EXPERIENCE
Freelance makeup & hair artist in all medias, Atlanta, NY, LA, Miami-journeyman hair 798 1978-present
I have lived and worked in the cities mentioned above as a freelance artist. This has been my sole income and
career path almost 30 years now. I began my freelance career with fashion and lifestyle photographers working
on catalogues, advertising, magazine editorials & covers and fashion shows. This led me to also working in film
and video including commercials, music videos, TV news, series, sitcoms, shows, TV movies and Features
films. I joined IATSE 798 for hair in 1987 and am still an active member. 10 years ago, I became sought after
to work with celebrities for events and public relations. This is a primary role now in my career.
Makeup instructor/ Joe Blasco-Los Angeles 1989-1989
Working exclusively with Joe Blasco’s makeup up line, I taught beauty makeup to students at Joe Blasco’s
makeup school in L.A. I taught the basics principles and applications of makeup, corrective makeup, TV &
film makeup and high fashion makeup. This was part time work when I was available.
Hair stylist /Makeup artist/ Salon partner, Colette, 3110 Maple Dr, Buckhead, Atlanta, Ga 1980-1988
I apprenticed with Colette Ellar ( from Paris and Televiv) and tested to get my master barber license. This is
where I became a licensed hair dresser and began salon work. We became partners. I had my own salon
clientele for hair dressing, did makeups in the salon and sold a makeup line at the salon. I was still freelancing
makeup and hair styling on productions.
Clothes buyer/Designer/ Colette boutique ,3110 Maple Drive, Atlanta, Ga 1980-1982
With my degree in clothing design and Colette’s love and eye for fashion, we added a clothing boutique to the
salon. Colette and I shopped the apparel shows where we ordered pieces for the boutique. We also designed
and had made pieces for the boutique. We closed a few years later due to several break ins and losses.
Office manager/Models Magazine, Rusty White Corporation, Atlanta, Ga 1988-1989
I worked with photography, layout , creation and design of this new magazine created for models to promote
themselves. I arranged and spoke at meetings for talent interested where I also interviewed talent for qualifica-
tion purposes. If qualified , I wrote their bios for the magazine and arranged and participated in the talent’s
photo shoots. I handled all sales paperwork, sales calls, and PR for the magazine. I also worked in conjunc-
tion with the talent agencies in Atlanta.
Guest makeup artist/Edie Butt Agency, Atlanta, Ga 1978-1980
As a special and knowledgeable guest artist ,representing the cosmetic line I would be working for that day, I
was set up in department stores to do makeups for customers and help with sales. I would often teach and
advise the full time counter sales personnel on the cosmetic line, application and sales boosting. I would study,
work with and get to know as much possible about each line, sometimes a class about the line before. Cosmet-
ic lines included Revlon, Dior, Chanel , Estee Lauder, Borgese’ and Lancome.
Makeup counter artist and manager/Cardeaux cosmetics, Macy’s, Atlanta, Ga 1977-1978
Cardeaux was just being launched inside Macy’s when I went to work for the cosmetic line. I organized and
set up our display counters and inventory drawers before the launch. I did PR on the sales floor getting the line
introduced, taught other sales personnel for Cardeaux, demonstrated and sold the line to Macy’s customers. I
also did inventories and placed orders for inventory.
Showroom sales,Apparel Marts, Charlotte-NC., Atlanta-Ga 1975-1977
Only during show weeks I worked for several clothing lines greeting the buyers, showing the line and taking
orders. Before the shows opened I would help set up our showrooms and often do the window displays.
