Editor's Notes

  1. King Vijayabahu iii was a Vanni chief who stepped forward to stand against the invaders. He was also Known as “Vanni Nirindhu” Even though Vijayabahu couldn’t drive away Kalinga Magha, he was named as the strongest king who stood against the invader. Later on his son succeeded in chasing the invaders. The Tooth relic was taken by the monks of Polonnaruwa era to Kotmale for the safety. Being the guardian of the Tooth relic and the Bowl relic helped him establish his Kingship and get the support of the people in Dambadeniya.
