This document provides two essay prompts for students to respond to in 3-4 page essays. The first prompt asks students to discuss the role of class and culture in preserving social order and shaping views of social mobility. It also asks how class and culture structures contribute or interfere with social reproduction. The second prompt asks students to discuss the relevance of using critical perspectives to analyze current education, and whether these perspectives still apply. Students are asked to potentially modify the views of one of the theorists discussed in their readings. Both essays should cite sources using APA format and can draw on personal experiences when appropriate. The essays are due on June 17th at 12 noon.
