About the Webinar
In the world of authority control, it is a bit of an alphabet soup of acronyms. ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID), which is a system to uniquely identify scientific and other academic authors; ISNI (International Standard Name Identifier), which identifies the public identities of contributors to media content such as books, television programs, and newspaper articles; and VIAF (Virtual International Authority File) a system that combines multiple name authority files into a single authority service, hosted by OCLC, all have their place when discussing identifiers for authority control.
Identity issues and disambiguating authors, researchers, other content creators, and their institutional affiliations are crucial as we move into a world of linked data. In this webinar, presenters will cover the implications and differences between ORCID, ISNI, and VIAF, what is the proper use of each, and some of the benefits that come with using authority files and making that information available on the Web.

Linked Data Love: research representation, discovery, and assessment
#ALAAC15
The explosion of linked data platforms and data stores over the last five years has been profound – both in terms of quantity of data as well as its potential impact. Research information systems such as VIVO (www.vivoweb.org) play a significant role in enabling this work. VIVO is an open source, Semantic Web-based application that provides an integrated, searchable view of the scholarly activities of an organization. The uniform semantic structure of VIVO-ISF data enables a new class of tools to advance science. This presentation will provide a brief introduction and update to VIVO and present ways that this semantically-rich data can enable visualizations, reporting and assessment, next-generation collaboration and team building, and enhanced multi-site search. Libraries are uniquely positioned to facilitate the open representation of research information and its subsequent use to spur collaboration, discovery, and assessment. The talk will conclude with a description of ways librarians are engaged in this work – including visioning, metadata and ontology creation, policy creation, data curation and management, technical, and engagement activities.

A 10 minute presentation for the virtual ELIXIR All Hands Meeting 2020 - FAIRification mini symposium. In this presentation I talk about some of the community work we do in FAIRsharing, from sharing our metadata with other resources to research on data policy repository criteria.
FAIRsharing: curating an ecosystem of research standards and databasesAllyson Lister
FAIRsharing is an informative and educational resource on interlinked standards, databases and policies, three key elements of the FAIR ecosystem. FAIRsharing is adopted by funders, publishers and communities across all research disciplines. It promotes the existence and value of these resources to aid data sharing and consequently requires a high standard of curation to ensure accurate and timely information is provided for all of our stakeholder groups. Here we discuss the methods employed and challenges faced during curation and maintenance of existing content as well as the introduction of new features. We will describe how our curation team uses a blend of manual and semi-automated curation to work on individual records and across large subsets of the registry. We also will discuss the benefits of both in-house curation and community-driven curation provided by our stakeholder groups.

Sitations are the way that researchers communicate how
their work builds on and relates to the work of others and
they can be used to trace how a discovery spreads and is
used by researchers in different disciplines and countries.
Creating a truly comprehensive map of scholarship,
however, relies on having a curated machine-readable
database of citation information, where the provenance of
every citation is clear and reusable. The Initiative for Open
Citations (I4OC), a campaign launched on 6 April 2017,
sought to make publisher members of Crossref aware that
they could open up the citation metadata they already give
to Crossref simply by asking them. With the support of
major publishers and the endorsement of funders and other
organisations, more than 50% of citation data in Crossref
is now freely available, up from less than 1% before the
campaign. This provides the foundation of a well-structured,
open database of literally millions of datapoints that anyone
can query, mine, consume and explore. The presenter will
discuss the aims of the campaign, the new innovative
services that are already using the data, what more still
needs to be done and how you can support the initiative.

Content Registration at Crossref - LIVE BangkokCrossref
Rachael Lammey, Head of Community Outreach, talks about the various ways publish register their content and deposit metadata at Crossref. Presented at Crossref LIVE Bangkok, 10 July 2019.
Kirsty Meddings CrossrefResearch funders are increasingly setting the agenda for scholarly communications, mandating certain editorial practices such as open peer review and data sharing, elevating the importance of preprints, and advocating for better use of existing community-run infrastructures like those maintained by Crossref, DataCite, and ORCID. This session will explain what’s new and next for the funding and infrastructure space, introducing a key project around persistent identifiers and metadata for grants, including use of facilities. Whilst the scholarly community has adopted standard persistent identifiers (PIDs) — for people (e.g. ORCID), content (e.g. DOIs, PMCIDs), and soon organizations (ROR.community) including funders (the Funder Registry) — the record of the award is not captured in a consistent way across funders worldwide. And they are not easily linked up with the literature or the researchers or the institutions. Harmonizing grant identifiers with one common universal schema will not just help people better measure reach and return, but will offer researchers a system that works more smoothly and accurately. In this session, hear from funding organizations about what they want, learn about the findings from the grant identifier pilot, and discover the next steps for this initiative.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. The next platform
1. Preprints are available for immediate review and consumption by all (we know that in many disciplines peer
review doesn’t materially change the output so this is a must – and it shaves years off publication times).
2. Post-publication peer review reports give reviewers credit.
3. Approved outputs can be indexed in bibliographic databases and made just as discoverable as
journal-based outputs.
4. All outputs can be made available under a CC-BY licence and in accordance with all the necessary technical
requirements for truly findable, accessible, interoperable and reproducible research.
5. Links to datasets and other open research outputs can be added.
6. UKRI gets to trace, cradle-to-grave, the impacts of their funded research as it’s all published in one place.
7. Publishing on the platform doesn’t depend on the wealth of the organisation and the size of their Gold OA
Fund.
8. It reduces researcher anxiety about ‘getting stuff published’. If it’s funded by UKRI it is welcome on the
platform.
9. Quality is assessed through peer review reports, and impact through subsequent usage (citations if that
floats your boat), and not by journal brand.
