5. RATIONALE
• One of the reports done by Krissy Aguilar of Inquirer, is that
one of the biggest challenges that DepEd is facing right now
is the general mental health condition of both learners and
teachers. The National Center for Mental Health has reported
that there had been an increase in suicide-related calls for the
past few months. Among the said number of calls come from
students. In light of this matter, DepEd has further fortified its
psychosocial support program by partnering with the
Psychological Association of the Philippines.
6. RATIONALE
• This has been in the form of various webinars, printed
materials, and live video sessions that promote
enhanced psychosocial help for both learners and
teachers. These platforms have helped raise
awareness that mental health should also be given
priority amidst the pandemic that we are facing right
now.
7. RATIONALE
• This research aims to grant learners awareness of their own
readiness towards online learning by using a tool which
measures emotional intelligence. This in turn will help them in
gathering the needed focus for this kind of learning modality.
Teachers will also benefit from this study, as this will also help
them in gathering the much-needed data in preparing
alternative or additional learning materials that their learners
will be attuned to.
8. ACTION RESEARCH QUESTIONS
1. What effective and specific tool will be used in measuring
the emotional intelligence of the learners who will
participate in the research?
2. What factors may hinder the learners from receiving an
accurate measurement of their emotional intelligence?
3. Is there a correlation between emotional intelligence and
readiness for online distance learning among the learners
who have participated with the research?
9. PROPOSED INNOVATION,
INTERVENTION, AND STRATEGY
• Phase I – The teacher-researcher will first
identify a specific tool to be used in
measuring emotional intelligence. The
tools that will be collected, will be
assessed through CEDEC’s (Centro
Nacional de Desarrollo Curricular en
Sistemas no Proprietarios) Rubric.
CEDEC’s Rubric specializes in assessing
10. PROPOSED INNOVATION,
INTERVENTION, AND STRATEGY
• Phase II – The teacher-researcher, upon
choosing the “best” tool, will then gather
participants for the research. This will be taken
amongst the number of pupils/students of
Manga Integrated School who have willingly
participated for online learning in Manga
Integrated School. 25 participants from
elementary (Grade 4 to 6) and another 25
participants from junior high school (Grade 7 –
Grade 9). They will be asked to answer the

INTERVENTION, AND STRATEGY
• Phase III – Results of the assessment will
be grouped accordingly; pupils/students
who have yielded a “positive” outcome in
their assessment, and those who have
yielded a “lacking” result of their
outcome. Nevertheless, all
pupils/students will still push through
with their online classes.
12. PROPOSED INNOVATION,
INTERVENTION, AND STRATEGY
•Phase IV – Participants will then be
observed during their online classes
for two quarters. Subject teachers
will be asked to notate behavior of
participants during sessions.
Recorded grades will also be
gathered as data.
13. PROPOSED INNOVATION,
INTERVENTION, AND STRATEGY
• Phase V – In the end of two quarters, all data
will be gathered from the subject teachers, of
which includes the notations and class records.
The teacher-researcher will then proceed with
cross comparison of notations and recorded
grades versus of the yielded results of the
assessment of their emotional intelligence. A
final statement and recommendations will be
produced upon reaching a conclusion based
on the gathered data and cross-comparison.
14. ACTION RESEARCH METHODS
• PARTICIPANTS AND/OR OTHER
SOURCES OF DATA AND INFORMATION
Participants of the study will be the 50
pupils/students of Manga Integrated School
who have willingly participated for online
learning as their learning modality for S.Y. 2020
– 2021. This is also according to the LESF
tagging made in the LIS. 25 students from
Grade 4 – 6 and 25 students from Grade 7 –
Grade 9, as stated in Phase II of the study.

18. PLAN FOR DISSEMINATION AND
UTILIZATION
• The results of the study will be presented and disseminated
during learning action cells, teacher’s quality
circle, conference after the study and will be presented
through infographics which will be part of the initiatives of
the school administrators and the subject area teachers. The
information laid within the conclusion will be of benefit for
both teachers and learners, as this will determine if learners
are truly prepared for online learning. This will also grant the
learners leeway in “warming” themselves up for the new way
