P&L leadership responsibility for all paper and metal processing plants includes the Operations, Safety,
Environmental and Maintenance functions. Establish and monitor the attainment of key performance
measures, develop the specifications for all capital equipment purchases, provide oversight of the ISO-
9000 Quality System and champion a diligent culture of safety. Maximize the utilization of both fixed
and human assets. Facilitate roll-out of the Rockefeller Habits Business System.
• Co-led the teams which designed and launched eight state-of-the-art manufacturing plants
utilizing the best technology and resulting in a World Class Operations; these are among the
most efficient in the industry.
• Member of the Corporate Culture Team which developed and taught the company values to
all employees and, as an Operations Leader, conducted many one-on-one coaching sessions
to improve alignment, enhance performance and mentor emerging leaders.

Holland Shredding Operation lifecycle for another 20 years at 33% of new equipment cost.

successful integration of often diverse business cultures.

2. • Developed the most efficient Wire Chopping Operation in the United States by vertically
integrating the recycling process of shredding and non-ferrous recovery to capture all copper
wire which had been previously exported.

• Worked closely with the Logistics Manager to support and leverage the Company’s fleet of
80 trucks while establishing a successful partnership with JB Hunt to grow the business
outside of West Michigan.
• Installed handheld computers across the fleet, setting standards for all trucking lanes and
measuring actual trip time against the standard to ensure driver efficiency; developed many
Key Performance Indicators for both the drivers and the equipment.
Director of Maintenance, Facilities and Environment 1997 – 2004
Leadership responsibility for approximately 100 skilled-trades technicians. Accountabilities included
maintenance of the truck fleet as well as the design, fabrication and installation of proprietary processes.
Additional duties focused on environmental compliance, quality control and safety.
• Extended the lifecycle of stationary equipment to approximately double that of the industry
standard and implemented a consistent approach to enhancing both mechanical/equipment
and human efficiency.
• Established all Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Schedules as well as a Capital
Acquisition Plan based on the age/mileage of the fleet while managing the timing of the
acquisitions around the introduction of TIER IV emission standards.
• Led a highly-successful turnaround in Environmental Compliance which resulted in a
Michigan Department of Environmental Quality request that Padnos present a statewide
training plan as an example of what “Best Operators” do to control dust.
• Played a key role in developing Safety Incentives and Programs to significantly improve the
culture, achieving 30 plus months without a lost time accident; Padnos leads in Key Safety
Performance Indicators within the 5th most dangerous industry in the United States.
• Determined the criteria for internal quality audits and served as a key contributor to the
achievement of QS9000 and ISO 9001-2008 recognition; Padnos is now the industry leader
for supplying quality product to the steel mills, foundries, melt shops and paper mills.
