Exercise is the systematic, planned performance of bodily movements, postures or physical activities intended to provide a means to:-
Remediate or prevent impairments
Improve, restore or enhance physical function
Prevent or reduce health related risk factors
Optimize overall health status, fitness or sense of well being
Distribution of training intensities - an annual training planSportlyzer
In order to get the maximal benefit of training, the rower (coach) should know the categories of training intensities, or in different terms – the intensity zones.
The individual intensity zones help the coach to describe training intensities for particular athlete in order to maximize the benefit of each training session.
EFFECTS OF STRENGTH TRAINING ON SQUAT AND SPRINT PERFORMANCE IN SOCCER PLAYERSFernando Farias
We have demonstrated that a simple in-season strength training program resulted in an improvement in maximal back squat performance, which was reflected in improve- ments in short sprint performance, as identified by a decrease in sprint time over 5, 10, and 20 m, in professional soccer players, in line with the hypotheses. Furthermore, the changes in relative 1RM squat strength demonstrate strong associations with the changes in 5 (r = 0.62), 10 (r = 0.78), and 20-m (r = 0.60) sprint performances.
Abstract
Background. With very few exceptions (such as bodybuilding or sumo) one of the basic principles of developing explosive
power involves a maximum achievement of power with a minimum muscle mass increase. This principle is a priority in sport
disciplines, where competition requirements separate the athletes into weight categories (such as weightlifting, judo, boxing,
wrestling etc.). Coaches, nutritionists and doctors deal with well-known problems related to maintaining a certain weight
category in order to achieve a medal in a high level competition (Olympic Games, World Championships, etc.). This principle
is equally important in sports where the individual power index is related to the athlete’s body weight (sprint or long jump or
triple jump in athletics, gymnastics etc.).
Objectives. The purpose of our study was to investigate the evolution of the maximum individual power using a new
method based on charge contrast – the Top & Down method. The research was performed on ten bodybuilders (n=10) who
practice bodybuilding at a high level of performance.
Methods. We applied our new method, named Top & Down, in one experimental training session (three months length) containing
two planned moments (initial and final) for ordered testing. The training session involved completing sets of five power
exercises (Barbell Bench Press, Barbell Deadlift, Barbell Half Squat, Barbell Preacher Curls and Barbell Shoulder Press).
Results. Our findings showed statistically significant differences in t-distribution (p<0.05) between initial and final sessions.
Conclusions. It was concluded that the Top & Down method is an intensive and extremely useful method to increase
power output for bodybuilders with relatively high strength levels. It can be used in combination with other specific extensive
methods aimed at increasing muscle mass. The Top & Down method is an important and necessary precondition to increasing
the power index for predominantly extensive training specific to muscle mass increasing. We also recommend that the Top &
Down method should be applied in other sports in which explosive power is a determining factor of individual performance.
Key words: charge contrast method; intensive power training; extensive power training; maximum power; individual
power index; bipolar cyclic system; motor unit recruitment-derecruitment.

Narrated Business Proposal for the Philadelphia Eaglescamrynascott12
Slide 1:
Welcome, and thank you for joining me today. We will explore a strategic proposal to enhance parking and traffic management at Lincoln Financial Field, aiming to improve the overall fan experience and operational efficiency. This comprehensive plan addresses existing challenges and leverages innovative solutions to create a smoother and more enjoyable experience for our fans.
Slide 2:
Picture this: It’s a crisp fall afternoon, driving towards Lincoln Financial Field. The atmosphere is electric—tailgaters grilling, fans in Eagles jerseys creating a sea of green and white. The air buzzes with camaraderie and anticipation. You park, join the throng, and make your way to your seat. The stadium roars as the Eagles take the field, sending chills down your spine. Each play is a thrilling dance of strategy and skill. This is what being an Eagles fan is all about—the joy, the pride, and the shared experience.
Slide 3:
But now, the day is marred by frustration. The excitement wanes as you struggle to find a parking spot. The congestion is overwhelming, and tempers flare. The delays mean you miss the pre-game excitement, the tailgate camaraderie, and even the opening kick-off. After the game, the joy of victory or the shared solace of defeat is overshadowed by the stress of navigating out of the parking lot. The gridlock, honking horns, and endless waiting drain the energy and joy from what should have been an unforgettable experience.
Our proposal aims to eliminate these frustrations, ensuring that from arrival to departure, your experience is extraordinary. Efficient parking and smooth traffic flow are key to maintaining the high spirits and excitement that make game days special.
Slide 4:
The Philadelphia Eagles are not just a premier NFL team; they are an integral part of the community, hosting games, concerts, and various events at Lincoln Financial Field. Our state-of-the-art stadium is designed to provide a world-class experience for every attendee. Whether it's the thrill of game day, the excitement of a live concert, or the camaraderie of community events, we pride ourselves on delivering a fan-first experience and maintaining operational excellence across all our activities. Our commitment to our fans and community is unwavering, and we continuously strive to enhance every aspect of their experience, ensuring they leave with unforgettable memories.
Slide 5:
Recent trends show an increasing demand for efficient event logistics. Our customer feedback has consistently highlighted frustrations with parking and traffic. Surveys indicate that a significant number of fans are dissatisfied with the current parking situation. Comparisons with other venues like Citizens Bank Park and Wells Fargo Center reveal that we lag in terms of parking efficiency and convenience. These insights underscore the urgent need for innovation to meet and exceed fan expectations.

3. INTRODUCTION
• Team sports: accelerate & sprint short distances 5-30 meters as fast as
possible.
• In practice: the smallest worthwhile improvement 1-3% a decisive
influence on the outcome of a play or a match.
• Sprint acceleration is defined by the rate of change in running velocity.
• Two ways to improve sprinting performance:
• improvement in acceleration and/or
• maximal velocity phase.
• Low level sprinters reach maximum running speed around 30–40 m.
• Forward lean: only way to accelerate!
4. RESISTED SPRINTING (RS)
• Mechanical overload in horizontal direction more efficient force
orientation per stride!
• Propulsive forces 46% greater in acceleration than max velocity
spinting.
• Transfer!
• Proof needed that RS is more effective than regular unresisted sprint
training (UST) lack of research!
• Morin et al. 2016 - very heavy RS (80%+ body mass) versus UST = higher
horizontal F, higher mechanical effectivness, improved 5m and 20m
sprint performance.
5. AIM
• Compare and determine:
– Resisted Sprint Training (RST) vs Unresisted Sprint Training (UST) for
improvement in sprint performance (time and biomechanics)
– Vertical & horizontal jumping
– Sprint mechanics parameters improve more in RST than UST
6. METHODS
• 27 male youth football (soccer) players [N=27]
• Age: 15.7±0.5 years (mean±SD)
• Height: 175±9 centimetres
• Weight: 62±9 kilograms
• Duration: 4 weeks (2 trainings per week)
• Grouping based on Force-velocity (F-v profile)
• 3 groups:
– resisted sprint training (RST: n=8)
– unresisted sprint training (UST: n=10)
– control group (TAU: n=6)
No gym/strength training for the duration of the
intervention!
7. TESTING & TRAINING
• Testing variables:
• Height/weight/age
• Sprint times: 30m/20m/10m/5m
• Jumps: counter-movement jump (height) + standing long
jump (distance)
• Force-velocity and Load-velocity profiling
• Sprint mechanics: force, power, velocity, etc.
• Training protocol:
• 15 min dynamic warm up
• RST group: 5x20m sprint with an optimal load determined
from pre-test sprint 3min rest between sets
• UST group: 8x20m sprint 3min rest between sets
• TAU group: normal, usual training
10. RESULTS
• No sig. differences between groups except for V0 and Vmax RST vs. TAU
• Within Group Comparision:
• RST: sig. differences in body mass (p=0.010), CMJ (p=0.047), SLJ (p=0.010) and RFmax (p=0.039); T30
(p=0.037), T20 (p=0.036), T10 (p=0.038), T5 (p=0.038);
• UST: sig. differences in CMJ (p=0.007) and SLJ (p=0.001)
• TAU: sig. differences in body mass (p=0.046) and Vmax (p=0.016)
• Between Group Comparision:
• RST vs UST & TAU sig. differences in T20, T10, T5, DRF, F0 and Rfmax
• UST vs TAU: sig. differences in CMJ and SLJ
• RST vs TAU: sig. differences in SLJ
14. TAKE HOME MESSAGES
• RS a worthwhile method to improve sprint performance & sprint mechanics.
• Better aplication of Horizontal Force.
• Useful for Youth & Short Training Blocks.
• Potential additional benefits:
• Speed quality preservation throughout the season
• Injury prevention
