There isn’t a better motto that describes the whole nation of India more than this one. One of the main areas where this diversity is extremely telling is in religious monuments and places of worship. We have the Tibetan monasteries of Ladakh, the great mosques and other Islamic structures of Delhi, the Golden gurudwaras of Punjab, the churches of Goa and of course the temples of Tamil Nadu. While there is no dearth of incredible temples all across India, in Tamil Nadu it is on another level. We’re sure no one would want to miss a temple trail in Tamil Nadu.
With many of these temples dating back thousands of years and built in the distinct Dravidian style, it shouldn’t matter whether you are Hindu or not, whether you are religious or not. These temples are for everyone, from history buffs to architecture geeks to the devotional deities. To learn more about ancient India (particularly South Indian) culture and heritage, be sure to visit these gems of places when you are in Tamil Nadu. So let us get this pilgrimage going, shall we!

India's Supreme Court has recognised transgender people as a third gender, in a landmark ruling that may offer gay people a glimmer of hope.

The court ordered the government to provide transgender people with quotas in jobs and education in line with other minorities, as well as key amenities.
Ronda is a city in the Spanish province of Málaga. It is located about 100 kilometres (62 mi) west of the city of Málaga with a population of approximately 35,000 inhabitants.
Ronda was first settled by the early Celts, who, in the 6th century BC, called it Arunda. Later Phoenician settlers established themselves nearby to found Acinipo, known locally as Ronda la Vieja, Arunda or Old Ronda. The current Ronda is however of Roman origins, having been founded as a fortified post in the Second Punic War, by Scipio Africanus. Ronda received the title of city at the time of Julius Caesar.
The city is situated in a very mountainous area about 750 meters (2,460 ft) above mean sea level. The Guadalevin River runs through the city, dividing it in two and carving out the steep, 100 plus meters deep El Tajo canyon upon which the city perches.
The highly anticipated Discovery of King Tut exhibition in New York city opens this weekend and will run through May 1, 2016. It was nearly a century ago (1922) that archaeologist Howard Carter captured the world’s imagination with the astounding discovery of the undisturbed tomb of Tutankhamun.
“Found her in the form of Ashol Pan, the daughter of an experienced eagle hunter around Han Gohadok, which is south of Ulgii. She was perfect. I was amazed by her comfort and ease as she began handling the grand eagle for the first time in her life. She was fearlessly carrying it on her hand and caressing it somewhat joyfully.”

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
2. • The Peruvudaiyar Koyil (Tamil: ெெரவைையார ோோாயில,
peruvuḍaiyār kōyil), also known as Brihadeeswarar Temple and
Rajarajeswaram, at Thanjavur in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, is the
world's first complete granite temple and a brilliant example of the
major heights achieved by Cholas kingdom Vishwakarmas in Tamil
architecture. It is a tribute and a reflection of the power of its patron
RajaRaja Chola I. It remains India's largest temple and is one of the
greatest glories of Indian architecture. The temple is part of the
UNESCO World Heritage Site "Great Living Chola Temples".
• This temple is one of India's most prized architectural sites. The temple
stands amidst fortified walls that were probably added in the 16th
century. The vimana — or the temple tower — is 216 ft (66 m) high and
is among the tallest of its kind in the world. The Kumbam (or Kalash or
Chikharam) (apex or the bulbous structure on the top) of the temple is
not carved out of a single stone as widely believed. There is a big statue
of Nandi (sacred bull), carved out of a single rock, at the entrance
measuring about 16 feet long and 13 feet high. The entire temple
structure is made out of hard granite stones, a material sparsely
available in Thanjavur area where the temple is. Built in 1010 AD by
Raja Raja Chola in Thanjavur, Brihadishwara Temple also popularly
known as the ‘Big Temple' turned 1000 years old in 2010.
