Nessa Jenkins is a welsh woman who is
quite butch and aggressive. She has a strong
Welsh accent and uses stereotypical Welsh
phrases. She is also very patriotic as she has
a tattoo of the dragon from the Welsh flag.
She is represented as quite lower class.

Location/setting – Scotland, upper school
Props – school equipment
Costumes – School uniform, smart clothes,
casual clothes.
Makeup – Quite natural as they are students
except for some girls.
Class – Middle to lower class
Christine Mulgrew.
She has a strong Scottish accent. She drinks a
lot of alcohol. In some ways she fits the
stereotype but she also challenges it as well
because I don’t think she is a very ‘outdoorsy’
person and she is not shown eating haggis or
wearing tartan.

Eastenders
Dialogue/Dialect – London Cockney
Location/Setting – London’s East End
Props – Everyday things such as mobile phones
Costumes – Everyday, casual clothes
Makeup – everyday makeup. Ranges from woman
to woman.
Class – Lower to middle class
Mick Carter.
He is a stereotypical ‘geezer’ who is tough. He has a strong,
cockney accent. He fits the stereotype of a Londoner from the
east end.

5. Ireland
Dialogue/Dialect – Northern accent
Location/Setting – Chester
Props – Everyday objects
Costumes – Everyday, casual clothes
Makeup – Natural, however some women
were a lot
Class – Middle to lower class
Brendan Brady
He is seen as a stereotypical Irish man as she
drinks a lot and can be quite aggressive.

6. London
London in split into two main stereotypes. Some are shown as posh, snobby
and rich and others are shown as more lower class, poor, common and
sometimes violent and criminals.

7. Manchester
Represented as being ‘chavs’ and common, uneducated, criminals who drink
a lot. They are seen as lower class.

They are represented as being very glamorous and they only
care about their appearance. They are also shown as being not
very smart and it’s made out like they party all the time.
