FundRef Update - Charleston Conference 2013
Chris Shillum introduced himself as VP of Product Management at Elsevier and member of CrossRef and FundRef groups. He described FundRef as a standard for reporting funding sources for published research. FundRef matters because funding bodies, publishers, and institutions currently cannot easily link funding to published outputs due to a lack of standardized funding metadata. FundRef aims to address this issue through a pilot project linking DOIs to funding sources and award numbers in publisher metadata submitted to CrossRef.
