2. EMPLOYMENT
2012- Production Leader - Inspections Team, Rolls Royce, Nuclear Subs, Raynesway, Derby.
I am currently the Production Leader for the inspections team, having set up the inspection team and
increased it from 2 to 19 inspectors I have established a disciplined and highly motivated team. We carry out
NDE, Table and CMM inspection as well as operating bespoke inspection equipment measuring components
in microns. Implementation of Toyota’s Problem Solving techniques and improving delivery, Quality and
H&S through Continuous Improvement activities.
2010-2012 Production Group Leader Senior, Toyota UK Derby.
Managing 28 staff and 4 Production Team Leaders. Managing the bumper & spoiler painting lines within
the Plastics shop.
2005-2010 TPS and Quality Group Leader Senior, Toyota UK Derby.
During my previous role from September 2005 to July 2011, I was seconded to the shop TPS group (Toyota
Production System). As the TPS facilitator I managed a small team of specialist Team Leaders and Team
Members.
My responsibilities included the maintenance and improvement of TPS within the Plastic Shop production
groups. I have improved our process diagnostics from 49% to 93% in the past 9 months. During a process
reduction exercise (Jishuken) my team removed 2 processes and changed the shift patterns on two of our
injection moulding machines from 3 to 2 shifts, by means of line rebalancing, GSPH improvements and
Kaizen. This reduced the headcount by 7 members. Future activities will see further reductions of another 2
processes focusing on removing non value added work (NVAW), through member’s participation and
Kaizen activities. The total value of these savings equate to £260,000/annum. I have set up 7 step
improvement plan for self reliance within the Plastics shop. I am responsible for the reduction in NVA work
for all production processes. I am the shop Kaizen mentor training and implementing Kaizen activities. My
responsibilities also include Toyota environmental facilitator which include ISO 14001 auditing, reporting
on any non conformance + corrective actions. Using PPS and TBP approach to ensure non re-occurrence.
2003-2005 Production Group Leader, Toyota Manufacturing UK Derby.
I managed a team of 18 members within the Injection Moulding Department of the Plastics Division which
makes bumpers and instrument panels for both the Avensis and Corolla cars. Responsible for top level
KPIs, Health & Safety - through proactive safety awareness/reporting procedures. Quality - through
maintenance of ISO standards and focused member participation. Production - through key measurable
‘Operational Performance Rate’ (OPR). Cost - through continuous improvements (Kaizen). Members – by
acknowledging their concerns and solving them with mutual trust and respect. Strong focus is on member
development increasing versatility, setting individual objectives as part of our appraisal system, thus
enabling me to have a high skill, flexible work force. Dealing with member’s issues complying with HR
guidelines always striving to find an amicable solution.
2000-2003 Production Cell Manager, Boots Contract Manufacturing, Nottingham.
I managed a team of 18 staff on the tablet manufacturing and packing lines, Producing Paracetamol,
Aspirin, and Vitamins etc. I managed the day to day production of 4 packing lines and 6 tablet
manufacturing machines. Whilst at Boots I reduced machine change over times by 64%and saved 2
processes through improvement activities. I gained a lot of knowledge about FDA, the Pharmaceutical
industry standards governing body.
1996-2000 Business Unit Manager, Pressac Communications Plc. Nottingham.
I was responsible for 80 staff including engineers and QA Technicians, managing the Stamping and
Moulding departments. We made products for the Telecoms and white goods industries. I had responsibility
for the purchase and quality control of raw materials, manufacture of the products through to the on time
delivery to customers. Dealing with suppliers and customers on a daily basis. During my time at Pressac I
saved the equivalent of £237,000 through process improvements, implementing new management systems
and purchase cost reduction activities.
3. 1992-1996 Production Team Leader, Toyota Manufacturing UK Derby.
I managed a team of 10 members 1 year before SOP of the Carina E, helping to set up TPS within the Press
Shop, writing standardized instructions, implementing Kan Ban systems. I learnt my Lean Manufacturing
skills during this time, Just in Time, Kan Ban, Kaizen, 5S, QC tools, Andon, PokeYoke, Effective Meetings
etc. making it probably the most invaluable time of my employment to date.

My interests include walking, running, circuit training, DIY and keeping up with the children.
