CP-Meiji Co, Ltd is one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of dairy products in Thailand. It was co-founded by the Charoen Pokphand Group and Meiji Dairies Corporation, the company that revived the real fresh milk market in Japan and the owner of world-class dairy manufacturing technology. And CP-Meiji is delivering the quality of freshness to customers by carefully selecting the freshest natural ingredients and manufacturing them with high-technology process.
But in the new Hong Kong market, some problems may still occur in the product market of Meiji Milk. 2. Review on Video Case Study of Food
Incorporation
INTRODUCTION:
In the video, it has been shown that we consumers are actually eating contaminated/processed
food in the name of organic. In this video it has been discussed that the processed food is so fatal
that it causes deaths.
ABOUT PROCESSED FOOD:
All the big firms are involved in the dirty practice of growing artificial food. Either the
vegetables or the meat, all the food is processed. Either we buy raw food or eating in restaurants,
all the food is unhygienic.
INSIDE THE FIRM:
The animals are growing artificially; the chickens are injected with the fast growing hormones so
they can grow early and grow heavy in weight, they are so heavy even they can’t move properly
in the poultry farm. And the other animals like pigs, aren’t slaughtered but ‘compressed’ with the
machines to kill all at once and then they slaughter. The fact is if the animals aren’t slaughtered
properly, it can cause many diseases because the proper slaughtering drained out the blood from
the body of animal which would be harmful if it will remain in the body.
3. OUTSIDE THE FIRM:
And it’s not with the animals only, the pulses and the vegetables that we are eating are also
growing artificially. The farmers use artificial fertilizers to grow them that is why out of season
vegetables and fruits are always available.
THE CONTAMINATED FOOD CAUSES DEATH:
In this video, a case has been discussed in which a child died due to this contaminated food and
then her mother protested against these companies who are involving in this dirty practice of
growing artificial food.
MY OPINION:
In my opinion, all the firms are doing these things so they can meet the demands of large
population. If the food isn’t bring in the market on time with the right quantity then who will
fulfill our demands.
It is so easy to play a blame game but what’s really important is to see the root cause. The fact is
it takes time to grow food naturally and the another factor is the world’s population is growing
day by day, so to meet the demands of the growing population, the firms found the way to
survive because if they didn’t do this then who will arrange food for us, there’s no another
option.
If the companies started growing naturally then we will get the organic food one time a day and
sometimes this ‘one time’ turn may not come.
If we ask the question to ourselves “are we ready to eat the organic, which won’t produce on
time and won’t have the right quantity to remove our hunger as it should be but it will be organic
for sure”. We all know the answer; we aren’t ready to accept this truth because we all love to
play blame game.
WHAT SHOULD REALLY HAPPEN?
In my opinion, the government should build some official team to investigate the practices of
these firms and above all should make some policies to control the population because we
consumers are leading the firms to do this.
So before changing the system, first of all we should change ourselves.
4. CRITICAL REVIEW ON FOOD INDUSTRY OF PAKISTAN
Dairy Industry of Pakistan:
According to the dawn news report of 2017, 16 brands of packaged milk has been tested by
Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) and they found that out of 16
only 6 milk brands are fit for consumption.
Six milk brands in the UHT category were tested, including:
1. Olper's
2. Nestle
3. Milk Pak
4. Day Fresh
5. Good Milk
6. Nurpur Original
7. Haleeb Full Cream.
Conclusion: All the UHT milk brands’ samples were found safe except Haleeb Milk, which
contains formalin and cane sugar.
Milk samples from 10 brands of pasteurized milk were also examined, including:
1. Anhar Milk
2. Daily Dairy
3. Doce Milk
4. Gourmet Milk
5. Nurpur
6. Nutrivi
7. Al-Fajar
8. Accha Milk
9. Prema Milk
10. Adams.
Conclusion: Of these, only Prema Milk was found safe for
consumption.
Petition against Adulterated Milk
Barrister Zafarullah Khan had claimed in his petition that Pakistani citizens have been
consuming milk adulterated with different chemicals, including detergent powder.
He said the use of contaminated and substandard milk has been leading to serious diseases such
as cancer and hepatitis-C in humans, and asked the court to ban the use of contaminated and
adulterated milk.
5. Review on Video Case Study of “Money
Trap-How Banks Work”
INTRODUCTION:
This video is about how banks forces individuals to get the loan and on that loan banks impose
some charges as per the law and when the loan exceeded the limit; the person become unable to
repay the debt then ultimately under the stress they committed suicide.
MONEY TRAPS:
Banks attracts their clients to get the loan on easy installments of debts repayments and
sensitively forces them to acquire the advance by showing them the light side of it and do not
inform them about the dark side of un ending repayments.
BANK’S CHARGES:
Banks impose unlimited charges/interest on the loans without informing the clients in the name
of hidden charges. These charges accumulated day by day and become unbearable for the
borrower to pay back the loan.
THE PRESSURECAUSES DEATH EVEN:
In this video, a case has been discussed in which a person committed suicide under the pressure
of debts, his family put the blame on the banks but banks were disagree with their statement and
weren’t ready to accept the allege. In the end, the pressure of debt came on the shoulders of
family and they had to suffer.
WHAT BANKS SHOULD DO:
Banks has to move slowly, they shouldn’t increase charges/interest without informing their
clients. First of all they should notify their clients about all the expose or hidden charges of loans
and let them know how they can pay back the loan on time and if they aren’t able to pay off the
advance then they shouldn’t trap them cruelly or make the reimbursement policies soft for them
so they can easily pay back it.
6. CRITICAL REVIEW ON HOW BANKS WORK IN PAKISTAN:
The Case of Silk Bank
According to the dawn news report of
2017, the state bank of Pakistan (SBP)
has maintained the policy rate at 5.75%
since May 2016; a rate at which it
provides liquidity or lends money to the
commercial banks that they use as a
base rate. The banks are generally
expected to charge their customers
slightly higher interest rates on the basis
of the SBP policy rate after calculating
their overhead expenses and risk
coverage.
But what silk bank did. According to the statement, the Silk Bank is charging the highest interest
rate of 28.89% to the individuals, followed by 21.91% by the Standard Chartered Bank. The
Habib Metropolitan Bank Limited has the lowest rate of 7.77% closest to the SBP policy rate.
The interest charges of different banks:
BANKS INTEREST RATES
1. Silk Bank (highest) 28.89%
2. Standard Chartered Bank 21.91%
3. Habib Metropolitan Bank Limited (lowest) 7.77%
What Government Should Do?
Government should regulate and should take the matter into the consideration, why the banks are
so aggressively increasing the lending charges despite the fact that the SBP has already set the
interest rate, they shouldn’t exceed the limit. Silk bank is already doing this but the action against
them hasn’t taken yet.
The Matter of Concern
If the silk bank is still doing this and if the government wouldn’t take any action against them
then by seeing this practice, other banks will start doing the same thing; they will start charging
the high interest and then the repayment for the common man become impossible.
