- 2. Subgenre • The possession sub genre is about people who's body have been taken over by a spirit. These spirits control the body of the person and act in an unruly manor. • Examples of Possession films: The exorcist, the last exorcism, the last exorcism of emily rose, the devil inside, the possession.
- 3. What did you learn from researching your sub genre • The location of possession films are normally set in a house for example the polergyst and the exorcism are based around the house of where the family live in. These isolated locations show that there is no escape. • Usually we see the presence of a priest or someone who can talk to the dead who are called mediums or clairvoyants. These people try and talk to the spirit and get rid of them.

Conventions of our subgenre • Priests being present helping the people that have been possessed. • Entrapment of people in a house or another locations. • Use of ouija boards • family torture as they are affecting everyone that cares about the person who has been possessed. • Strange powers like turning your head and fully rotating it.
- 5. What will be your character types or social groups. • In our OTS we will be using a close family of brothers who's mother has just died and they are trying to reach her through the use of a ouja board in a basement. • The reaction from the ouija board is un positive and the spirit reacts badly and possesses one of the sons.

Plot/Storyline • Boys are grieving over mother • there are hidden secrets about her that they want to find out • sit down and do a ouija board • a spirit is found and they all freak out • they find out the mother killed the eldest brothers ex girlfriend • the mother posses the middle child • younger son freaks out • lights go out • they find the oldest son dead on the table
- 7. Will you enforce or challenge conventions • we will enforce conventions for example the use of the family home as a setting as it represents that they are trapped. • The use of a ouija board • One of the people being possessed • the use of a cross in the background to represent the spirits.
- 8. We will create an enigma by • The boy dining and we would want to find out why the spirit has killed the son. • Why has she chosen the middle son to posses? • Why is the middle child so messed up or is he grieving over his mother?
- 9. How will you represent the characters • There will be 3 characters • Character1: The eldest brother is the most strongest out of the 3 brothers but gets the most freaked out when they do the ouija board. His reaction is to scream and shout and be extremely aggressive towards the spirit. • Character2: The middle brother will be the most mysterious. He will be represented like this by being very quiet and not responding to at all to the spirit and being very calm towards it. • Character3: The youngest brother is the one who pushes the others into doing the ouija board. When they do it and feel the spirit he freaks out the most and cries a lot.

Our first inspirational film is? • Our first inspirational film is exorcist. • This is because it was the first and most original possession film therefore it created most of the conventions. • The conventions that are used are the entrapment of the girl in the bed • The priest coming and trying to get the spirit out of the women.

Our second inspirational film is? • Our second inspirational is ouija. • This is because they have the use of a ouija board which is an ancient way of reaching out to spirits and is used in this film. • We decided to use this as it is extremely scary and there are ancient myths of them actually working and spirits coming alive.

Our third inspirational film is? • Our third inspirational film is The Devil Inside. • This is because it they challenge the conventions of the nuns trying to get rid of the spirit but the spirit possesses the nuns. • The film is extremely spooky and makes people feel scared as there is no protection as the enforcers have already been taken over by the antagonist.
