Jose Rizal received his early education in Calamba and Biñan from various teachers. In Calamba, Doña Teodora taught him prayers and the alphabet at age three. Later, he had private tutors like Maestro Celestino and Maestro Lucas Padua. His uncles also helped educate him, with Uncle Gregorio instilling a love of learning. In 1869, Jose went to a private school in Biñan, where he excelled in his studies but also got into fights with jealous classmates. He continued furthering his education despite injustice faced by his family like his mother Doña Teodora's wrongful arrest.
