 Syllabus and teaching in polytechnic is brought to greater
heights when all subjects are made compulsory to be
taught in English from the year 2008.
 Training and Career Development Division, Department of
Polytechnic and Community College Education had
conducted a training programme based on theTraining
Needs Analysis conducted in early 2006 to train non-
language lecturers to use English as their medium of
instructions.
 The Ministry of Higher Education is aware of the need to
train the technical lecturers so as to improve the delivery
ofTechnical subject in English.Two interventions namely
the PPMSTI and EEP were conducted since 2006 up till
2010.
 To study the practices of the technical
instructors in teaching technical content in
English-Medium Instructions.
 To identify problems faced byTechnical
Instructors in using English-Medium
Instructions.
 To find out the strategies used in coping
using the English as Medium of Instruction by
the technical instructors.
