2.  Not giving in is a video that I would say has many similarities
to our video but looks to more synthetic side. It is an example
of a full narrative with out the group featuring in it. The
video also features Andrew Goodwin’s conventions. The genre
of the video is drum and bass/indie as they make all their
own music. Showing their organic qualities. Similarly, our
music will also be made by the band themselves and is
indie/rock rather than in the indie/D&B. The video features
many shots of run down areas, as well as indoor locations with
a good use of grainy filters. The narrative is based on two
paths a boy chooses to take. He takes the right route into
being a dancer rather than being a con-man/thief. This
relates to our video as we want to use a boy who lives in a run
down area but doesn’t ‘give in’ and pursues his dream of
being a musician. There are many close ups of the boys
showing emotion, and how he shows that his life is a misery. It
emphasises the music’s lyrics as it says ‘not giving in’, and by
the end the close ups show the boy being happy with his life.
The lyrics match with the narrative, ‘I’m gonna be stronger’,
‘not giving in’ and ‘lost in time’. These clearly connote
strength and that the tune encourages the boys as well as the
audience to be strong and not give in to unwanted pressure. It
also matches the video as the lyric says ‘time to make these
things feel right’, just as one boy ditches his friend to observe
some dancing.

3.  I believe that this video has got the same target audience
as us and has a similar message. It targets those who know
what its like to go through a painful childhood. Our aim is
to help these types of people come out of this type of
stage.
 Rudimental attract a mixed audience of teens and adults
which is just what we want. We want people to like it as a
whole and be able to express there passion for different
genres at any age.

4.  It is clear that the song picks up a beat during the
chorus which makes it sound exciting and
accentuates the feeling towards the narrative.
 Our song will pick up the same beat structure to
make the song exciting when something good or bad
happens.
 Rudimental has a different star image to our band as
they do not link themselves with the music whereas
we will. They dress casually and do not have certain
qualities that make them stand out. They are
inconspicuous. Whereas our band will have something
that’ll make them different from any other band.
