Valentine Hunsicker was one of the founders of the Mennonite community in Skippack, Pennsylvania in 1717. He helped build the first Mennonite churches and served as a bishop. His descendants, including Henry, John, Garret D., John Quincy, and subsequent generations of John Quincy Hunsickers, remained in the area and many continued the family tradition of leadership roles in the Mennonite church for over 200 years. The family experienced religious shifts over time, with some leaving the Mennonite denomination and joining the Quakers. Many were well-educated and pursued professional careers such as law and business.

During World War II, he participated in the anti-Soviet uprising in 1941 and later taught in Alytus. In 1945, he joined the Lithuanian partisans waging guerrilla warfare against the Soviets. He was eventually betrayed and arrested in 1956, tortured in KGB prison, and executed in 1957.

Singing festivals for Estonians were held in Bradford starting in the 1950s and 1960s to teach children the Estonian language, history, geography and culture. An Estonian school opened in Bradford on June 9, 1956 to provide education to exiled Estonians.

Samoilฤ Mรขrza was an Austro-Hungarian-born Romanian photographer best known for taking the only photographs of the Great National Assembly at Alba Iulia in 1918 that proclaimed the union of Transylvania with Romania. Mรขrza learned photography before World War I and served in the Austro-Hungarian army, where he took pictures at the front. In late 1918, as the war ended, Mรขrza arrived in Vienna with other Transylvanian Romanian soldiers and planned to return home. Harriet Beecher Stowe
Harriet Beecher Stowe was born in 1811 in Connecticut and grew up in a religious family. She moved to Cincinnati to teach and met her future husband there. Stowe published the novel Uncle Tom's Cabin in 1852, which depicted the harsh reality of slavery and became immensely popular. The book is believed to have contributed to the outbreak of the American Civil War. Stowe lived until 1896, becoming a prominent abolitionist through her writing.
Benjamin franklin
Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. He was a noted polymath, scientist, author, printer, politician and diplomat. As a scientist, he conducted famous experiments in electricity and invented many things including the lightning rod and bifocals. He played a major role in establishing the University of Pennsylvania and was a leader in the development of early American democracy. Throughout his life, Franklin held various civic roles and was a successful businessman and publisher. He was also a prominent abolitionist who freed his own slaves late in life. Franklin made many important contributions to both America and the world and remains one of the most influential figures in American history.

Anne Hutchinson
