Importance of women literacy and development with respect to the views of the...SHIKHAR MAURYA
This survey report summarizes the results of interviews conducted with students and staff at Lovely Professional University to understand their views on the role of women's literacy and development. The interviews found that poverty is a major barrier to women's education, as are early marriage and parental negligence. While most female respondents faced obstacles in continuing their education after marriage, some were able to complete their education with support from parents and husbands. Cultural norms were also identified as historically discouraging girls' education, though attitudes are changing, especially among middle-class families who see value in daughters' education.

It emphasizes that sport should be accessible to all ages, genders, and social classes as a way to improve health and social cohesion.
The document examines the socio-cultural determinants of female students' participation in school sports in Kogi State, Nigeria. It discusses how gender, cultural, and religious beliefs can significantly impact female participation. A study was conducted surveying 310 female secondary students across 10 schools. The findings show that gender disparities, cultural norms discouraging female athleticism, and certain religious restrictions negatively influence female participation. It was concluded that both sexes should be encouraged to participate in sports equally to promote gender equality, and society should be educated on changing beliefs that hinder female involvement in athletics.
Dr. Jayshree Singh argues that sports training and participation can contribute significantly to economic development by promoting industries related to sports, boosting tourism, and requiring large sports academies and organizations. However, she notes that in India, efforts are hampered by a lack of funding and infrastructure as well as social issues like gender discrimination. She calls for greater public-private partnerships and community involvement to support sports development and reap its economic benefits.
When talking about social inclusion, one can distinguish between two basic target perspectives:
1. Inclusion into sport
Inclusion into sport focuses primarily on the introduction of under-represented, vulnerable groups to sport and the facilitation of the
capacity to act within sport. This mainly concerns:
- Sport for people with disabilities
– Gender equality in and through sports
– Inclusion of migrants and other disadvantaged groups in and
through sports
2. Inclusion through sport
Athletic processes that empower individuals by allowing them to gain experience and acquire skills, which they can apply to other social
contexts, such as schools, workplaces and communities, etc.
This document provides recommendations to address the psycho-social factors that influence female participation in sport. It recognizes that while awareness of biological differences has increased, knowledge around psycho-social factors that impact women and girls as athletes, coaches and leaders remains limited. The document advocates moving from an approach of equal opportunities to one of equitable opportunities that considers the unique needs of women and girls. It aims to support organizations, leaders, educators and families in developing programs and policies to actively engage women and girls in sport at all levels by addressing psycho-social barriers.
This document outlines a new strategy for sport in the UK. It discusses four main themes: fairness and equality, children and young people, participation, and physical activity. For the theme of fairness and equality, it addresses challenges around ensuring sport is inclusive for all and allows everyone to flourish. It discusses the need to address both active discrimination and unconscious bias. It also covers challenges around ensuring opportunities for disabled people and diversity in leadership. Specific policy proposals are made around identifying and removing barriers to participation, improving cultural awareness, addressing imbalances in group representation, and strengthening anti-discrimination enforcement and regulations.
The document discusses the use of sports in reconciliation efforts after post-election violence in Kenya in 2008. It describes different approaches used, including single events, sport leagues, and incorporating sports into wider projects. An evaluation found that a sports-based child protection project helped youth heal from trauma and improve social integration. The document recommends best practices for using sports to transform conflicts and rebuild relationships, such as understanding local contexts and promoting inclusion and fair play.
This document discusses how sports can promote peace. It outlines how sports build community and friendship, develop important life skills, encourage healthy lifestyles, and serve as a platform to advocate for important issues. The document also explains how the Universal Peace Federation supports using sports to bring people together and promote international cooperation and development.
The document discusses the ProHEALTH Foundation's efforts to promote health through organizing running events, especially in tier 3 and 4 cities in India. It notes that about 60% of India's urban population lives in smaller cities that lack organized sports events. ProHEALTH aims to address this by organizing running races that encourage physical activity, promote health and identify athletic talent. The events target children, youth and middle-aged groups to develop lifelong healthy habits.
The Effects Of Athletic Participation On Academic PerformanceAlana Cartwright
The document discusses communicative participation and its relationship to disability. Communicative participation refers to how individuals participate in various discourse activities in contextually situated ways. For people with disabilities, barriers can limit their communicative participation, including physical barriers, attitudes, and lack of accommodations. Researchers argue that assessments of communicative participation for people with disabilities need to consider the individual's experiences, perspectives and environment, not just their impairment, to understand barriers and promote full inclusion. Assessing communicative participation can help identify ways to reduce barriers and improve social inclusion for people with disabilities.

THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.

Approach
With one of our objectives to promote physical education and sports science, we think that these can play a crucial role in
promoting gender equality and inclusive empowerment in the society as a whole and especially for women. This can also help achieve
one of the goals on Gender equality as per the Millennium Development Goals and encourage women build mental and emotional health,
educated more towards their right and develop technical and tactical skills by and large. This also develops interest towards education
and push sustainable participation of women in mainstream, which in turn builds a prosperous and contributing society.
Concept: Need Assessment
The world believes that the holistic development of an Individual includes physical education and sports. Exposure to Physical
Education, Sports & Self Defence programmes not only empowers people but also prepares them for life. Public and private sector
organizations, Government agencies, Physical Education professionals and Sports Administrators have realized the true potential of
Physical Education and Sports. There are several networking platforms and forums to discuss and deliberate the challenges of this field.
Along with the Socio Economic, Political and Demographic changes, Physical Education and Sports has also undergone a sea change in
the 21st century. We are witnessing a significant spurt and encouragement and support to disabled and under privileged members of
the society to participate in sports. Women Empowerment, Gender sensitization and Gender equity have become the underlined areas
where Physical Education and Sports have the potential to make a world of difference.
As per the UNESCO reports, gender parity has become one of the most important concern in 21st century especially in Asia and the
pacific. Less than half of the countries achieve this at primary school level in the region. Sex ratio at secondary and tertiary level is
worrisome. Two thirds of the world illiterates live in Asia and Pacific region. Majority of them are adult women. Poverty, gender
inequality in education and security are few of the most significant causes to look upon. Report on the Right to Play (2008, p. 129) says
that education is the single most powerful mean for families to escape poverty over the long term sustainable development. Physical
education and sports when integrated in the education curricula can provide a platform in performance enhancement for women and
this can also provide a universal language to overcome the social, racial, gender and religious divides. This has the potential to develop
many personal capabilities viz. leadership, values, solidarity, respect etc.

The increasing crime against women in the 21st century is of great concern. The topics on women safety are just for books or articles.
The recent mass molestation case in Bangaluru on New
Year eve and others as reported in various parts of
country are few examples. The rate of reporting a crime
in India is still very less. Most of tier 1 and tier 2 cities do
report crimes against women. The reported crime has
almost doubles in just 7-10 years and increasing in a
very fast manner as per the National Crime Records
Bureau (NCRB). The situation in rural area is still
worrisome as far as crime reporting against women is
concerned. Statistics shows about the increasing crime
against women.
Looking at the data on increasing crime rate against
women, the unreported crimes could also have been in a
dangerous stage. As per Commonwealth Human Rights
Initiative (CHRI), more than fifty percent crimes in
Mumbai and New Delhi goes unreported and police in
these cities refuse to register most complaints.
Physical education and sports (viz. Self defence practices) for women specifically in this situation are of great importance. Proper
training, skills to instill strength, confidence and defend themselves is required at ground level. Introduction of compulsory training at
local level, inclusion and participation of women can really do wonders. Practicing taekwondo can become a medium to get the right
skills for women to defend themselves. With this small initiative, the National Conference tried to bring all the stakeholders-
Academicians, Industry, Sports Professionals to share their valuable insight and experience to promote skill development and women
empowerment through sports. Rejautsu Serves is in the process of associating various officials, professionals and agencies from various
domains to encourage and enhance the practices for women empowerment. For additional information, please contact Mr. Bhavesh
