RHYMES
What is Rhymes
• Rhymes is a magazine that specialises in the rap
genre.
• It will inform the readers where a specific rapper
would be making an appearance for a concert in
the near future whether it is a festival or an arena
in North London.
• Rhymes will also have a dedicated section where
the readers will find exclusive information on
different rappers on how they where brought up,
where they lived and how they became what
they currently are.
Objectives
• Our main objective is to become the number
one rap magazine in North London and
eventually in the UK.
• We would like to entertain people who are
interested in the rap industry as well as
keeping them updated on the latest rap
events.
• Rhymes will also appeal to people who would
like to learn more about the rap industry.
Competitors that Rhymes may have
• Rhymes has two main competitors in the market one
being XXL and the other is Wordplay. They are both rap
magazines. However these are both online and not
bought in a print form. Rhymes will have a big
advantage over these two magazines as each week we
will present a different rapper and inform readers of his
or her backround.
• Another potential competitor is the Time Out
magazine. However, Time Out will not threaten the
Rhymes magazine because Time Out does not
specifically follow the rap scene. Time Out informs
readers what is happening in all of London but not just
on the rap scene but other genres as well.
Where will Rhymes be sold and how
much will it cost
• Readers of Rhymes will be able to purchase the
magazine in stores located all around North London
(Islington, Enfield, Camden and Barnet).
• The magazine will cost £3. This is because printing a
magazine is expensive as well as cost of paper. The
company needs to ensure that the magazine will be
profitable.
• Every Friday ahead of the weekend a new issue of the
magazine will be distributed. Readers will be able to
subscribe to Rhymes. If you do take a subscription out
the reader will pay less than £3 per issue.
Target audience
• The primary target audience for Rhymes will
be teenage boys and girls aged 16-24. This is
the age group that is most likely to listen to
rap.
• It is also for people who would be interested
in going to any rap related events in the near
future.
Fonts used in Rhymes
I will be using a few different fonts I believe are suited for the rap
industry. Furthermore, I believe that this will be considered as
cool font by the target audience.
Is Rhymes environmentally friendly?
• Rhymes magazine will be dedicated to
protecting the environment.
• The magazine will be environmentally friendly
as it is fully dissolvable. If, for example,
someone were to throw the magazine on the
pavement in a few hours the magazine will
dissolve.
Challenges Rhymes may face and how
they will be overcome
• The most challenging part will be to get
people to hear about Rhymes. The magazine
will need to be promoted to the target
audience in several different ways. Pilot issues
of Rhymes will be distributed free of charge to
people attending rap concerts as well as
colleges and universities. It will also be
distributed to nightclubs.
Opportunities for advertisers
• Each section of the magazine will be
supported by different companies that will
advertise their products and services to our
readers. The magazine will have a good
balance between interesting articles and
commercial material.
