Introducing a holistic view of how IoT applications are built.
Presentation delivered during the IPv6 Coordination Meeting organised by RIPE NCC in Beirut-Lebanon on November 5th 2015. It was updated for the RIPE NCC Levant Regional Meeting done on April 25th 2016 in Beirut.
To assess licensing potentials of the key IPR holders, forward citation based Amber Cluster Search was used. Identified NFC patents of a specific IPR holder were used as an input to the cluster search to evaluate licensing opportunities. All the values of licensing potential higher than one are aggregated for a specific potential licensee. Thus, higher in licensing potential value for a specific potential licensee means higher in licensing opportunity.

Ericsson Technology Review - Issue 1, 2019Ericsson
Our participation at MWC in Barcelona this year revealed that a steadily growing number of mobile network operators and representatives from various industries are keen to explore the myriad of new opportunities that 5G represents for their businesses. In particular, we found that many are curious to learn more about the role of 5G in Industry 4.0 and other industry transformations, where it enables manufacturing companies leverage automation and data exchange technologies that require seamless communication across industrial processes.
Fittingly, the feature article in this issue of the magazine explains how 5G can be used most effectively in the fully-connected factories of the future. We also have excellent articles about the role of distributed cloud in supporting emerging industrial use cases, the necessity of business support systems that can handle IoT use cases, and important technology choices to consider in the design of massive IoT devices. Last but not least, we have included two articles that provide expert guidance regarding two key aspects of 5G deployment.

Barcode & RFID Convergence: Enabling Greater Visibility Through StandardsVDC Research Group
This webcast was presented by VDC Research on the convergence of Barcode and RFID technologies on the GS1 US Visibility Framework.
Barcode is the dominant track and trace technology on the planet today and its value proposition is being extended by the more automated features of RFID. While these two technologies are often viewed as competitive, they are actually complimentary, and organizations are realizing the best of both worlds when they use GS1 standards as the framework for integrating RFID to improve their business processes.
Members of GS1 US and/or EPCglobal US will see that they not only have the foundation for enhanced visibility solutions, but they can implement them in a more cost effective and timely manner - all while realizing the benefits of building those solutions on a common architecture.
Up until now the Internet of Things has scaled to a few tens of billions of high values things: cars, phones, appliances. This is set to grow by 100x to a "Massive IoT" of trillions of everyday things such as clothing, medicine, food and packaging go online. This represents a huge opportunity for applying digital capabilities to the bulk of the physical world which is currently off-line and in digital darkness. This change to the way products are made, distributed, used and recycled is being driven by a new generation of cloud connected computers, the size of postage stamps which are battery-free - powered by harvesting the energy from radio waves.
IMPLEMENTING UHF RFID READER ON SMARTPHONE PLATFORM FOR IOT SENSINGcscpconf
As a core component of the Internet of Things technology (IoT), Radio Frequency Identification
(RFID) tagged items will add billions, perhaps trillions, of objects to the Internet. As a result,
uses of Ultra High Frequency (UHF) RFID sensing become massive ranging from logistics,
retail and healthcare to homes and even entire smart cities. Under this trend, mobile UHF
RFID scanners also need to evolve. Consumers will interact with their surroundings via tagged
RFID items taking full advantage of the advancing IoT. For mainstream consumer smartphones,
unfortunately, UHF RFID connectivity has yet to be fully integrated. The major challenges are:
1) the compatibility of an RFID reader module to the host platform, 2) Radio Frequency (RF)
signal coexistence interference between the RFID reader and other sensor/RF technologies, and
3) the unacceptable high current drain caused by RFID active scanning. In this paper, we
present a design and implementation of a novel modular UHF RFID scanning subsystem, the
UHF RFID reader module, on a Motorola Moto-Z smartphone. This module is fully integrated
with an Android 7.0 Operating System (OS) and directly interconnects with the low-level
smartphone hardware and software framework. With the new antenna design and the signal
spectrum analysis, we guarantee the RF isolation of the Mod with the smartphone’s other native
wireless components and sensors. Our design and implementation also address the current
drain issue and extends the battery life of Moto-Z smartphone up to 30.4 hours with IoT RFID
scanning.
The RFID has been still an evolution in many parts of the world. This presentation gives you an overview about the RFID technology and helps you to implement in your projects and other stuff..Take a look at it and gain knowledge yourself..If you want identification RFID is the best technology employable.
Chainway C76, based on Android 6.0 operating system, is newly developed to be much lighter than previous UHF RFID readers. It features powerful quad-core processor, 6600mAh battery, distant UHF RFID capability, NFC, barcode scanning, and iris recognition. This rugged device can be deployed in chain stores, retail inventory management, asset management, warehousing, fleet management, ETC, and finance.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
