PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
Carol Righi has been a practitioner of User Experience and User-Centered Design for more
than 25 years. She is widely considered a UX thought leader, has extensive experience in
UX research, design, and management; is widely published; and has presented at numerous
professional meetings worldwide. She is co-author of User-Centered Design
Stories and User-Centered Design: An Integrated Approach.
Carol's professional activities have included:
• Designed and evaluated user experiences for Web, mobile, desktop, kiosk, hardware,
and mainframe applications
• Created and evaluated the information architectures of dozens of websites
• Managed UX/UCD/Usability teams for large IT organizations
• Delivered strategic plans for the development of enterprise UX and Customer Insight
processes
• Developed traditional and e-learning courses in UCD/UX
• Trained thousands of students
Carol is a member of the User Experience Professional's Association, ACM’s SIGCHI, the
Information Architecture Institute, and Gateway CHI (the St. Louis chapter of SIGCHI). She
is a founding member of the UTEST Advisory Council. She serves on the editorial board of
the peer-reviewed "Journal of Usability Studies" and is frequently sought out to review
journal articles, conference submissions, books, and other scholarly and professional works.
Carol was Usability Co-Chair for CHI 2007.

Scottrade, Wells Fargo, A.G. Edwards, Fidelity, Mapquest, MetLife, and many others. She is
proficient with numerous design tools including Axure, Dreamweaver, and Omnigraffle; and
research tools including SPSS, SurveyMonkey, OptimalSort, TreeJack, and many others.
Carol received her undergraduate degree in psychology in 1981 and her PhD. in
school/educational psychology in 1988, both from Fordham University in New York City with
a concentration in cognitive psychology and computer applications to education.
