Soto’s Associate Training Program
Soto Loft and Signature Spa is a specialty salon providing hair, skin, and nail services
in our local area of Perrysburg, Ohio. Our beauty experts work closely with each client and
give them the results they are thriving for when they step into the salon.
Before a stylist can be on the floor all on their own, they must go through a thorough
training period as an associate with one of our top-level stylists.
“Licensed cosmetologists that want to be service providers will come in and train
under a senior stylist who has extensive training in the associate program,” says Molly Getz
who is one of our Senior Stylist, Licensed Cosmetologist, Natural Nail Artist and Educator.
Here at Soto the average time period for an associate to train under a stylist is
between six to nine months. They follow the top-level stylist around learning and
practicing new techniques, working on “models” and clients, and getting more knowledge
about Soto’s history.
“The reason behind the program is that when you graduate from beauty school you
have a good knowledge of how to do hair, but we give you extensive knowledge on
business education and how to grow as a business person in this industry,” says Getz.
“I can’t imagine being a hair stylist without doing the associate program. I have
definitely learned more than just the basics and I understand everything much more than
when I was at school,” says Kimberly Martie, an associate and licensed cosmetologist.
Many people will learn the basics of hair and nails during beauty school, however
once they come to Soto their education only continues.
“Being in this industry you have to be hands on and being in the salon and being
behind someone you get to learn so many more things than just being at school,” says Sarah
Dauer, an associate and licensed cosmetologist.
Some may wonder what it takes for a stylist to become an educator for an associate.
The top-level stylists who want to become educators have gone through associate program
training and have learned the skills to properly train the new associates.
Jumping right into a salon after beauty school can be a scary thing. Soto’s associate
program helps to ease every associate into the salon business atmosphere, and makes him
or her feel comfortable as they continue their journey into becoming a successful stylist.
“I have only heard good things about Soto…I’ve heard that they are very
professional and organized and they have the type of clientele that will love their
experience here and will come back and be loyal customers,” says Danielle Moody, an
associate and license cosmetologist.
In order to apply to become an associate here at Soto all it takes is to come into the
salon with a determined mindset and fill out an application while leaving your resume.
“We want people who are success minded and want a career…we are going to teach
you how to build your business successfully and quickly,” says Getz.
“Soto is an all around great place to be…we have everything here between the salon
and spa which means anyone can come here with any beauty need and we will be able to
give them a great experience,” says Dauer.
