personal care products. Through Novella Project
employs 7050 people in Tanzania, non-use of
child labour, no corruption, support for women’s
participation, and environmental conservation.

46 desks. In case of secondary schools, GGM has
managed to construct 25 classrooms.

tons of Flour to Local Communities in Drought hit
Mchinga Province in Lindi, Southern Tanzania.

• I&M Bank (T) Limited, part of its donation goes
to Cornel Ngaleku Children Centre to aid
orphaned due to loss of parents through
HIV/AIDS, donated TZS. 5,000,000 for
construction of Children’s Cancer ward at
Muhimbili National Hospital, donated learning
items, toys and food stuff for this noble cause
amounting to TZS 5 Million only to Shule ya
Uhuru Mchanganyiko Primary School comprises
of Blind, Deaf and Dumb students, has been
making donations to the CRS activities to have
better and bright Tanzania.

• National Microfinance Bank (NMB), has
donated different items worth 10m/- to flood
victims in Hai in Kilimanjaro Region which left
dozens of people homeless. “This donation is
part of the one per cent of the banks profit
after tax (over 1.0bn/-) that we give out to
communities through corporate social
responsibility (CSR), through this set amount,
NMB have been able to give a relief of its kind
to communities.”

the Hassan Maajar Trust in support of their Desks
for Children programme.

US$18.5million for the past three years in
financing social developmental projects for
communities living close to the mining sites in the
lake zone.
15. Conclusion
• Although many corporate plays great social
responsibilities roles in disaster management,
but some of them remains to be the main
contributors to environmental and human
health degradation increasing vulnerability
and risks to disaster e.g. mining, cigarette and
fossil fuelled manufacturing industries, their
poor management on chemical effluents, lung
cancer risk and air pollution.
