the surname “Mercado” which means market

Looking at their ancestors, we can already tell that they belong in
the class of upper people and also that their blood originated
from different races.

OVERVIEW:
This is José Rizal's student recollections. Between 1879 and
1881, when he was 17 to 20 years old, he composed it. It
recounts every noteworthy event from his early years.
It is divided into 8 chapters.

Born in Calamba, Laguna on June 19 1861. He had 9 sisters
and a brother.
Describes his experiences with plants and birds around their
home
Praying the rosary together with his family

Rizal left Calamba, and decided to stay and study in Biñan
His uncle, Jose Alberto, planned to divorce with her wife
Her mother, Teodora, was arrested on malicious charge that
she helped his brother Jose Alberto in trying to poison his wife

Due to this. Jose felt distrust in friends and doubted men, at a
young age.
The 50km Doña Teodora was made to walk from Calamba to
the provincial prison in Sta. Cruz.

the Ateneo Municipa

Didn’t get admitted at first because the period of admission is
over or because of his weak constitution or short stature

Jose became Emperor (best student) at the Carthaginian group
at the end of the month and kept on achieving excellence in
school.
In March 1873, Rizal returned to Calamba for vacation.
Visited his mother at prison without telling his father.

highest grades in all subjects.
June 1876, last year of Rizal in Ateneo.
Left the college with the degree of Bachelor of Arts, showed
signs of being a poet and designer.

Story of the First Love of Jose Rizal
Met his first love, Segunda Katigbak and made a pencil sketch
of her.
Segunda was her sister, Olympia’s close friend and is studying
at La Concordia College

Jose visited her every week to know her more though Segunda
was already engaged with another man already
Eventually, Segunda got married which left Jose Rizal
frustrated.
At the end, he gave up and didn’t convey his feelings to her
because of his shyness

Months passed and he was just waiting news about Segunda
Took a Metaphysics examination and achieved excellence
Went home to spend a long vacation

Reading the book “Amigo de los Niños”
Mother Teodoro was annoyed at hearing Jose read pitifully due
to him not being proficient in Spanish

His mother chose to read him an story instead of teaching him
as Jose was distracted by the lamp’s flame and the moths
surrounding it.
When story was finished, he didn’t really listened well and he
was just looking at the beautiful light of the lamp and the moths
around it.
“Light is the most beautiful there is in creation and that it is
worthy for a man to sacrifice his life for it.”

pambansang bayani ng Pilipinas na si Dr. Jose Rizal. Ang

kanyang kapanganakan at hanggang sa mamatay siya sa
Bagumbayan. Ibinahagi rin dito ang mga kaniyang naranasan
noong nag-aaral siya sa Ateneo De Manila at Unibersidad ng
Santo Tomas. Ipinakita rin ang kaniyang pamamaraan ng
pagligtas sa Pilipinas na sa pamamagitan ng pagsusulat.
