Cedar Valley Catholic Schools is deploying a 1:1 iPad program for students and teachers. They have undertaken extensive professional development with their teachers, including working with the Archdiocese of Dubuque and attending summer institutes and conferences, to prepare them for using iPads in the classroom. The school chose iPads for their infrastructure compatibility and ease of imaging and management through the iOS developer program and volume purchasing. Teachers will be using the iPads with a variety of teaching and learning apps, as well as administrative apps to enhance their work.

The Genazzano iPad Program provides every student from Prep to Year 4 their own iPad to use for the entire school year. The iPads are used to complement existing teaching and learning, with pedagogy driving technology use rather than the other way around. Teachers are able to display students' iPad screens on the board from anywhere in the room to demonstrate concepts or have students share their work. While the program faced initial challenges in imaging devices and providing appropriate app selections, lessons learned included giving teachers flexibility in deploying apps and providing peer-led professional development on iPad integration.

- Welcome and introductions.
- We have a strong tradition of Catholic Education. One high school, three elementary schools, and very soon our new middle school - Blessed Maria Assunta Palotta Catholic Middle School
- We also know that today we are challenged to teach a new generation of learners-the digital kids.
- We had been offering dynamic professional development opportunities for our staff. TLT worked with admin and staff to improve instruction. We developed a motto to drive us forward.
- Once we decided that putting technology into every students hands would be our goal, we had to decide the best way for our district to sustain a 1:1 initiative. After much research (and a well timed announcement) we chose to move forward with and iPad rollout.
- There are many logistics to have in place before you jump into a 1:1 program. Do you have adequate infrastructure to add sever hundred wireless devices?
- How will you manage those devices. We will be using Casper to manage our iPad images, and push profile to students and teachers.
