Ronald Reagan was born in 1911 in Tampico, Illinois. He had a struggling shoe salesman father who was an alcoholic, causing the family to move frequently. Reagan played football in high school and was class president his senior year. He graduated from Eureka College in 1932 with a degree in economics. Reagan had a successful acting career spanning 27 years and appearing in over 50 films. He served two terms as governor of California from 1967 to 1975. Reagan was elected as the 40th US President in 1980 and re-elected in 1984. In 1981, he survived an assassination attempt. Reagan retired in 1989 and passed away in 2004 from Alzheimer's disease.
