ACTIVITY
Producing a short film for Film Process of Production assignment. Our short will take
place in one location, which will be one of studio rooms in the Benzie building and we
will be filming interior at all times.
PERSONS AT RISK
People at risk are the actors and crewmembers such as cameraman and directors may be
harmed from these hazards
HAZARDS
1. Electrical equipment will be active while filming from equipment and studio room,
loose or faulty wiring can shock people or lead to a fire
2. Lighting equipment: bulbs could overheat and burst
3. Lighting equipment: hot portable lighting equipment
4. Tripping up and down the stairs when carrying equipment or just in general because
we are filming on the third floor
5. People knocking into objects around them or into people as we are filming in public
space as well we are shooting in a studio room with classroom equipment like display
screen.
6. Tripping/spilling over cables from the camera equipment or lighting equipment.
7. Confined Spaces as we could be filming in the one room for long periods of time
8. Camera equipment theft from other people
9. Since we are filming in a public location a fire might occur and member may get
injured from burns/smoke or may be trapped in our one room location
RISK CONTROL METHODS
1. All crew members will learn all equipment and spot any damage or discolored
equipment
2. Turn off lights when they are not in use between the scenes
3. Turn off lights when not in use between the scenes
4. To prevent this, we could travel carefully up and down the stairs without running to
avoid injury or damage equipment
5. Remove the objects to a safer place when filming or if you need to film with the object
in shot practice filming with the object so you don’t hit it.
6. Put cable tape on the cable so it does not move and is stable.
7. You could plan filming when there isn’t a lot people.
8. Always double-check our equipment and keep the important equipment close to you
at all times.
9. Access to fire exits should be kept clear
FURTHER ACTION REQUIRED
1. Plan which equipment you will use which scene or shot and keep a track of them
2. Always have spare bulbs in case they overheat because we might film for long
periods of time
3. Always have spare bulbs or wear heat resistance materials like gloves when handling
hot lighting
4. Always have guy reminding people of the stairs to be careful.
5. Make the objects fake so their props like rubber verses
6. Make the cable bright and stand out like those black and yellow strips
7. Prepare your group before going so we can decide who goes or not
8. After filming a scene or shot place the equipment back in its bag or case and keep it
with you.
9. Before filming all crew members can practice fire evacuation for preparation for an
actual fire
