi which has a huge customer base and is in the maturity stage. This kind of competition makes Coca-Cola to experience reduced sales.
Strategies that the organization needs in order to strengthen the operation
In order for Coca-Cola Company to strengthen its operations, it must ensure that it has the right team. For a company to be able to remain ahead of its competitors, it must have the right team. The team must be willing and ready to commit their time and their ideas to the company. The companies in the market have become very creative and have embraced new ideas and technology that have enabled them to attract the attention of customers. Coca-Cola should also embrace new ideas and ensure that it has the right team.
The second strategy that the company needs to strengthen the operation is to come up with the right advertisement. Pepsi has been known due to its advertisement that many people always look forward to. This has made them to gain more customers and have a competitive advantage.
The third strategy is creating new product designs. Since the product has been in the mark.

Strategic Planning
Planning is very essential for every company. Planning is very essential since it helps a company to see the risks and the challenges that a certain project may face. Planning also helps an organization to allocate resources effectively which will lead to the success of that specific project and also the growth and development of the whole company. Strategic planning is therefore highly needed when it comes to the development of a new line of production. The coca cola company will have to ensure that it has planned for its product development. There are many areas which are required when it comes to product development. The company should, therefore, be very careful, and it should insist that the strategic planning is of good quality. There are various objectives of planning, and these should be listed to ensure that the project runs smoothly (Annacchino, 2007). The strategic plan paper is therefore very critical. It also considers the communication of the plans about the project.
Potential alternatives to the issues and opportunities identified in the SWOT Analysis
There are various issues and opportunities which have been identified in the SWOT analysis which was carried out on the new product to be developed by the company. There are various alternatives which can be considered and which will ensure that the new product will be successful in the market. One of the issues which will be facing the coca cola's new product is the fact that there is usually weak coordination between government agencies. The company will have to follow the government directives, and it will have to obtain the necessary licensing. If there is weak coordination, the duration of obtaining these licenses may be long, and it will affect the business. The alternative to this is to ensure that the company has started the process of obtaining these things will be available in time. The company should also ensure that it has created the necessary connections in the various governments which will help the project development process move smoothly.
Another alternative for the new product is to ensure that it has exploited the new markets which are emerging in the developing economies. This will create a large customer base for the company and the product. The company should also ensure that they have been able to utilize the skills and the technology they have to make the new products. This will be an alternative for the increased cost of production which will be introduced by the new product. The company has the best technology and also qualified personnel hence it would be easier for the new product. The company should also increase corporate social responsibility for the new product's promotion. This will help to sensitize the public about the new product which will lead to the success of the new product. There are therefore many alternatives for the co ...

The purpose of this assignment is to discuss the standard operating procedures that are necessary for proper inventory control. In order to achieve proper inventory in the company, it is important to have the right operation procedures. The assignment will hence discuss these procedures in line with the inventory management for the company. There will be a detailed analysis of each procedure that will give an insight of effective control of inventory to ensure that there are no losses on company’s inventory. In the assignment, there will a detailed analysis of the following procedures as they apply to inventory control in the company; cycle counts, ABC items, damages, overages and shortages. These procedures shall remain the focus of the assignment as they help in achieving the success of effective inventory control. In this case, the inventory is an important factor of production in the company.
Cycle count is a very important procedure that can help to achieve the success of the company in terms of inventory control. It refers to the time interval of placing a new order of inventory. The company should place a new order within reasonable intervals. The time interval should be well set to ensure that there are no delays in production of goods. If there is a poor timing during placing an order, there are chances that there will be a delay in the production of goods in the company (Parkin, 2014). The delay is likely to occur since the suppliers take time in preparing the order. The delivery might be made late when the entire inventory is over hence creating delay in production. The company might end up losing some sales as some customers will seek for alternative places to buy the missing products. In this scenario, the company should ensure that there is a proper cycle count to avoid any problem that might lead to delays in production.
The other standard operating procedure is ABC items. In this procedure, a company should always make a list of inventory and prioritize each item based on its importance to the production of goods. The company should hence order for the inventory of high priority first. Then, the other inventory items should be ordered later on. This is important as it will ensure that the most important inventory items are received first (Parkin, 2014). The production of goods can hence continue once the important inventory items are received. The other units can be received later and hence there is no effect on production. It is important for the production manager to have the list first and ensure that there are no delays in production. It is important as there will be adequate inventory all the time hence success in production of goods.

Introduction
This paper will focus on the Pepsi Company. The main point of the paper will be an analysis of the supply chain and the elements which need to be improved in the supply chain to ensure the success of the organization. The essay contains the subheadings of the major points of discussion which include the overview of the company under consideration. The manufacturing and procurement department is the primary focus of the analysis since it is significantly involved with supply chain management.
Strategic overview
The company under analysis will be the PepsiCo, Inc. It is a food, beverage and snack corporation and has its headquarters in New York. The organization has interests in marketing, manufacturing and the distribution of the snack foods which are grain based and beverages among other products. The company was formed in 1965 whereby it started as a merger of Frito–Lay Inc. and Pepsi –Cola Company. The current products of this company include energy drinks, soft drinks, cereal, snacks, rice snacks, breakfast bars, side dishes, bottled water and sports nutrition. The company has various brands. Some of the brands include Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Tropicana, Sobe, Sabre, Starbucks, Fritos and Pepsi Max amongst others. Each brand has been manufactured to target a particular group of people (Company. & Company., 2012).
The target market of the Pepsi Company is everyone. It aims at making sure that its product reaches everyone in the world wherever they are. It has however laid its focus in targeting the youth who have not made their decisions between choosing its brand, or that of Coke. One can tell this from the images that they place on most of their brands. The source of competitive differentiation of Pepsi is distribution. It is clear that in most of the restaurants it is more stocked as compared to its rival Coca-Cola. PepsiCo is the second largest in the beverage and food industry with Coca-Cola its leading rival. The mission statement of the company is a performance with purpose whereby it is closely related to the strategic decision which the company takes. The changing market structure has always resulted in a change of the organization chart (Gonzalez, 2011).
The organization chart has three key features. The features include global hierarchy, functional corporate groups and offices and market decisions. Market divisions are the most prominent organizational structure. It is based on two variables which include geography and business. Regarding the geography group, Pepsi Company has units for Europe, Americans, and other regions. The market units in the organizational structure include Frito–Lay, Quaker foods, Pepsi Europe, PepsiCo Asia, PepsiCo Americas Beverages and Latin America Foods. The mission of Knockout Shoes is to be recognized as a socially responsible company providing high quality shoes for the North American and Latin American markets.
The overall strategy of Knockout Shoes is focused differentiation while addressing socially responsible business practices. The decisions by operations, financing, and marketing support this strategy because we have limited all production to North America and Latin American. We have limited sales to Wholesale and Internet sales in North America and Latin America. We have purchased the contracts of Ophrah Beyonse, Tiger Green, and Jose Montana. We have engaged in green manufacturing practices. We have limited the number of models sold. We use high-quality materials in the manufacturing process. We have provided sufficient capital to sustain operations. We have provided a return to stockholders and to society.
VPO
We produce all of our shoes in North America and Latin America because this allows for better control over the manufacturing process and reduces the cost to ship shoes to the two target markets. We limited our models to 50 to maintain better control over the manufacturing process and to limit the costs for styling. We have set our superior material usage rate at 80% to ensure a high quality shoe. We use green materials. We have set the enhanced styling features to $20,000 per model to support the production of a shoe that is perceived to be high quality. We have invested in energy efficiency. We use recycled boxing materials. Our entire workforce has received ethics training, and we have a diverse workforce. We spend $2,000 per worker on Best Practices Training.
VPM
We have set our wholesale price at $60 and our internet price at $85 because the shoes are high quality shoes. We sell only in North America and Latin America. We do not allow internet sales outside of North America and Latin America. We have contracted with Ophrah Beyonse, Tiger Green, and Jose Montana because these three have the best celebrity appeal scores for our two markets. We do not provide for private label production because it does not support our strategy of focused differentiation. We have set our advertising budget at $10,000,000. We offer a $3 rebate as part of our advertising strategy. We are able to provide delivery within 1 week because most of our shoes are manufactured in the country in which they are sold. We have few shipments between North America and Latin America.
VPF
We have issued 100,000 shares of stock and secured a 10-year bank loan of $8,000,000 to finance operations. We declared a dividend of $.15 to provide a return to stockholders. We have plans to ensure that ROE is at least 15% per year. We have plans to ensure that our cost of pairs sold is no more than 53%. We have plans to ensure that our default risk is no more than Medium. We have committed 3% of pre-tax profits for charitable contributions.

At the moment, various organizations are satisfied with the services that they give their customers at the current moment. There are other companies, however, that are now expanding their services by opening up branches and coming up with new products in order to offer more products and services to a large number of customers. To achieve this, these firms are trying to come up with creative ideas that can benefit the organization more, cost-effective, and more productive so as to meet the needs of the consumers (Gorevaya, & Khayrullina, 2015). Walmart is an example of a firm that can develop another division of the company which would implement another and creative idea to give a variety of products and services to the potential customers. This division would meet all the other clients' needs unlike the same products offered by the competitors. Through this division, a plan of action that the enterprise can take to be successful in the future days is shown. The vision, mission, and how the new division will work is in line with the organization's objectives and vision. The new division also follows the techniques of working as outlined in the vision, mission, and the features of the firm. The directing standards and the characteristics of the company will be given as part of the culture, social duty, and morals.
Since the cost of working as a whole firm has been rising and also the salaries given to each employee has been increasing as per the law, many organizations including Walmart are trying to create the divisions of these institutions. Through these divisions, the firms can be in a position to raise their values and they can easily strive towards meeting the vision and the set goals of the company. For the past several years, Walmart has been intending to grow the fast food business (Areal, McIntosh, & Sheppy, 2016). Varieties of fast food products will be offered in this division including hamburger, pizza, sandwiches, and others. All these will be served at different Walmart stores found in different regions of the world. The unique aspect of the Walmart fast food store is that a robot will be involved in the creation of nourishment. A mechanical director will also help in saving the organization a lot of expenses. The use of a mechanical director, HyperActive Bob, in the minimization of costs has been experimented within the organization and has proved to be effective. The new and the already existing design have to be consistent with the company's statement of purpose.
This new division will be of great help to the organization as it will help in providing high-quality and affordable. The mechanical director will also be able to run the sustenance creation in the fast food stores and.

Business development is based on diverse factors, which create a strong commitment where it is possible to understand essential elements, which can help in improving organizational development. The reason why companies engage in business is to make profits. If an organization is unable to generate revenues, it means that there is need to evaluate company performance and its operations in coming up with a better decision that can be positively engaged in improving company development (Oshri et al., 2015). WC Progressive Products have been highly involved in the industry and has been able to remain competitive across different harsh economic times. The need to improve the company operations should be considered as a priority where there is a strong focus on the underlying concepts, which define a highly successful business context. Comment by Dr. B.: This is NOT correct reference citation. You MUST first name ALL the authors, the first time you use the reference source….THEN you may use et al.,
The available options that the company is considering are essential in developing a strong emphasis on fundamental changes based on the company development. Outsourcing is a key global business strategy where a company decides to subcontract part of the company value chain to other companies who specialize in the same activity. The hired company, in this case, has an agreement with the primary company for delivery of specified services or materials to help in improving the company performance as well as the distribution of specialized quality products to its customers (Tate et al., 2014). Comment by Dr. B. [2]: See comment above. Also, ending a paragraph on a reference citation is a “cover your ____” activity. What you are implying, by doing so is that you paraphrased all the information in the entire paragraph --- highly unlikely. In the future cite your sources correctly, and do not use this format again.
Industrialized economies tend to have a higher cost of production that makes it very difficult for companies to achieve their set objectives while limiting its production line to the rules and regulations within the country. Business organizations always put into consideration necessary measures where they focus on ensuring that they can maximize on profit margins. It is essential to understand the risks and benefits involved in the company embracing outsourcing and remaining.

Many of my friends from industry have asked for my opinion on the economic crisis and its impact on business. My answer to them is that the real problem is that companies simply do not internalise the proper actions to take in order to respond to such a situation.
And rarely is it more critical than in retail business strategy, and the far-reaching implications surrounding the phenomena often known as ‘wallet share’ or ‘share of wallet’.
‘Share of wallet’ is in essence an holistic term capturing the aspect of a retailer’s desire to understand and manage consumer spending, how much they have, and how frequent and recent this occurs. This clearly introduces the aspects of service, proposition, customer loyalty, and internal & external change as strategy components for serious consideration by the senior management team.
This paper seeks to explore these aspects of a Retail business strategy, giving insight and advice for a stronger business strategy in ‘Changing Times’.

1) Allegory suggests that enlightenment or education work the same way whereby they expand the growth of ideas. Educational institutions limit the knowledge given to students despite tutor sharing the educational knowledge to their respective students. Nevertheless, the allegory also suggests people should become opportunistic by taking advantage of any favorable opportunity. Enlightenment or education is sharing of knowledge because individuals learn from you and vice versa. Finally, knowing the reality is very important in our life. Therefore, knowledge acquired from enlightenment or education is powerful and by stripping it from individuals cute their view of the reality.Furthermore, allegory deems education to be a masterpiece of brain expansion where the generation of ideas and skill sets. In this case representation of knowledge has been symbolized by “Light” to mean that an enlightened individual who is educated is enlightened. In this summary, we can say that human in their superiority of knowledge, idea, and information they are free to be free thinkers without getting stuck in anything. This builds the strength and analogy of “enlightenment.”

2) Being a philosopher, Socrates believed that philosophy was the most important above everything else. His examining and thinking about life spilled out into the lives of others, and he believed that they would all die someday. Believing that philosophy is the love of wisdom, Socrates stated that a life without a philosophy that is ‘unexamined’ life is not worthy of living. Examining one’s life is valuable because it enables you to know the goodness, virtues, justice, truth, and beauty of an individual to name but a few. Nevertheless, examining one’s life enables one to discuss goodness and failing to examine one’s life is the best thing someone can do according to Socrates because without this kind of examination life is not worth living.

3) I personally do not think that being self-interested is a bad thing. In fact, being self-interested is a good thing. Most of the time, self- interested people are termed to be selfish. But this does not apply every time. Self-interest leads one to be more creative and develops the eagerness and thirst to learn more about oneself and others. Self- interest generates knowledge and ideas. As well, it is the key to a successful life. If a person can stay happy and satisfied with themselves, then they do not seek others in life. Self-interested people always tend to be happy as they think for their good first and prioritize their own happiness. So, being self-interested is never a bad thing.

Sadder and Less Accurate? False Memory for Negative
Material in Depression
Jutta Joormann
University of Miami
Bethany A. Teachman
University of Virginia
Ian H. Gotlib
Stanford University
Previous research has demonstrated that induced sad mood is associated with increased accuracy of recall
in certain memory tasks; the effects of clinical depression, however, are likely to be quite different. The
authors used the Deese-Roediger-McDermott paradigm to examine the impact of clinical depression on
erroneous recall of neutral and/or emotional stimuli. Specifically, they presented Deese-Roediger-
McDermott lists that were highly associated with negative, neutral, or positive lures and compared
participants diagnosed with major depressive disorder and nondepressed control participants on the
accuracy of their recall of presented material and their false recall of never-presented lures. Compared
with control participants, major depressive disorder participants recalled fewer words that had been
previously presented but were more likely to falsely recall negative lures; there were no differences
between major depressive disorder and control participants in false recall of positive or neutral lures.
These findings indicate that depression is associated with false memories of negative material.
Keywords: depression, memory, cognition, emotion, bias
Mood states and emotions affect memory in various ways.
Mood-induction studies, for example, have demonstrated that neg-
ative affect is associated with increased accuracy in retrieval
(Storbeck & Clore, 2005), whereas positive mood states are asso-
ciated with decreases in processing capacity (Mackie & Worth,
1989) and reduced processing motivation (Wegener & Petty,
1994), resulting in less accurate recall (Ruder & Bless, 2003). At
the same time, research on mood-congruency suggests that affec-
tive states increase the accessibility of mood-congruent material
(Bower, 1981). Understanding this complex interaction of mood
and memory is important, given its critical role in emotion regu-
lation and emotional disorders.
Individual differences in mood-congruent memory and in the
accessibility of mood-incongruent material have been proposed to
predict the ability to regulate negative mood states (Joormann &
Siemer, 2004; Joormann, Siemer, & Gotlib, 2007). Indeed, depres-
sion, by definition a disorder characterized by difficulty regulating
negative mood states, is associated with two distinct but related
memory impairments.
First, difficulties in cognitive control (i.e., focal attention to
relevant stimuli and inhibition of irrelevant material) result in
memory deficits for nonemotional material (Burt, Zembar, &
Niederehe, 1995; Hertel, 2004). In a series of studies, Hertel and
her collaborators (Hertel, 1998; Hertel & Rude, 1991) presented
evidence indicating that depression-related impairments are not
observed in all components of memory but are found primarily in
free-recall tasks and in other unstructu.

The characteristics of the functional corporate groups and offices entail to the core f ...

CEO

The next groups are human resources, accounting, and general management. These groups are responsible for hiring, paying, training, and managing our staff of elite housekeepers. The human resources department will ensure that employee morale is high, that employment laws are being enforced in each area, and that ethical practices are explained and implemented. The accounting department will ensure that all financial reports, bookkeeping, and payroll are being maintained with a standard of excellence and consistency. The general management department will oversee employee training and scheduling, as well as resolving customer service issues. The operations department wraps up our company, with a strong team of dispatchers and housekeepers. McKinsey 7-S Assessment/Model
Five-Star Cleaning Company’s organizational design can be examined with the use of the McKinsey 7s model. In this respect, the company has made progress in its strategy, structure, systems, shared values, style, staff, and skills. The company has effectively aligned these key areas in a way that enables it to realize its objectives (Fleisher & Bensoussan, 2015). First, at its strategic level, the organization aims at dominating the national local market through penetration. In as much as it has already established itself, it seeks to distribute itself in both rural and urban concerns of the United States and in the online platform in order to enjoy dominance. The business aims at ensuring that its services dominate the industry and get the first priority from clients who prefer quality and convenience.

The International Air Transport Association defines a Safety Management System (SMS) as being a systematic approach to managing safety, including the necessary organizational structures, accountabilities, policies and procedures.
Another definition of an SMS is a businesslike approach to safety. It is a systematic, explicit and comprehensive process for managing safety risks. As with all management systems, a safety management system provides for goal setting, planning, and measuring performance.

Safety Management System
Definitions of a Safety management system
An SMS provides a systematic way to identify hazards and control risks while maintaining assurance that these risk controls are effective.
Setting up your safety management system
You can read our setting up your SMS and our SMS for aviation guide which is a resource kit that will help you prepare and implement your plan. It'll need to include a detailed guide about how you're going to set up your SMS. Your safety management system will grow and improve and will be a living document.
How do I educate my staff?
You and your staff will need safety management system training and to review online resources. It can be useful to collect documents and resources for an SMS library within your organization.

Safety Management System
An SMS is not “rocket science” or “magic.”
There are three imperatives for adopting a safety management system for a business – these are ethical, legal and financial. You can also educate your staff through internal and external safety training and communication. This could include providing SMS information in your organization's safety bulletins, newsletters and or through promotional posters or by holding meetings and workshops with external providers.

Running head: LITERATURE REVIEW ON HYBRID CLASSES
LITERATURE REVIEW ON HYBRID CLASSES
Literature review on hybrid classes
Author’s name
Institutions affiliations
Hybrid classes and learning can be described as a combination of both faces to face learning that may at times involve lectures and online learning which is not always a must. Lectures may at times be considered, but that is not always the case for it to be a hybrid form of learning. The kind of hybrid learning and classes can be classified into two different categories. Those include the replacement, supplemental learning, the emporium and the buffet kind of classification. The types are divided depending on face to face classes interacts with the online constituents of the course in question. For the case of replacement, mostly the one on one kind of learning with the tutors and the lectures are completely replaced or rather substituted fully or partly by the online classes. This then reduces the time spent on attending the classes. In such a case, students are usually required to concentrate more on watching videos on YouTube and tackling assignments assigned to them. Hybrid learning is a platform that will help on saving the time spent by the students when they run from one class to another so as to have an encounter with the lecturers. It is, therefore, more revolutionized compared to the normal traditional forms of learning. The subsequent paragraphs in this essay will outline a literature review from various sources for the research on how the hybrid learning is more important compared to the traditional learning methods and to know why most of the universities use this type .
Literature review
Several studies and research has been conducted on the reasons as to why the hybrid form of learning and the hybrid classes are more important or more uses so they are taking over the traditional forms of learning which include face to face learning and attending the lectures. Several controversies have arisen from different authors on outlining some of the reasons as to why hybrid learning should be promoted. Renowned scholars have published articles and journals as well as books on the same. Most people and students have been left in a dilemma on whatever means to use so as to acquire the knowledge they require. The many advantages that have come with the hybrid kind of learning have made many universities and learning institutions across the globe to adopt the new mode of learning that is hybrid classes and sort to drop or rather do away with the online classes or the face to face classes. So many factors have been found to contribute to that decision by the management team of most .

DUE: 6/6/19

Instructions: As before, these problems give you an opportunity to use the concepts and
techniques we’ve learned in class to analyze interesting social systems. This time I’ve
leaned more toward interesting conceptual puzzles rather than brute calculations. I
encourage you to work in groups (of no more than 5), but each student should prepare
her or his own solutions, along with a note at the top of your assignment crediting
other members of the working group. Please make sure you truly understand the
solution to a problem, and please: DO NOT COPY SOLUTIONS. This includes copying
solutions from earlier years. We will figure it out. Do not go to the testbank at SAC, do
not go to Course Hero, and do not get solutions from friends who have taken the course
in the past. This will impede your learning, it will not prepare you for the final exam, and
I will treat it as academic misconduct.
In general, you should show your work rather than just writing down a number. This
makes it easier for us to see that you know what you are doing, and easier for you to
see when you’ve made a trivial mistake. On the other hand, don’t just throw everything
vaguely relevant at the wall and hope that something sticks. You need to be judicious!
Please turn in a hard copy of your solutions to the TA at the beginning of class. Your
submission should be neat and legible: you can type it up or write it out by hand, but we
aren’t going to engage in decipherment here. Please follow the breakdown of questions
into parts (a, b, c, etc.) to make these easier for your TA to grade.

Q2. You are in charge of marketing a new smartphone app, SeeFood, that allows

following dynamical rule:
If the company spends $50,000 on marketing, it can get a fraction z’ of the population to

company spends $300,000 on marketing, it can get a fraction z’’ of the population to
Adopt at time 0 (mostly by giving the App away). This fraction z’’ is close to D. You think
that the company should spend the $300,000, as it will get you close to total adoption.
Your intern argues that you should spend $50,000 on marketing instead. If adoption
settles at fraction A, your company will make $0 in revenue; at fraction B, your company
will make $100,000 in revenue; at fraction C, your company will make $200,000 in
revenue; and at fraction D, your company will make $500,000 in revenue.
a) Explain why you are wrong, by showing that you will actually lose money
if you spend the $300,000 to get a fraction z’’ of the population to Adopt.

Sadly today police are not often viewed in the best light. Not all officers are bad or are guilty of misconduct. However many people think a few bad ones spoil them all and while it is not true perception is everything. When officers are apart of misconduct, bad behaviors and other negative incidents this ruins community trust and support. Early intervention systems have surfaced as a useful tool in managing the risk of misconduct by police. As stated earlier its only a small amount of officers that are responsible for citizen complaints. These complaints are comprised of use of physical force and other infractions. (2020) When indicators are monitored or risk related outputs by officers so to speak.
Administrators can then recognize or identify actions of officers that are symptomatic or are problomatic indicators of possible police misconduct. Research shows that typically misconduct is skewed across a small group of officers at any given time. Officers who participate in misconduct aften have similar histories concerning age and pre-employment. It is found these things build over time they do not just happen out of the blue. This makes it very important to identify problems lying in wait. Such things as officer bias, not understanding policies, supervisors with poor supervisory skills any problems that could trigger or add to future events unfolding. It is prdent to look for any traits, actions or performance issues that raise speculation. These are the factors that snowball over time and lead to ubfortunate events. (2020

Global leadership success through emotional and
cultural intelligences

Abstract Culturally attuned and emotionally sensitive global leaders need to be
developed: leaders who can respond to the particular foreign environments of
different countries and different interpersonal work situations. Two emerging
constructs are especially relevant to the development of successful global leaders:
cultural and emotional intelligences. When considered under the traditional view of
intelligence as measured by IQ, cultural, and emotional intelligences provide a
framework for better understanding cross-cultural leadership and help clarify
possible adaptations that need to be implemented in leadership development
programs of multinational firms. This article posits that emotional intelligence (EQ),
analytical intelligence (IQ), and leadership behaviors are moderated by cultural
intelligence (CQ) in the formation of global leadership success.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Weaknesses of Coca-Cola product life cycle
The product life cycle refers to the life of a product in the
market on the bases of its commercial or business costs as well
as sales measures. Product lifecycle goes through many phases,
requires a lot of tools, processes, and skills, and professional
discipline (De & Meyer, 2010). Every product goes through
various phases that include introduction, growth, maturity, and
decline.
Coca-Cola is in the maturity stage of product life cycle and has
had a very long product cycle. Since its introduction to the
market in 1886, it has always been at the maturity stage. At this
stage, a product is very profitable as compared to when it is in
other stages. Due to the fact that the product yields a lot of
2. profit, a company does not have to spend a lot of money on
advertising.
One of the weaknesses of this product life cycle is a decline in
sales. Coca-Cola Company has been experiencing a decline in
the sale of soda especially in the United States of America.
Even though the sale of soda might have decreased in one
market, it does not mean that they have reduced in other
markets.in the case of Coca-Cola maintaining high sales in
America is important since it is their main market.
Another weakness of this product life cycle is competition from
other companies. Many companies aspire and work towards
ensuring that their products reach the maturity stage in order for
them to gain a lot of profits. This makes new companies to get
into the maturity stage and they begin to compete with the
existing companies. Coca-Cola has experienced competition
from Pepsi which has a huge customer base and is in the
maturity stage. This kind of competition makes Coca-Cola to
experience reduced sales.
Strategies that the organization needs in order to strengthen the
operation
In order for Coca-Cola Company to strengthen its operations, it
must ensure that it has the right team. For a company to be able
to remain ahead of its competitors, it must have the right team.
The team must be willing and ready to commit their time and
their ideas to the company. The companies in the market have
become very creative and have embraced new ideas and
technology that have enabled them to attract the attention of
customers. Coca-Cola should also embrace new ideas and ensure
that it has the right team.
The second strategy that the company needs to strengthen the
operation is to come up with the right advertisement. Pepsi has
been known due to its advertisement that many people always
look forward to. This has made them to gain more customers
and have a competitive advantage.
The third strategy is creating new product designs. Since the
product has been in the market for a long time, it is important
3. for Coca-Cola to change their product design.
Components of supply chain management
The supply chain department in this company plays a very huge
role as it enables the company to minimize its environmental
impact and ensure sustainability. One of the components of
supply management of this company is planning. The company
has been able to make good plans regarding demand for its
products and it has never disappointed its customers. Demand
planning is very important especially when a product is in its
early stages of the life cycle (Lambert, 2008). As the product
proceeds to the maturity stage, accuracy in demand forecast is
very important. Supply chain management works together with
the production team to ensure that the demand is met.
Another component of the supply chain management of this
company is inventory. In order for a supply management system
to be effective, an inventory must be maintained and kept well.
Coca-Cola Company keeps a list of items, raw materials and
other important things that are required for the product to be
made. This information has always remained private and only
the staff members know all the things that are required for this
product to be made.
Issues that could affect the structuring, sourcing, purchasing,
and the supply chain of your organization
One of the issues that could affect sourcing in this company is
lack of control. A company must maintain control in all the
areas of its operations. By adding new people from different
places in the production and other operations, the company can
lose control and its most valuable asset which is its secret
recipe can be exposed.
Another issue that can affect the structuring, sourcing,
purchasing, and the supply chain of this company is the
management. The top management in a company can affect a
company in a negative or positive way. In this case, the
company leadership should ensure that they have the right
management team that can influence the company in a positive
way.
4. The third major issue that could affect the structuring, sourcing,
purchasing, and the supply chain management of Coca-Cola is
changes in the economy. The economy dictates the way in which
companies operate. Sometimes companies have to outsource and
reduce their production due to poor economic times (Lambert,
2008). Coca-Cola Company needs to be ready for this kind of
change and have a good plan that can assist and guide them on
what to do.
A total quality management tool
The total quality management tool that can be used by the Coca-
Cola Company is Kaizen. Kaizen is a Japanese philosophy that
is focused on continual improvement in all the aspects of life.
Kaizen activities help to improve all functions of a workplace
from production to marketing as well as other functions
(Charantimath, 2012). The main aim of this tool is to remove
waste in every part of the system of a company by improving
standardized processes and activities. People that understand
Kaizen well can integrate it with Six Sigma. Kaizen activity is a
continuous cycle that comprises of 7 phases that include
identifying an opportunity, analyzing the process, developing a
solution, implementing the solution, studying the results,
standardizing the solution and planning for the future
(Charantimath, 2012).
One of the areas that Coca-Cola Company focuses on is on
quality. This company has always ensured that their products
are of high quality. Quality assurance will be a future issue
because companies find it hard to maintain the quality of their
products. Kaizen can help this company to improve on their
quality by bettering their products, the work environment as
well as the processes and practices in the company.
Another area where the company is likely to face an issue in the
future is on cost. With the change in the economy, it can be
difficult for a company to maintain low cost and to manufacture
products at a low cost. Many companies today have outsourced
their production in order for them to ensure that they spend less
5. on production. This has created other issues such as
sustainability and labor issues. Kaizen total quality management
tool can help the company to come up with ways to reduce
manpower as well as expenses on production, marketing and
other functions.
Another area where the company can have issues in the future is
on management. The backbone of a company is the
management. A company with the wrong management team is
doomed to fail. It is very important for companies to ensure that
they have a strong and positive management team. The kaizen
total management tool can assist the company to improve on
employee morale, planning, administration, training, and
reporting, documentation, and information systems.
Another area where the company can have issues in the future is
on safety. The safety of employees is very important.
Companies are responsible of ensuring that the employees are
safe while working. In the case of Coca-Cola, the Coca-Cola
company has the responsibility of ensuring that the product
made is safe for consumption and that all issues required he
safety of customers are addressed. Kaizen activities can help the
company to ensure that the working conditions are safe and
suitable for their employees. It can also help in ensuring that
there is no damage made to the environment.
Advantages in employing the just-in-time philosophy
The just-in-time philosophy can be of much benefit to the
company since it can help in cash flow management. Companies
that stock up and purchase inventory in bulk, end up using a lot
of money to cater for their present purposes. The working
capital of that company is left stuck up in shelves until a time
whereby the products will be needed in a huge number. Just-in-
time philosophy can assist in ensuring a healthy cash flow
(Fleisher & Bensoussan, 2015).
Another advantage of the just-in-time philosophy is that less
space is needed. Since products are made according to the order
that the company gets, there are no products to be stored and
hence less space is needed. A faster turnaround of stock leads to
6. the need for a less storage space (Fleisher & Bensoussan, 2015).
A faster turnaround of goods ensures that the company does not
have to buy or rent out a storage space hence leading to creation
of space for other activities.
The third advantage of the Just-in-time philosophy is that it
ensures waste reduction. Since goods are made according to the
order, they do not become obsolete or damaged. This saves
investment money as well as the money needed to replace old
stock.
Means in which the philosophy could potentially impact quality
assurance
One of the ways through which just-in-time philosophy can
impact quality assurance is through the elimination of waste.
This philosophy ensures that there are no products that are
wasted or kept in stock for a long time. This therefore, ensures
that all the products made are high quality products.
This philosophy also ensures that there is constant
communication between the company and the customer (Shah,
2009). This helps the company to improve on their process and
meet the needs of their customers.
The third way through which this philosophy ensures quality
assurance is by ensuring that the company does not waste its
resources on products that are not in order.
Qualitative and quantitative forecasting method
The quantitative forecasting method that can be used by the
Coca-Cola Company in its operations is the time series
forecasting method. A time series refers to a group of data that
is recorded over a certain period of time. The data can be the
company sales made in a month or annual production. Since
past patterns tend to repeat themselves in the future, a time
series can be used to make a prediction for 5 and even 20 years
(Shah, 2009).
The qualitative forecasting method that can be used is consumer
survey. Consumer survey is conducted directly on the consumer.
It requires statistical analysis and errors in data collection can
greatly affect the prediction (Dubrin, 2009).

Introduction
An operations strategy refers to the way in which an
organization executes its business strategies. Development of an
operations strategy involves changing competitive priorities to
operational capabilities through making a number of trade-offs
and choices for operating decisions and design (Collier, 2009).
Simply put, an organizations operations strategy must align with
its competitive priorities. The main aspect of an organization is
business operations since this involves direct labor. In a service
or production industry or organization, operations are usually
task-oriented and follow very clear steps until the production
has been completed. In the production and manufacturing
industry, business operations follow clearer steps as compared
to service industries and a product is followed from basic
resources up to the completion unit.
10. This paper will focus on operations strategy in the Coca-Cola
Company. The Coca-Cola Company is one of the best and
leading companies in the beverage industry. This company is an
American multinational corporation that manufactures, retails,
and markets nonalcoholic beverage concentrates and syrups.
This company is popular due to its main product Coca-Cola that
was invented in 1886 by John Smith in Atlanta Georgia. This
company makes the concentrates that are then sold throughout
the world to various bottlers that hold Coca-Cola franchise.
Key elements
A company’s operations strategy is mainly based on its vision.
Coca-Cola’s vision works as a framework and a guide to every
aspect of the business by describing the things that are meant to
be accomplished in order for the company to achieve quality
and sustainable growth. The vision of the company is focused
on people and it works towards ensuring that Coca-Cola
Company is a great place to work and also a place where people
get inspired to bring out their best. The company’s vision is
also focused on portfolio and mainly in bringing into the
universe quality beverage brands that will satisfy the needs and
desires of the people. The company’s vision also focuses on
partnering with suppliers and customers by creating a winning
network. The company’s vision is to be responsible of the
communities around and make a difference through building and
supporting sustainable communities. The main vision of the
company is to be a highly effective and fast-moving company.
One of the basic elements to ensure operations efficiency is the
people. People are very important in the success of a business
but they should be the right people. Companies must work
towards ensuring that they take care of their employees,
customers, suppliers and other partners.
Another element is the position of the production system. This
involves choosing the type of product design, type of inventory
management and policy, and the production system.
The third element is specialization of the production.
Specialization is very important since it assists companies to be
11. able to provide products at a lower price, delivery the products
on time, and provide quality services (Collier, 2009).
Other elements include product design and development,
process development and technology selection, resource
allocation, and facility planning.
Tasks that do not align with the operational strategy
Among these elements one of the elements that do not align
with the operational strategy of the Coca-Cola Company is
technology selection. In terms of technology, this company has
been left behind since it has not embraced technology and
incorporated it in their operations like their competitors.
Another task that does not align with the operational strategy is
recruitment and maintenance of the right people. Coca-Cola
Company has had a number of issues with their employees and
customers due to poor maintenance of the right people.
The third task is on sustainability. Even though the company
claims to be involved in community programs, the sustainability
projects are not usually implemented.
A new operations strategy
Cost: the company will ensure that customers get the product at
an affordable price. The products will be sold at a price that is
affordable to all.
Quality: produce quality products that satisfy the needs and
desires of the customers. The company also looks forward to
providing the best products and ensures customers are served
well and that their needs are met.
Time: the company will ensure that products are delivered to
the customers on time. The timely delivery of the products will
also lead to reduction of speculative activity and ensure a
constant delivery time is kept. This will help in the reduction of
delivery time and costs.
Flexibility: in terms of flexibility the company will ensure that
demand and design flexibility is maintained.
Structure of the competitive priorities and infrastructure of the
production process
Competitive structure focuses on the things that a company
12. places strategic emphasis on and the operational capabilities
within them. Understanding the competitive structure of a
company is important since it helps in determining the
company’s priorities. Every company focuses on sustaining and
building a competitive advantage in the market that it works in
(Mahadevan, 2009). Some companies have a very strong
competitive advantage that makes it very difficult for other
companies to copy. Competitive advantage is achieved in many
ways such as on quality, price or cost, quick response to the
needs of the customers and delivery.
The Coca-Cola Company has kept its recipe a secret and this
secret remains heavily guarded. Today, the Coca-Cola recipe is
the most heavily guarded secret in the world. There is no
company that has been able to come up with this recipe up to
today. The company has been able to ensure that the production
process does not cost a lot of money. In fact, the manufacture of
their product costs only a fraction of the selling price and yields
a high profit.
Another competitive priority of Coca Cola is flexibility. This
company has a large product portfolio that makes the company
to be strong. There is a wide range of brands and products in
which 20 brands are worth millions.
Infrastructure involves the non process capabilities and features
of a company including the compensation systems, quality
control, innovation systems, operating plans, and the workforce
(Collier & Evans, 2012). A company’s infrastructure should
support the process choice and offer managers timely and
accurate information in order for them to make the right
choices.
New enablers
One of the new enablers of the long-term plan of the Coca-Cola
Company is acceptance by young people. Young people today
have accepted the Coca-Cola flavors. Recently, the
advertisements made by Coca-Cola regarding their products
involve young people. The advantage of this enabler is that it
increases the customer base while the disadvantage is
13. maintaining this acceptance and young people change their
preferences fast.
Another new enabler of the long-term plan of this company is a
better distribution network. This company has a better
distribution network than it had before making it easy to sell
products to many people. The advantage of this enabler is that
the company is able to reach a wide area easily. The
disadvantage is that the cost of distribution will increase.
Another enabler is the transfer of production in areas with
lesser labor costs. This company has been able to transfer its
production to areas that are cheaper than the United States. The
advantage of this new enabler is it reduces the cost of
production thereby increasing the profit margin. The
disadvantage is that this kind of transfer can lead to ethical
issues.
